Welcome[edit]

Hello Dominus Arbitrationis! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! —Golden SilenceBreak the Silence 20:02, 17 September 2012 (GMT)

Spammers[edit]

Just a heads up, I've noticed you warning spammers. While it isn't wrong, it isn't exactly productive. They are bots 11/10 times, so they will never read or acknowledge the warning. You can simple replace all the spam they've added with {{Speed|spam}}, and the page will be flagged for an admin to review for deletion, which would typically happen within a few hours. Then, the administrator will give the spam account their indefinite block, and delete the page. Or, if it's one of the rare spam accounts that will go more than once or twice (like 4-5 or more times), there is nothing wrong with contacting a blocker (which I happen to be), and they can issue a temporary block (we are restricted to 4 hours max) to minimize the amount of spam. (Although, that isn't strictly required, as once that bot does it's run of typically less than 8 edits, it's finished and never seen again, just speed the page as usual). Any questions about this or other topics can be directed to my talk page if you wish, and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability. Have a nice morning/ evening/whatever timezone you're from :) Snowmane(talkemail) 12:25, 22 September 2012 (GMT)

Okay, thanks for the information I thought that I was supposed to warn spammers even if they are bots. That was the way on one wiki I was a member of and I assumed it would be like that here too. Ad Intellige Mecum loqui 12:28, 22 September 2012 (GMT)

Harmonizing pages[edit]

Is there a particular reason that the daedric prince pages need to be "Harmonized"? I'm unsure of what the problem is with them being different from each other? Jeancey (talk) 17:33, 2 April 2013 (GMT)

I am doing the task detailed here. -- Ad Intellige Mecum loqui 17:36, 2 April 2013 (GMT)
I didn't realize that was on the task list :P Carry on. :) I was just a little confused. Ignore me entirely! Jeancey (talk) 17:37, 2 April 2013 (GMT)

Userspace Patroller[edit]

Race pages[edit]

Hey! I just wanted to let you know about a great function of wiki pages that you might not have heard of. When including information from another page, you can do what is called "transclusion". This is where the text of another page (shortened or modified using noinclude tags) is shown on the new page. This has many advantages over simply copy and paste the information. Since this transclusion is done when the page is loaded by a reader, the information is always up to date. If someone were to add a ton of information to the Maormer page, transcluding the page will still include that information, without ever having to edit it again. Here is the Maormer example:

Maormer, also known as Sea Elves, Tropical Elves, Pyandoneans (or derogatorily as Fish Elves), are a race of Mer that reside on the island kingdom of Pyandonea, far south of the Summerset Isles. Similar to their Altmer cousins in build, their skin can range in tone from pearlescent white or grey to blue, and Maormer Leviathans can have scales. Some Maormer have strange, chameleon-like skin that is entirely colorless, as if their flesh were made of some white limpid jelly. Some Maormer ears are broader than those of other mer, and are flared along the outer ear like a clip point blade. Their ears are shaped in such a way that they resemble fins. Maormer eyes can be pale blue, with a faint distinction between the sclera and the iris. Their eyes can also be blank. They also have gills. Their tattoos are elaborate, and they tend to display a vicious demeanor towards the denizens of Tamriel. Maormer are acclimated to life on the waves, and are steady on their feet in even the roughest waters. Maormer tongues can filter saltwater and make it potable. It is believed that Maormer bones are naturally springy.

Among the Maormer, the leviathans are the most feared. They have been described by one scholar as "the spawn of some unholy and sorcerous coupling of Sea Elf and Sea Serpent". They are scaly and massive, standing a head and a half over the tallest Nords when they draw themselves to their full height, which they don't often do because they carry themselves in a beastly posture. Maormer leviathans are usually hunched over, their backs bent and arced like a snake ready to strike. When they walk, their movements are akin to slithering in an uneven predatory lope. The Leviathans appear unused to using their legs on land. They move deftly in the water, and can climb effortlessly up the slippery sides of ships. They are capable of stretching their jaws out of place to swallow their prey.

For more information, see the main lore article.

Easy peasy :). I have already converted the Mer page to transclusions, and I intend to do the same thing to the Men pages. We use tranclusions almost exclusively over a straight copy paste. :) Thanks for listening!!! Jeancey (talk) 18:10, 3 April 2013 (GMT)

I tried to do that before but it decided to be a pain and transclude everything, templates and all so I just copied and pasted to not fight with them.-- Ad Intellige Mecum loqui 18:26, 3 April 2013 (GMT)
No worries. I have fixed them all up and transcluded them. In several cases, the blurb you has was better than the intro on the page, so I used your blurb instead. They should all be transcluding fine now, though I need to figure out what to do with the race images... They don't look so great on some of the pages. I'ma work on it and see if I can make them either a little better, or just not use them entirely. Jeancey (talk) 18:30, 3 April 2013 (GMT)
Maybe not transclude the images and just put them in a gallery on the bottom on the page like I did? -- Ad Intellige Mecum loqui 18:33, 3 April 2013 (GMT)
The main issue with that is that the images are supposed to be transcluded onto the individual game's race pages. I need to figure out how to allow them to be visible on their own page, and their equivalent game pages, but not the main race type hub. Jeancey (talk) 18:39, 3 April 2013 (GMT)
I don't know how exactly transclusion works but would it be possible to make it so it would not transclude images to a page in a certain category? -- Ad Intellige Mecum loqui 18:48, 3 April 2013 (GMT)
It is possible to do it based on page name, so any page that is the same as the race name would get the image, and any page that is different would get no image, but there are some other issues with that. I'll have to ask Jak when I talk to him next. Jeancey (talk) 18:53, 3 April 2013 (GMT)

() Jeancey, while coding isn't my specialty, I've seen the Switch Parser Function used in these situations before. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:58, 3 April 2013 (GMT)

Patrolling[edit]

Hey, it is common courtesy not to patrol other patrollers talk pages and user pages. It isn't written anywhere, but that's the general unspoken rule. Jeancey (talk) 00:51, 6 May 2013 (GMT)

Oh, okay. Thanks for telling me!--Ad intellige (talk) 00:53, 6 May 2013 (GMT)
Haven't heard of the rule and I don't see the point, if you have a message you get a yellow box on top of your page ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 04:35, 6 May 2013 (GMT)
I was thinking that myself. I personally thought it would be easier just to patrol it and save someone the hassle. --Ad intellige (talk) 20:14, 6 May 2013 (GMT)

Image Deletions[edit]

I was in the midst of updating the links, please don't mark file redirects for deletion until all links have been updated, and especially not while another user is in the middle of it. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:35, 8 May 2013 (GMT)

Okay. Will do. --Ad intellige (talk) 00:36, 8 May 2013 (GMT)

Image Updates[edit]

Hi Dominus! Thanks for helping out with renaming image and updating licenses. I was right in the middle of doing the artifact images, though, so it would save us both some time and confusion if you picked a different set to work on while my bot mode is still running ;). (For example, now that I see you're doing armor, I'm gonna pick something else to do next.) Thanks! eshetalk 17:23, 24 May 2013 (GMT)

No problem, I noticed you were doing that and so I was like might as well help. I am currently doing weapons and armor. --Ad intellige (talk) 17:24, 24 May 2013 (GMT)

Skyrim:Damage NPC's Drowning Verification[edit]

Hi Dominus,

Just wanted to give you a small heads up about the Skyrim:Damage page in which a verification is needed on "NPCs cannot drown, as they do not remain submerged underwater long enough to take damage." The talk page shows:

That's what I did actually. I do think we should have other people or maybe just you double-check me on that. --Ad intellige (talk) 04:36, 4 May 2013 (GMT)

I haven't been able to test this myself but if you have, just wanted to remind you of this once more. :) GodRaineTalk 03:32, 25 July 2013 (GMT)

I don't want to verify it only to find out that they can drown, and it was merely a glitch on my game. If someone else tries it then feel free to verify or remove the line. --Ad intellige (talk) 15:10, 1 August 2013 (GMT)

File:ON-place-Eagle's Strand.jpg[edit]

Hey, since you're on right now I'd be grateful if you could check something for me. Is File:ON-place-Eagle's Strand.jpg displaying the new, gateless version for you? It's refusing to update for me on the latest version (though the middle two are gateless... gah) which is why I was fiddling with new versions and reverting. If it is good on your end, would you happen to know how to fix it on mine? Is it the cache perhaps? likelolwhat talk lulzy to me 05:58, 5 July 2014 (GMT)

It's showing up on mine. A lot of times, pictures don't appear to update immediately, but in reality they actually do. You just have to wait a bit for it to show. :) •WoahBro►talk 12:54, 5 July 2014 (GMT)

Youtube links[edit]

Hey, Dom! Just to let you know, this isn't really necessary. The link provided was an embed link that worked perfectly fine, so there's not really any need to change it to the URL form. Thanks! Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 13:03, 6 July 2014 (GMT)

I did that because often times shortened/changed URLs are referral links that give someone money, points, credit, etc. for every click through. Although, my lack of familiarity with YouTube turned out to make that unnecessary lol. :) ~ Ad intellige (talk) 19:22, 6 July 2014 (GMT)

Marking Unsigned Posts[edit]

In instances like this, where the post is forumlike and/or a necropost, it's better to just revert it than to add a timestamp since it's going to end up being reverted anyway. Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 21:41, 9 July 2014 (GMT)

Lightbox[edit]

Howdy thar! Is the lightbox working now? I ended up crashing for a while, in the middle of us talking about it XD (And I'm at work now so can't check IRC) ~DimeCadmium...!!1! 18:50, 10 July 2014 (GMT)

Heh, I actually fell asleep too. Apparently coffee will wear off rather quickly XD Anyways, yea it is now working. Thanks again for the help! ~ Ad intellige (talk) 18:53, 10 July 2014 (GMT)
Awesome! I'll be stealing it now, then. ;) ~DimeCadmium...!!1! 19:03, 10 July 2014 (GMT)
At this point I think I will steal most of your Javascript and you can steal my CSS (Since I am clearly not very well versed in JS :)) ~ Ad intellige (talk) 19:05, 10 July 2014 (GMT)

Patroller Nomination[edit]

LOL...I don't think I've seen a patroller nomination yet where the person in question didn't make some kind of mistake on it, or a big mistake elsewhere shortly after. I don't remember whether I made any during my nomination, but I do remember Nephele reverting me twice in the same day only a day or two after I became a patroller. :) Robin Hood  (talk) 14:37, 16 July 2014 (GMT)

I do believe that the nominations are cursed to make the nominee make some kind of mistake. :P ~ Ad intellige (talk) 17:58, 16 July 2014 (GMT)
