Inaccurate IP Logging[edit]

Hi! You left me this message: http://www.uesp.net/w/index.php?title=User_talk:115.124.4.98&redirect=no

FYI, the first time in my life editing this wiki is right now, leaving you this message. I had nothing to do with the edit you linked, nor do I know who Sheogorath or Aaron are, as I am still very much in the beginning of the game. Thanks for your concern, but it appears the incorrect IP was logged.

Lucien Lachance[edit]

Hey Dlarsh! Thanks again for looking into Lucien Lachance. One thing we need to consider (maybe the next time you are on IRC, maybe here) is how to implement the limited schedule of Lucien into the text. I’d prefer to explain his limited appearances whenever it fits with “the story” (instead of just adding a tiny schedule at the top of the page). The schedule can be found here. Let me hear what you think – or hit me on the chat! --Krusty 22:03, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Damn, I almost forgot to hand you one of these! Thanks for helping me out with Lucien Lachance – I was seriously stuck in that gigantic wave of odd dialogue, multiple question options, and rumors I didn’t have the heart to delete! Incredibly helpful to get a fresh set of eyes on that chaotic page and I think it turned out great! Thanks again! --Krusty 21:06, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Krusty, it felt good to get back into it. Lets do it again some time :) Dlarsh(T,C) 22:12, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Haha, let me know when you are up for some more fun challenges - I have a to-do list from hell! ;) --Krusty 22:52, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

SI Redesign Project[edit]

Hey there, I just wanted to let you know that following the re-organization of the SI revamp project I did here I've put you down as a potential Task Leader for the "Quests" section. Let me know if you have any problems with that or questions. Cheers. --SerCenKing Talk 14:07, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Fantastic idea, I'm in! Is there any particular order you would prefer (main quest first, followed beside quests?), or just as we get to them? Dlarsh(T,C) 22:27, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Hey Dlarsh - and welcome to this hellish project! I was just on IRC with SerC and he fell asleep while checking Big Head, so I thought I'd reply for now. Looking through your section here, I'm a bit puzzled why quests like Through the Fringe of Madness is nowhere to be found. In my opinion, we might as well read through ALL quest pages (even the ones we consider "finished") to ensure a high standard, and right now, as the OBNPCRP and OPRP progresses, the poor quest pages pale in comparison. Hopefully, SerC will add the remaining quests to the project page tomorrow. Oh, and I'm 100% certain you are free to do whatever you want - there is no particular order. Good luck! :) --Krusty 22:55, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I just assumed the quests already there were ones that had already been worked on; I'll probably run through the full SI quest list either way. This is great timing too, I'm (once again) dropping to part time in a few weeks, which means I'll have the household PC all to myself for a decent chunk of the day :) Dlarsh(T,C) 14:29, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Hey Dlarsh! Great to have you onboard. Yes, the quests that aren't there are the ones I'd already done. However, considering I added a "Checked" parameter to the section, I figured I might as well include them. There is no specific order, although clearly if you do the main quest it's much easier to just work through them (that's what I did). --SerCenKing Talk 14:55, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

The Lady of Paranoia[edit]

Hail, oh quest leader - where art thou? I just tested Nelrene's behavior countless times during the Lady of Paranoia, and ran into a few bugs we should test when work begins. I know we went through this one before, but obviously there's still a bit of work to be done. Two bug tests are necessary:

  • After the secret meeting, torturing Nelrene first (and make her confess) will cause two map markers to appear inside Ma'zaddha's house. One for him and one for where his dead body is supposed to be. He will still promise to help you, but will keep up his regular routine no matter how long you wait, because the game already decided he is dead, which he is not. I solved it by talking meaninglessly with Nelrene, but it needs a second look.
  • Right after the secret meeting, talking to Ma'zaddha will make the same map marker appear on the floor in his house; for whatever reason, when I waited until 4am (when the meeting is supposed to end) and entered his house, he was dead as planned.

I find that unmotivated map marker worth exploring, in both cases. It's definitely worth mentioning (probably a lot more than the pile in the current bugs section - so just let me know when you get to it; I'll help with the testing. --Krusty 14:54, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Hey Krusty, I'm still here, and chugging along with my character (though I'm running into some issues with installing the expansion... going to try again once I've finished grinding my character up and hope for the best). As for those bugs, they definately seem like something we should test. The second sounds like the isn't a time trigger for the cat's murder, that the quest mmoves on to the next stage as soon as the meeting is scheduled to end provided you've already spoken to him (I wonder if the same thing happens if you speak to him after the 4am cut-off? Something else to check.), and I vaguely remeber hearing/reading something to this effect when we ran through this one back in '09. The first sounds even more convoluted, and may need some extra checking in the CS once we retest it in-game; it sounds like in order to progress the quest, the game script forces Ma'zaddaha's death, at least in part. Weird.
P.S. I haven't noticed the Talk Page notification box before ("This page is intended to let other users leave a message for Dlarsh about wiki business. It is not meant for general chat. If you want to talk to Dlarsh, please consider using IRC or Email."), it's a nice touch. Dlarsh(T,C) 00:43, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Hey Dlarsh! Yeah, I have a feeling you are correct about the dead body (which is another version of the cat anyway, according to this). The game must trigger the map marker for it prematurely, so I guess we’ll have to go through it again. Anyway, today, I’ll revamp Ma'zaddha so maybe I’ll bump into more oddities along the way. Also, when doing the quest-related NPCs, I run into all sorts of quest-related stuff (which is natural, as I test every possible variation of solving the quest to get all the NPC dialogue nailed), so I think it’s a good idea if I note it down here as I go along – before I forget. Hope, that’s okay with you! In any case, I often include the small bits on the NPC pages, so if everything goes well, you should be able to find a LOT of relevant info when you start the quest pages.--Krusty 05:30, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
That'd be great if you could note any oddities you run into here; it'll deffinately be useful. Dlarsh(T,C) 15:33, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, seems like the map marker will always turn up when approaching him about the meeting, regardless of timing. Very odd. --Krusty 17:36, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Ghosts of Vitharn tests[edit]

Hey Dlarsh! Just a few observations you can use when going through the Ghosts of Vithern quest again. We need those VN-tags gone! Gonegonegone!

  • 2 quest updates without doll: Talk to Desideratus, then talk to Hloval or Althel and receive quest update. Touch one of the two Brazier’s and receive two updates. Talk to Desideratus, who will mourn over his Betrothed, but will continue to run into the Keep. Wait for the next battle and bug is gone.
  • 2 quest updates with doll: Rinse and repeat from above. Same solution.
  • Tried the bug description found here, step-by-step. Solved Althel, Solved Hloval, picked up doll, talked to Hloval about Desideratus, gave the doll to Desideratus, picked it up and burned it in the Mausoleum. Again, the exact same solution.
  • Burning the doll in the Mausoleum seems to “freeze” the outside battle, depending on where it is “at” when you leave the Mausoleum. Only the named Ghosts die, but the rest will remain, causing the quest to break. No panic, though – simply enter the Keep and re-enter the battlefield. The battle will then play as normal.
  • Wearing 100% Chameleon will prevent Hloval to stab you with Dagger of Depletion. He will, however, be fit for fight during the next attack, without ever using the dagger. Also mentioned somewhere is the fact that he can die while trying to drain your Magicka. This does not affect the quest at all, as he will just wake up to the next battle, without being stunted.

In short, with the exception of the minor bugs mentioned above, I couldn’t find any serious quest-breaking bugs in Vitharn. Now you have all the testing on record, so if you can think of something else to try, at least you have something to compare with. --Krusty 15:43, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Nice work :) that'll make checking the quest much easier. Thanks, Krusty Dlarsh(T,C) 14:55, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
A little more; I just revamped Bat's page and it seems there was an alternative way of getting the arrows (instead of stealing them). Check out the page (I think it is the 4th column), near the disposition-link. --Krusty 19:20, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
