Email appears to be broken again[edit]

Seems that emails have stopped working again; I haven't gotten any of the usual reply-notification or PM notification ones for roughly a week, though I should have gotten several. Could you take a look at that again? ~ Alarra (talk) 02:10, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Looks like HotMail blocked one of our servers again for no obvious reasons. I've submitted an unblock request and will check back in a day or two to see if it is fixed. -- Daveh (talk) 16:36, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
Well, I got two emails from a css.one.microsoft.com address to my personal email (the one I have linked to my forum/wiki account) that appear to be directed to you; one just with a ticket number and one with the results. Was that something you'd copied me on, or was that intended for you and it came to me instead? If you didn't get it, I can forward it to you. ~ Alarra (talk) 06:32, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
No, I wasn't intending to send or forward you that (I'm not sure if I got the e-mails mixed up or MS did). Feel free to forward me anything you received and I'll test out the e-mails this morning. -- Daveh (talk) 13:31, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Forwarded. ~ Alarra (talk) 13:54, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Any updates on this? ~ Alarra (talk) 23:33, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
I checked the logs and it seems hotmail e-mails are still bouncing but with a slightly different error message. I'll request help from MS again and see if they can do anything. -- Daveh (talk) 13:59, 20 February 2016 (UTC)
Anything new on this? I'm still not getting any UESP emails. ~ Alarra (talk) 07:40, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
I'll check it out again this week and see if Hotmail will work with us or not. -- Daveh (talk) 14:34, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
Could you perhaps look into this again? It's still broken, and we've been getting quite a few emails from users lately saying that they never received the activation email, requiring me to manually activate their forum account. ~ Alarra (talk) 19:00, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Collaboration[edit]

Hey Daveh. We've been receiving a few requests to have us appear on different podcasts and web shows. Most recently, Deltia's Gaming has asked if we wanted to collaborate for a special about the new houses, lore, and house styles. Is this something you're interested in doing? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:50, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Most definitely yes, although it doesn't necessarily have to be me. -- Daveh (talk) 16:22, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Doesn't necessarily have to be you, but you are actually one of the better candidates for this topic. You might also not be doing this alone, since a number of other people have expressed interest. I'll get a more firm time, and preferably a rough idea of what questions/topics that will be discussed, so you can be prepared. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:17, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

PTS Coefficients[edit]

Hey,

I was wondering if I could get early access to skill coefficients for the Homestead PTS (v 2.7.0). Thanks!

Asayre (talk) 11:16, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Yup! The mined skills are viewable here, raw skill data here and skill coefficient data here. Note that I haven't spent anytime fixing the coefficients so there are some that are not correct/inaccurate. -- Daveh (talk) 13:19, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks a lot =D Asayre (talk) 01:10, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Email[edit]

There's an email from me awaiting your pleasure. If you wouldn't mind finding some time to give it a look, I'd appreciate it, Chief. -damon  talkcontribs 16:10, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Map Giveaway[edit]

Hey Daveh, a few weeks ago, I accidentally submitted myself into the moderator version of the poster map giveaway and upon realizing my mistake, told AKB. I also filled out the normal editor form. This weekend, I received a map in the mail (which I thought was from the editor giveaway), but when I arrived home from school today, there was a second map in the mailbox. Sorry for the inconvenience, would you like me to mail it back? ElderScrollsBjorn (talk) 00:05, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Oh, that's probably more of my mistake of not noticing the double entry. Feel free to keep the extra map or give it away to someone else if you wish! -- Daveh (talk) 02:47, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Daveh =D ElderScrollsBjorn (talk) 02:54, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Discord[edit]

Just letting you know we have a Discord server now as a soft replacement to our IRC. As Discord provides a lot of features that make it both easier to manage and use, on both a user and operator level, it's been an astounding success, having increased our chatroom population to about ten times its average (from around 25 to around 250). if you want to join it, here's a link. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:18, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks...have been meaning to check it out and will get there soon! -- Daveh (talk) 17:28, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

ESO Item Gear Summary Appearance[edit]

Would it be possible to change the icon displayed by the <esoitemlink> html tag for gear summary from the lowest to the highest possible level? With the One Tamriel update, most gear should be linked as summary, and I assume more of our readers are at the high end of the leveling curve, especially when looking for items. -- SarthesArai Talk 17:08, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

I've updated the summary table to save the highest value icon and have rebuilt the table so it should now be updated. If you see any icon/data that doesn't seem to show the higher level icon let me know. -- Daveh (talk) 19:11, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
So far, I've seen no changes. Does it need more time? -- SarthesArai Talk 20:06, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
Looks like the item link display code wasn't using the summary icon. I changed that and it appears to work on a few items I checked. -- Daveh (talk) 20:21, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Eidetic Memory map icon[edit]

Small request, but we could use an icon on the ESO map to distinguish Lore books from Eidetic Memory books. My instinct would be to use the current paper icon used for Lore books as Eidetic instead, and add a new book-shaped icon for Lore books. Or possibly just make a purpley-blue version of the current icon for Lore books and use the white one for Eidetic. In any case, they should be distinct, and the Lore books should obviously stand out more than the Eidetic ones. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 16:34, 1 February 2017 (UTC)

Good idea. There were no plain book icons in the ESO data so I just took an item book icon and gave it a darker border and made it the new icon for lore books. I added the "Book / Note" type with the old lore book icon. Give it a look (probably have to do a full page reload to update the icon files). I'm not sure if the new lore book icon would be better as a just plain white icon instead of a colored one. -- Daveh (talk) 17:22, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
Looks good, though the darker color of the lore book icon does make the old white scroll icon stand out more against darker backgrounds. Maybe you could replace those with one of the notes icons (e.g. ON-icon-book-Note 02.png) so that they're both colored and neither stands out against the other official map icons? I don't know, I just think they should either be both white (or light color with a black outline) in the same style as all the other icons, or both colored like the new one, not one of each. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 16:42, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
If you want to see a sample of what this looks like, I've completed all the books in Hew's Bane (including Abah's Landing and the Thieves Den, but not the delves or quest-specific areas yet). — TheRealLurlock (talk) 06:31, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
I think a "plain" icon fits better with the rest of the icons so I changed the new lore book item to be a plain book with a light blue color/glow. -- Daveh (talk) 17:26, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
Yes, that's almost exactly what I was thinking of in my first suggestion. I might suggest a bit more purple in the hue, to match the purple glow you see around these books in-game (and also to prevent confusion with Thieves Troves), but otherwise, I think that look fits much better. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 07:41, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

Facebook Permissions[edit]

Nicholasleedust is requesting permission to post from our Facebook account. His name on Facebook is Nicholas Dust and his associated email is nicholasleedust@gmail.com. Do you need any other information to add him? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:56, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

I needed his Facebook name/account which I found from his user page and have sent an invite. -- Daveh (talk) 21:07, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
Got the invite! Thanks! Nicholas Lee Dust 03:32, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Leftover Maps[edit]

Now that some time has passed, do any copies of the Tamriel map remain? I would like to organize a few more giveaways on social media this month, in between announcements. If you have any left you're willing to part with, I can organize giving them away, determining who gets them and getting mailing information, unfortunately I can't help with the actual mailing from where I am :P --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:01, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Yup, we have a bunch (over 100) left so feel free to use them as prizes as you wish. Just let me know about how many you'll be using. Addresses can be submitted the same way as last time. -- Daveh (talk) 13:22, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

Alchemy Calculator[edit]

http://esolog.uesp.net/viewPotions.php is giving the wrong answer for combinations of Nirnroot, Stinkhorn & Torchbug Thorax. This should give Ravage Health, Fracture, and Enervation. However the Calculator thinks it gives Ravage Health, Fracture & Unstoppable. It seems that Unstoppable has been removed from Torchbug Thorax and replaced with Enervation. baratron (talk) 06:21, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Ahh, good catch. Was just a typo in a constant definition. Fixed! -- Daveh (talk) 13:17, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Request for using esoitemlink externally[edit]

Back when ESOHead was still being updated, they had a page containing how to call their site externally to provide tooltips to all of the things linked from their page. Their page is greatly outdated, but that concept is one that I'd like to be able to use when creating a site for my microscopic guild (We look out for set items for each other). I've poked around with the header includes and looked at the js code to see that most things are referenced relatively instead of absolutely. I know that introducing this could put more demand on the site and if that were the reasoning why it hasn't occurred yet then that's understandable. I just figured that this capability would make sites able to show items in a vastly superior way and be implemented fairly easily. As the end of my message, thank you for the site you've created. This is an amazing resource and one I try to let anyone I talk to about ESO know of its amazingness. — Unsigned comment by GraysAnatomy (talkcontribs) at 13:43 on 17 April 2017 (UTC)

It was sort of designed with this in mind although we've never advertised/documented it as such and you're the first one to ask about it. It "should" be a simple matter of:
  • itemid='#'
  • inttype='#'
  • intlevel='#'
  • level='#'
  • quality='#'
  • itemlink='...'
There's a bit more documentation at User:Daveh/ESO_Log_Collector#ItemLink_Documentation but if you run into issues let me know. You would be the first to try it outside of the UESP servers so there may be a few tweaks we have to make to make it work (already made one change on the server to permit item link data to be requested from outside of the UESP but there may be more changed needed).-- Daveh (talk) 13:55, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
I had figured that you might've intended that, though I couldn't find reference to it. What you've linked should be sufficient, I've got to give it a shot at some point today/tomorrow. Thanks again, this is awesome! — Unsigned comment by 73.173.198.109 (talk) at 15:18 on 17 April 2017
Just wanted to give you an update, it works fantastically. The image link is absolutely fantastic as an idea and I was able to pretty quickly integrate it into a Discord bot (though I want to find a different bot, maybe I'll roll my own). Can't thank you enough, this'll be helpful for what my group is doing. — Unsigned comment by GraysAnatomy (talkcontribs) at 04:38 on 18 April 2017

Skill req errors in database[edit]

I've been going through the skills, and noticed a couple where we have incorrect data relating to their requirements in the database.

It's important that these be correct in the database, because I'm pretty sure Robinhood's bot gets its data from there and will override fixes made to the pages by human editors. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 19:06, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks...I'll fix these when I'm back in a few days. -- Daveh (talk) 13:55, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
Should be all fixed now! -- Daveh (talk) 15:32, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Leveled items off by 1[edit]

Another discrepancy I noticed is with the leveled items. I first saw it with potions, but now I see it's true of glyphs as well, possibly other things. Take for example: Glyph of Absorb Health. If you set the Quality to Normal and the Level to 1, you get a glyph with both its values at 0, e.g. Trifling Glyph of Absorb Health. The value for 2-4 is correct (even though you can't actually create glpyh at these levels). At level 5, it still shows the values that should be there for level 1: Trifling Glyph of Absorb Health and it only goes up to the next value at level 6: Inferior Glyph of Absorb Health. The same is true at all qualities (though the 0 stats one occurs only at Normal). I think this discrepancy resolves itself somewhere around level 50 (the idea that there can be a level 50 glyph with CP 0 seems like it might be related - pretty sure that's not a thing.) I'd look into that though. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 16:53, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Assuming this is only happening with the glyphs? If so it is probably just due to how glyphs work in game. When you create a Trifling glyph its level is actually set to 5 (http://esoitem.uesp.net/itemLink.php?itemid=43573&intlevel=5&inttype=20). I don't believe you can actually get a level 1 glyph in game. The database values do match the glyph values in-game if you manually create a level 1 glyph item link. If this is causing an issue elsewhere (like the Build Editor) let me know. -- Daveh (talk) 15:15, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Mobile App[edit]

Welcome back from vacation, sorry to be bugging you already. One of the long lasting items on the task list is being worked on. We have a small team of three people working on making a Mobile App for the UESP. The development appears to be going well, but they need some help. Here's a list of things they need from you.

  • Your blessings/support.
  • A fix for the mobile site's advert so that it no longer is a fixed size, causing overscroll.
  • Moving the mobile site's advert down slightly so that the search bar is at the top.
  • Help with various API tidbits/information.
  • Integration of app into the mobile site?
  • Currently you need to log in to edit on the mobile site, even when a page is unprotected, is this intended?
  • the pop up that tells you to log in to edit can't really be seen on mobile as it's way at the bottom, some devices don't see it at all and may cause users to get confused
  • what legal information would you like us to include into the app, e.g. privacy policy/ToS/copyright information
  • technical question: the API used to log in to the wiki sends username and password over plain text in POST (api.php?action=login&lgname=user&lgpassword=password), this seems insecure, is this intended?

I know that's a lot, but things are going good so far! You can either give me your responses and I'll make sure they get them, or stop by #app_development on Discord, where they're organizing it from. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:26, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

I'll try to answer as best I can:
  • I'll have to look at the app itself before I can say but people have been asking for one for a while now.
  • There are only fixed size ad units available with Curse. What exactly is the issue? The 728x90 banner shouldn't be large enough to cause issues on most modern mobile screens.
  • Tweaking the ad position/layout is possible.
  • I don't know much about the MediaWiki API itself but can help as needed. RobinHood or the MW API documentation would probably be better.
  • Unsure what you mean by integration...itself the mobile app just the site contents displayed in a customized skin/browser?
  • The mobile site should be identical to the main site in terms of permissions so I'll have to check this issue out.
  • Popup CSS can be easily tweaked.
  • All related legal information would be the same as the website.
  • This is the MW API itself so you'd have to check the documentation for it to see if it was intended or not. It could be fixed in a subsequent MW update (we're a few major versions behind at the time).
More details on the app itself and what exactly is being worked on would be good to know. -- Daveh (talk) 15:02, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
You should be able to get up to speed on what is currently being worked on in the #app_development channel on Discord. --Enodoc (talk) 16:16, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Just to cover all the bases, I answered the login question on Discord. The gist of it is that while you can send the password and token in the URL and then do an empty POST, you're supposed to send the parameters in the POST block itself. Robin Hood  (talk) 20:10, 17 July 2017 (UTC)
Hello, T_J from the Mobile App project. I guess I'll start off with the fact that I'm not very familiar with how editing works on the wiki, so sorry if the formatting is incorrect or if I make any mistakes. The whole project started off as a personal project of mine, I just wanted to make a UESP viewer app for myself to browse UESP articles on the go with a few added functions that the mobile site didn't have. Anyway, I posted a screenshot of an early build in the #wiki-discussion channel, some people agreed to help, some admins liked the idea and here we are now.
RE: advert, on small screens the advert seems to overextend to the side, causing an over scroll as can be seen here ->
[1]
RE: integration I just meant adding a link to the sidebar of the site to the app store page (if we ever publish it)
[2]
Thanks for the rest of your answers, and as robinhood has already explained, I misunderstood the login API documentation, I falsely assumed that it required the username and password as it showed in the API example request URL, but on further investigation it requires POST else it returns an error code, so sorry about that.
RE: wanting more details on the app, so far it is the mobile version of the site embedded into an app (which is why I was asking about the mobile scroll problems), however I would like to change it before release that so that the app uses information from the mediawiki API to display content natively (like the wikipedia app currently does). You can see some screenshots of the current progress here:
[3]
Everything (including the name and the "official" part) is up for discussion at the moment, so I would appreciate any input or opinions you have. As Enodoc said, we're organizing this in the #app-development section of discord, but we can talk here if you want, too. Finally, we have a Trello board available, so you can see what progress we're making and what we need to work on, as well as the ability to suggest ideas directly. The only problem is that there doesn't seem to be a way to create a unique invite link for one person and for one use, so I'd rather not share the link here as it's a private board for the moment. (There is a link in #app-development available if you're interested, or I can PM you the link, it is the same link for everyone either way). --T J (talk) 23:17, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Predictive Search with Namespace[edit]

I've been looking for a while, and I just can't find any documentation about how the search engine does predictive search with all our namespaces. I know it's been discussed somewhere before, but can't find the relevant discussions. Can you point me to them? We're trying to make sure that feature is present for when the app's release. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:32, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Not sure what documentation we have on this, if any, but the asynchronous show-as-you-type in the search box is handled by the MW API. If you open a dev window (F12) and type in the search box you can see the API requests. If that's not what you're after let me know. -- Daveh (talk) 21:01, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Twitch[edit]

Hey, we have some people interested in streaming with Twitch for the UESP. Since you registered an account there, how would we go about setting it up to give people access to it? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 05:32, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Autoplay Twitch commercials[edit]

Hey Daveh, I get the problem that every UESP page autoplays (with sound) an advertisement on the bottom of the page from this Twitch page: [4], which is really annoying. Even when I put it on pause, it starts again when I go to another tab and when I have more than one UESP page open, more of them start to play...

Legends namespace and improvements[edit]

Hey Dave, I have two requests and I wonder if they are possible and/or desirable for you to implement? I have had some discussions with other WikiEditors (i.a. KriHavok, SarthesArai) about the Legends namespace and what can be used to improve the UESP in this domain.

  • 1 When you look at this page from Magic the Gathering: [5] and you scroll down a bit (section Every shape, Color, Size for example) and then when you hover over one of the Card names, you'll get a pop-up with the card image. Is anything like this possible for Legends cards? Something like this is already in place for ESO items: Online:Quondam Indorilia, but I don't know how much different it would work and if the amount of time you need to implement this isn’t unreasonable long.
  • 2 (ripping of the reply from KriHavok on the Discord) Also, competitor Legends websites use deck builders (similar to the ESO skills builder), is this possibly something that could also be produced? We think this would be healthy for the wiki in light of what competing sites use, and would be a fantastic resource for Legends players and enthusiasts alike. One other thing could be a card search engine; something of this ilk (again MTG): [6], which for example can be used in a way that 'if you search for 'magicka = 1; text = move; type = action' that you can find all action cards with magicka cost 1 and that can move creatures'. Not sure if any of this is something you could work on, but it would be greatly appreciated if you do find the time to do so!

--Ilaro (talk) 13:15, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments/suggestions. I haven't played much Legends myself so suggestions like these are good. #1 is reasonably simple to implement I believe. I'll take a look at something quick, assuming we have info/images for all the cards already. #2 is more complex but doable with a little effort. My time lately is stretched due to having a new baby in the household but I'll try to look at and get something done in the next few weeks (feel free to remind me if nothing happens). -- Daveh (talk) 00:40, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
Congratulations on the new baby! (Also, sorry for butting in.) :) Timeoin (talk) 01:02, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
Np...many thanks! Its exhausting but worth it! -- Daveh (talk) 01:15, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
100% agree there! (And now, I will leave this thread alone, because it was not my intention to hijack the thread). Timeoin (talk) 01:23, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

() Hey Dave, thank you for the response (congrats with the baby! I myself am also quite busy with RL stuff, so sorry for the late reply). Yes we have all card images already on the site plus all card effects and abilities (example of an average card: Sharpshooter Scout). We will gladly answer any questions you have about game rulings or if you want other information about the game. Thank you considering our suggestions!— Unsigned comment by Ilaro (talkcontribs) at 00:07 on 6 October 2017

A bit late here, but it has been suggested that card audio is also included. I've no idea where in the files this is contained, but Alarra or Sarthes may be able to be of some help there. —Fullertontalk﴿ 23:59, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
Hey Daveh, I assume you are rather busy, but you said I could remind you if nothing happened. We also have all audio files extracted now, so I am also quite curious how the TimedMediaHandler is coming along. --Ilaro (talk) 15:26, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
See the short update on the extension below. Note that ESO has a new DLC out next week which will take a good week of dedicated work to do by itself. -- Daveh (talk) 15:30, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
The new pop-up feature is looking great already! However, we probably need to think about the deckbuilder and how feasible it is (because I don't want to waste your time on a feature I requested that might not get used). Another site named Legends-decks is quite popular now with a nice looking and easy to use Deckbuilder. I think it would only be worth it to make a Deckbuilder for the UESP if it can be made better than the 'competitors'. Otherwise there would be no incentive for those people to come here.
On another note, I am still much in favor of the search engine for cards and I am also wondering how the TimedMediaHandler is coming along (I know you are busy, so I don't want to bug you too much, I am just curious). --Ilaro (talk) 18:02, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I found that deck builder and was using it for ideas/concepts. Whether we can do better is a good question and depends whether people can think of additional features that site doesn't have, or if it is useful to have it integrated within the UESP. As for the TimedMediaHandler, I haven't done anything with it and was going to ask you if it is working to what you need? I have been unable to get the server side portion of the extension working but if you only need the client side then I can install it on all servers easily. -- Daveh (talk) 19:42, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

() I will make a post on the community portal in a couple of days, so we can brainstorm what kind of features people like to have included in the deckbuilder and if that would be feasible to accomplish. I will also ask around on the Discord to see if we can get some more input. The TimedMediaHandler seems to work fine (also for other people). I made an example page here: [7]. It sometimes reverts back to the non-audio player links. Not sure why, but it has maybe something to do with it being a mirror page of the wiki? If it is not working properly, use Show preview on the content3 server, then you can see the audio player is working fine. The only issue I can see is the time display is not showing up in the audio player when you press play. That is a quite minor issue, because most audio files for now are less than 5 seconds long. Only if we ever want to upload larger files, it might become a problem. --Ilaro (talk) 23:30, 21 November 2017 (UTC)

I think the issue with the audio links not showing up is due to content3 forwarding to en when you save the page. Once it is rolled out to all servers this should go away. If not I'll look into the issue further. I'll install and test it tomorrow. -- Daveh (talk) 01:46, 22 November 2017 (UTC)
The TimedMediaHandler extension should now be active on all servers. Let me know if you still have issues with it. -- Daveh (talk) 15:03, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

Morrowind Map[edit]

The Morrowind Map seems to have a link rendering problem, or something close to it. On the map some links with an apostrophe or a comma only partially fill a link, the same way mediawiki only partially fills a link if you ask it to with commas and brackets (eg [[Online:Houses, Shops, and Trade|]] appears as just Houses). There are a few examples on the Morrowind Map Design talk page, but a few others include Kogoruhn, Charma's Breath, and Bensamsi, Sixth House Base. Most of the apostrophied names are houses, and the link goes to the person, so its hard to tell if it's deliberate or not, but there are many cases where it's the family name and it is then a bad link. Thanks...I've tweaked the link display and fixed the database entry for all locations with a single quote in them. It seems to be working now but if you find something that still doesn't work let me know. Note that some of these locations still point to a wiki article that doesn't exist. -- Daveh (talk) 16:22, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Extension Request[edit]

Hi Dave. There's been a suggestion that it would be nice to be able to add audio tracks to the Legends cards so they can include each card/character's dialogue or sound effects. I'm sure it'll come in useful for other things over time as well. In order to integrate sound files properly, though, without the browser taking you off the page, we'd need the TimedMediaHandler. Can you have a look at it and if there are no issues with doing so, can you install it, please? Thanks! Robin Hood  (talk) 07:32, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

Am looking into it now...unfortunately it requires server installation of a half-dozen libraries and other utilities so it may be a while before I can get them all figured out. -- Daveh (talk) 17:44, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
I've tried to install this extension this week but ran into problems with building the required dependencies but I'll keep trying. It's also possible we don't need these libraries depending on exactly what we want to do with the extension. I can try installing the extension itself without the server libraries to see if/what works while I figure out the rest. -- Daveh (talk) 15:29, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
It is mostly the audio player we are interested in to have. So if it is possible without the other dependencies, that would be great! --Ilaro (talk) 15:44, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
TimedMediaHandler is now installed *only* on the content3 server (replace en.uesp.net with content3.uesp.net for testing). The server libraries are not completely installed. If you could test how you'd like to use this extension and let me know if it works or not that would be great. -- Daveh (talk) 15:50, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
No luck so far. I tried the links in Ilaro's Sandbox, and all I got back was a database query error. It looks like it was trying to actually follow the link, though, rather than playing it. Robin Hood  (talk) 18:04, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Strange as there are no error logs generated from that page or actual error/exception details. -- Daveh (talk) 18:31, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

() I just noticed that Ilaro's sandbox can no longer be edited. Robin Hood  (talk) 02:20, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Whenever I try to add a new audio file to any page on the content3 server, it returns the error message. --Ilaro (talk) 11:26, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
Some small progress...there was a database table for the extension missing and not specified in the installation steps. Installing that caused the a media player to appear for the 3 media files on the test page but editing and saving the page reverts these to plain links and I can't get the player to reappear (no idea why). The player does appear at the top of the file page if you click the medialink. -- Daveh (talk) 15:01, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
I just got the same problem! When I clicked my sandbox, I did see 3 audio players. Then I edited them a bit and they worked when I used 'Show preview'... until I saved the page. Now they are just links again. --Ilaro (talk) 16:27, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
Try doing a forced reload of the page (in Chrome it is Ctrl+Reload). This worked for me just now and displays the 3 media players. Probably related to missing Javascript from the new extension if the audio links remain as links. -- Daveh (talk) 16:45, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
It does seem to work now, thank you! Let's see if RobinHood70 gets the same result. Hopefully it will stay this way. --Ilaro (talk) 17:22, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
If it seems to be working for everyone and does what you need it you to do just let me know and I'll roll out the change to all servers. -- Daveh (talk) 20:21, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

() It also seems to be working for other users. I did find one minor issue though, the time display is not working properly in the audiobox. However, most audio files we have are less than 5 seconds, so it is not yet that important. Only if we want to add larger music files it might become a problem (which is not yet the intention). --Ilaro (talk) 20:50, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Translation to Italian[edit]

Pointing out this conversation. Is there a more formalized process in place for this, beyond just asking on AN? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 06:52, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
