Welcome![edit]

Hiya Biffa! I assume you're the same user who has signed comments on talk pages with "Biffa" before creating an account? Either way, welcome to UESPWiki! It's great when we get new members. Just thought I'd send you a welcome with some helpful info. Check out the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at the Userboxes page: a near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~ (do not sign edits to articles). Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun!

Thank you ABC, I am THAT Biffa indead. I've been meaning to click the button for ages. Love the site and big thanks to all contributers for both Skyrim and Oblivion! Will try and learn the edit and then get stuck into my sandbox. Biffa (talk) 00:16, 16 March 2013 (GMT)
Sure thing, Biffa. :) The links above are really helpful to start out, so definitely check them out when you have the time. And welcome again! Have fun editing. :) — ABCface 00:20, 16 March 2013 (GMT)
Hey, Biffa, it's no big deal, but I just wanted to point out that you don't need to put your signature on edits to your userpage. Only talk page posts need to be signed. --AN|L (talk) 18:42, 2 October 2013 (GMT)

thanks!

Wreck of the Icerunner[edit]

Hiya Biffa! I finally got around to checking out your edits to the Wreck of the Icerunner page, you added quite a bit of content! Thanks for that, the page was pretty bare before you helped it out. :) I don't have an appropriate save on my game to check out the area in-game (haven't yet started the related quest in this playthrough) so I was only able to check it out for wiki formatting, writing style, grammar, etc., and then also check some of the items and containers/locks in the CK for leveled information. I was not able to check on the gameplay-specific details like items being marked as owned and therefore counting as stealing when taking, or the effects of how entering without clearing enemies will result in the items being taken, etc. So if I reworded anything to change the meaning of those explanations, please feel free to fix it, as I was editing from a writing perspective rather than a gameplay perspective for those specific parts. There was also a sentence I didn't quite understand, due to the writing style and grammar, so perhaps you might want to take a look and reword that one anyway? I noted which one in my edit summary. As for your edits to the page, I added some links and addressed some grammar stuff, but when it comes to the amount of detail I would say that you did a good job. You addressed where enemies are, and what type, as well as documenting notable items to look for while there. Some editors have different opinions on how much item detail to go into (whether to list all food items, all clutter containers, etc.) but my opinion is that any rare items should be mentioned, as well as any weapons and armor, and also anything related to crafting (e.g., ingredients for alchemy, soul gems for enchanting, tools/materials for smithing). If you'd like some more specific feedback, or have any questions about a particular change I made, feel free to ask. — ABCface 22:48, 6 October 2013 (GMT)

You copied my template :)[edit]

I'm glad someone else found the format useful. But the notes link I have on my userpage goes to my notes page, which is a grab-bag of really minor stuff. You don't seem to have one, so the link on your userpage is red. You might want to either create a notes page similar to mine, User:Morrolan/Notes or remove that link. (You can create a page by clicking a red link. You'll be prompted to edit it by the wiki as soon as you do that.)

Also I wanted to encourage you to keep on editing. Your grammar isn't great but it'll get better the more you write, and honestly, what you're doing is adding information about places, which is really useful. Editing grammar is so much easier than looking through the game to find these details, your contributions are greatly appreciated. Keep it up please. :) --Morrolan (talk) 16:38, 7 October 2013 (GMT)

Thank you for your comments, I am trying to learn from my mistakes. I love the Elder Scrolls games and find it even more fun looking at places and adding details. It's lovely to be appreciated! I have created my notes page and will think of what I want to add there. I'm look at several peeps pages and taking bits from different people. — Unsigned comment by Biffa (talkcontribs) at 12:35 on 8 October 2013

Adding bugs[edit]

You're probably going to be adding more bugs that you come across, so you should know how. Use the bug template, documented at Template:Bug.

For a normal bug that you've just added, it needs verification. So you put in something like this: {{Bug|This is the bug I found|vn=1}}

The vn=1 code means needs verification. It puts a little red question-mark by the bug, and adds the page to a category used to find bugs that need checking.

If there's a bug on a page with that little red question-mark that you didn't add but you've experienced as well, you can change it to a confirmed bug by changing vn=1 to confirmed=1. So then the bug might look something like {{Bug|This is the bug that someone else found|confirmed=1}}

If there's a discussion section on a page about a bug that needs verification, then you can link the bug template to the discussion section by using a section code, like this: {{Bug|This is the bug we're talking about|vn=1|section=Name of the discussion}}

Those three templates would look like this on the page:

  • This is the bug I found ?
  • This is the bug that someone else found
  • This is the bug we're talking about ?

Sandboxing[edit]

Hey Biffa. I noticed you launching an article overhaul before it was entirely complete to prevent your work being lost. Usually it's a good idea to rewrite articles on a personal "sandbox" page. You can then copy and paste the completed version onto the main article. You can create a sandbox at User:Biffa/Sandbox/1 or something similar. —Legoless (talk) 19:25, 19 October 2013 (GMT)

Thanks for that I've been doing most of my updates 'live' while clearing places, and until today been very lucky not to lose anything I've written, today lost everything I wrote for cidna mine, so had to redo the whole quest to get the info again. Will use a sandbox in future as I guess I can save these regularly? Biffa (talk) 20:31, 19 October 2013 (GMT)
Yep, you can do what you like to a sandbox, it's in your userspace. —Legoless (talk) 20:46, 19 October 2013 (GMT)

Interior Images[edit]

Hey Biffa! A cookie is coming up for all your hard work on the various place- and house pages – but I wanted to ask you a favor. When you have finished a house article, I’d be quite happy if you would request an interior image on the Image Requests page. That way, we can get interior images on the house pages right away, instead of me looking through all finished articles to find the ones with no image. Thanks in advance! ☺ --Krusty (talk) 23:57, 24 November 2013 (GMT)

Will do, please let me know if I'm not getting this or anything else right. Do you need me to go through my recent updates, particularly houses in Skaal village? Take care. — Unsigned comment by Biffa (talkcontribs) at 01:58 on 25 November 2013

You have been given a cookie!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

Hey Biffa! There is no such thing as asking too much. Here’s a treat for the TON of valuable info you have added to place pages recently – a seriously impressive effort! --Krusty (talk) 22:06, 27 November 2013 (GMT)
Now I understand what you meant about due a cookie! Thank you very much, I love this site and love feeling like I'm contributing and hopefully getting better at it and a BIG thank you to everyone's help and patients along the way. My first award, so how long can I stand here thanking people? my agent, my band, my neighbor, my neighbors pet stinky....just like the Oscars. Biffa (talk) 22:27, 27 November 2013 (GMT)

Question[edit]

Hiya! Just one question (or more like a request) regarding this. Could I get some more details on what you want for the image? The new version I uploaded does have the gate closed so I don't really understand what you meant by that. Perhaps you'd like the gate to be more visible? --S'drassaYes? 18:46, 3 December 2013 (GMT)

Aha, now I understand the picture I'd like to replace is the one in the tunnel full of vegetation with the unlocked gate just before the two large tents and the wooden ramps leading up. Not the master locked gate at the end of the mine. I've titled the existing one "the front door" if you look at the walkthrough, but I thought it better to give the image name sorry for the confusion. I hope this helps and mean it when I say thank you for your efforts taking the images, as they make all the difference on the pages! Biffa (talk) 03:20, 4 December 2013 (GMT)
Ummm, but that is the one I replaced :P You did mean this one, right? Or did you mean another one? --S'drassaYes? 15:59, 4 December 2013 (GMT)
Yes that's the one, but the image you put up for both requests:
  * An image to replace this one: File:DB-interior-Damphall_Mine 04.jpg but with the gate shut.
  * An image of the final cave with the dead reaver bent backwards on top of the trap door with the waterfalls behind.
  ** File:DB-interior-Damphall Mine 09.jpg--S'drassaYes? 15:02, 3 December 2013 (GMT)
Did you miss one?
Forget all that I've had a similar problem with a couple of Psylocke's images. Not sure why but when looking at your image in either thumb or full screen they still show the previous images, but if I then click on them a third time it changes to exact what I was asking for, and what you took. I don't understand, but wonder if it's because they have the same name as the previous images. Sorry for the confusion Biffa (talk) 19:00, 4 December 2013 (GMT)
That happens when an image is replaced. Just refresh the page and you should see the new version :D --S'drassaYes? 19:09, 4 December 2013 (GMT)
Yes, the same name is the problem here, you were seeing the old image cached by your browser/proxy. You can force a reload, but it's browser specific - see here for details. --Alfwyn (talk) 19:15, 4 December 2013 (GMT)
As long it's showing the real images when seen by others, cos all the images are superb! and thanks for the info Biffa (talk) 19:36, 4 December 2013 (GMT)

Hrodulf and his house[edit]

Hey Biffa! I figured I'd point you towards this page for your images from Hrodulf's house. :) --Krusty (talk) 05:50, 4 December 2013 (GMT)

lol! all three of the images i wanted. I'll copy them from here. cheers Biffa (talk) 11:10, 4 December 2013 (GMT)

Incomplete Walkthrough[edit]

Hey Biffa, the last sentence of this dungeon walkthrough was left incomplete. Maybe you could finish it off? —Legoless (talk) 13:56, 15 December 2013 (GMT)

Not really, just poor sentence structure from me, I've reworded it so hopefully better English. Sorry. Biffa (talk) 20:46, 20 January 2014 (GMT)
