Hello viewing several. I'm Jonny and I joined this site as a registered user in September of 2008, although I have used it as reference material for well over a year. As a shiny new user, I ask you to be patient with my contributions and utterances as I'm still learning the ropes...

If, for whatever reason, you wish to contact me then your best bet would be to e-mither me. I do hope soon to be active through both my talk page, the UESPWiki chatroom (IRC) and also on the UESP Site forum but as I said, I'm green so please have patience.

Uniquely Fascinating[edit]

The history of the "Uniquely Fascinating" moniker is not necessarily long, but it is arduous. It has its roots in the 1987 pilot episode of one of my all-time favourite televisual comedic sketch programmes. The programme featured two stars; the first of who can now be seen chairing a quite interesting TV comedy panel quiz show whilst the second plies his trade as a cane-wielding, acerbic Doctor in an American drama series. The phrase, a simple sarcastic response by the former's character to the latter's, is now used as my e-mither address, forum handle and production company name. If any of the viewing several can identify the aforementioned stars, the initial programme and the shows in which they currently reside, they will be rewarded with a cookie.

In real life I'm Jonny; a Media Technician and Head of the Corporate Film Unit at the same University that I graduated from. I live in Leeds (England) but can also be found in Sheffield (England) and Edinburgh (Scotland). Although I do spend a lot of my time playing video games - mostly a little-known title called "Oblivion" - I keep myself busy the rest of the time by reading, researching history & mythology and writing fiction. I have a Golden Retriever named "MacGregor" who is my world and a best friend (Jimmy) who fortunately shares the same love of video games and level of insanity as me. It was in fact this friend who set me off on The Edler Scrolls road, with a title we like to call "Mozza..."

The Elder Scrolls and Me[edit]

Morrowind[edit]

Morrowind (MW) was my first ever experience of The Elder Scrolls series. At the time I had a laptop which, even though it was a good quality model, was not a huge fan of playing games. As such Jimmy was kind enough to lend me some of his games which he believed would work. Among this selection was MW - we call it Mozza - and even though the laptop struggled, it allowed me to play the game long enough to become hooked. Time progressed with me borrowing MW at every opportunity until I managed to complete it. Not long after that however, I heard eminating out of my TV the voice of Patrick Stewart claiming "find him, and close shut the jaws of Oblivion." It was time for me to leave Vvardenfell behind...

Oblivion[edit]

As soon as I was aware of Oblivion (OB) I wanted it. Unfortunately I was hindered once more by the quality of my laptop. A month or so after it's release however, I received an award for a film I had made and used half of the prize money to purchase an XBox 360 and a copy of OB - nicknamed Blivio, due to how the main menu appears. Since then I have spent a vast majority of my free time playing OB, and when I'm not playing it I usually can be found planning new characters, creating new playing strategies or writing fan fiction based within the Elder Scrolls universe. It would be close to impossible to be able to recount the various characters I have made and deleted, and my save game count is currently over 2500. When the Game of the Year (GOTY) edition was released for the XBox 360 I bought it immediately and I recently received a new PC for my birthday. Whilst still not technically capable of gaming, this PC handles (just) vanilla OB, granting me my first access to the OB console and mods. As such, this version is used as a testing centre, in order to carry out the following:

  • Tests of new character build ideas;
  • Trials of higher level perks to see if they are worth working towards;
  • Creation of poisons/potions to test whether they are worth the hunt for the ingredients;
  • Brainstorming for fan fiction work.

Now, well over two years later, I still find Oblivion fresh and exciting. I still spend most of my time in vanilla OB, rarely venturing into the Shivering Isles (SI) although I have completed that storyline once. Knights of the Nine (KotN) still remains unexplored and I am just about to purchase the official plug-ins from XBox Live. I owe a lot of gratitude to this site, as it has steered me through my time in OB, and hopefully it will be here for the many years to come.
