Our IRC Channel

Editors: Log on the IRC channel whenever active on UESP. This helps for quick discussion about articles. Discussions that can last weeks on UESP could possibly be had in 30 minutes or less through IRC. -Aristeo 16:51, 26 May 2006 (EDT)

Request

Might it not be helpful to give a few step-by-step instructions in various popular IRC programs on how to connect to the channel for those unfamiliar with IRC? I'm trying to figure it out in Trillian (which I use for all my IM'ing needs) and failing miserably. More people might show up at those meetings if they knew how to connect to it. Just a suggestion. --TheRealLurlock 00:07, 27 June 2006 (EDT)

Okay --Aristeo 00:16, 27 June 2006 (EDT)

I know a fair amount about IRC. May I write a guide for it? --Timmeh 20:29, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Broken Link

FYI: The external link to the IRC Tutorial is broken; the site appears to no longer exist.--Hoggwild5 07:47, 21 October 2006 (EDT)

Do you mean the link to www.ircbeginner.com/ircinfo/ircclass.html? It still seems to be working when I just tested it. --Nephele 11:52, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
Yes....that's the one. Can you believe I tried to get on this site for two days and couldn't get it to come up? But,today it seems to be working. Thanks for looking! --Hoggwild5 13:24, 21 October 2006 (EDT)
Must just be my magic touch ;) --Nephele 14:59, 21 October 2006 (EDT)

IRC down?

It seems that it is no longer possible to connect to the chatspike servers. Or at least every time I try, DNS is just telling me that the IP address for irc.chatspike.net (or stitch.chatspike.net) is 0.0.0.0, which makes it basically impossible to connect. I've tried a couple different DNS servers and a few different IRC clients (including java clients). Is anyone else having similar problems? --Nephele 22:37, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

Down here too. Might just be server upgrading or something. --TheRealLurlock 23:16, 22 October 2006 (EDT)
It's back up. --Aristeo 23:58, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

Link on sidebar

Could we change the link to this page on the sidebar so that it actually says "IRC"? I mean, I can see leaving "Chat and Support", but maybe have both, like: "Chat and Support (IRC)" or something. I think some people might have an easier time finding it if it were properly labelled. Any thoughts? --TheRealLurlock Talk 10:20, 22 November 2006 (EST)

Help! Can't get it to work.

I was able to get the Javascript client to work before, but it gave an error. I downloaded and installed the mIRC client, and it gives the same error when I try to connect. It looks like this:

ERROR Closing link (sstasino@68.72.173.203) [G-Lined: (68.72.173.203) was found on a DNS blacklist (AHBL), For more information visit http://www.chatspike.net/?p=dnsbl or email akill@chatspike.net]

Any clues what I have to do to fix this? (That 68.72.173.203 is not my IP when I try ipconfig) --Sstasino 15:58, 1 December 2006 (EST)

Bah. Read the link. Looks like the IP I was assigned is a banned IP. I'll have to see if I can refresh my DSL Modem's IP, and try again... --Sstasino 16:00, 1 December 2006 (EST)

Conflicting Founder Data?

The article states that Magnus holds founder status, but under that states that Aristeo holds founder status. Can more then one person hold founder status, or is this a mistake? -- Dylnuge(talk · edits) 11:17, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Magnus is the person who owns the channel. If you type in /msg ChanServ info #uesp, it says that Magnus is the channel's founder. However, Magnus has given me the password to the channel, so if I type in /msg ChanServ identify #uesp [password] then I will have all the abilities that Magnus has until I quit from the server. --Aristeo | Talk 14:02, 9 April 2007 (EDT)
