Change to General Pre-Release Template?[edit]

We're likely to be in this position again unless Skyrim is the last game in the series. Would it be alright if we changed it to a general pre-release template for use on all future articles for a to be released game? By simply removing the bit about it being specifically for Skyrim and making the link the main article as an optional field it should be a good template for all future games. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 00:34, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Good point -- although the next likely use is probably for DLC and expansions, rather than an entire new game. --NepheleTalk 01:37, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, I moved the page, then started to edit it... but opted to not edit it yet. Generalizing the template means that users looking at it right now won't see the message exactly as it will appear on new Skyrim pages -- at least not without a fair bit of extra work. The text can probably be left Skyrim-specific until there's another reason to use it. --NepheleTalk 01:50, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Temporary change to template[edit]

Since the game has just been released, but this template remains on many pages, I'm going to change it to say that the information on pages is incomplete and based on a new release. It seems silly to try and change all the pre release tags to new release tags, so I think a temporary change to this template is ideal. Once Skyrim information is more complete, we can change this template back. Or, if you disagree with my change, you could change it back now. Just go through all the articles and remove this template first, and replace it with a more appropriate one, if you do that. Chris3145 21:27, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Changing the template[edit]

I have been working on some possible new versions of this template, and I would like feed back (Oh, and Silencer helped a ton :) ) The two choices (at the moment) are shown here. For the upper option, the image and type of article change based on what namespace it is in, defaulting to the online image when no image is available. The bottom template uses the online image, but has no namespace dependent text at all. Thoughts? Other ideas? Jeancey (talk) 20:42, 20 February 2013 (GMT)

The image on the second one will change per namespace, I was just too lazy to implement it for an example. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:51, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
I like the wording in the lower one better. I'm a big fan of changing wording appropriately for different namespaces, though, so I'd definitely keep that. Robin Hood  (talk) 23:48, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
Since there is no opposition after a week (and 2 days :P), I'll make the change, using the bottom one, but with the words changing based on the namespace. Jeancey (talk) 21:14, 1 March 2013 (GMT)
Damned if I know why your 48px thing wasn't working. As you probably saw, I tried a couple of different things and it still didn't work. Obviously, for whatever reason, the #local/#define is being ignored in Template space...I just don't know why. Robin Hood  (talk) 23:02, 1 March 2013 (GMT)
