Random Event: Two children offer to sell you some loot

A Random Event I've had happen a couple of times is being approached by two child NPCs who want to sell you some Minor Loot. Both children are named, (don't remember their names, sorry), and in my experience of this encounter it takes place on or near a Road, and close to a City/Settlement. The children mention that their wares have come from a nearby ruin, and so far everything I've been offered has been Dwemer/Dwarven in origin, such as the Dwemer Knife & Fork, or bits of metal junk. It's been a while seen I've met these two entrepreneurs and I don't remember if their mention of the items' origin triggers a Map Update or not.

Sond and Bottar are their names. I'm surprised this isn't on here already. The Silencer has spokenTalk 20:07, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Yup, that's the "Dwemer Junk Peddlers" quest (ID WERJ04). There's nothing in the scripting that says it has to be near a road, though it could well be that coincidentally, most places where it can occur just happen to be near roads. The location they refer to will always be Deep Folk Crossing, and it will indeed be added to your map if you ask Sond where it is or threaten to spank him. It looks like the items he has for sale are fixed: a Knife, Dwemer Scrap Metal, and two Dwemer Cogs. Robin Hoodtalk 22:22, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Four bandits using a chest on a cart not random?

To the new entry about four bandits using a chest on a cart as a bait: I have never encountered the four bandits using a chest on a cart as bait in any other location than on the road fork downhill North East of Lund's Hut. The one North East of Lund's Hut is so permanent you can even dimly see the pixel changes made by the cart on the UESP Skyrim Map, so I guess there is then permanent encounter locations. I have not explored the other to locations you mention, but I will. --MortenOSlash 05:17, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Robber's Gorge is northeast of Lund's Hut [1]. This one is north of shor's stone. It's down a steep winding road. The Silencer has spokenTalk 05:34, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
I went and checked both locations. The wagon north of Shor's Stone is involved in the quest "Compelling Tribute". The one I encountered south of Robber's Gorge is smaller, and has 4 live bandits and 1 dead bandit around it. I added that one to the random encounter list because I thought I had traveled that road before, but it turns out I hadn't. I ran through it again, starting at the DB snactuary, and it was still there. It appears that it is a fixed encounter. I will go ahead and remove it, and add it to the talk page. More or less confirmed in the CK as well. There are a number of world interactions that involve bandits, but none that I found involved four, and the one south of Robber's Gorge is indeed a fixed encounter. Robin Hoodtalk 22:57, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Splitting

Another thing I'm wondering about is if we should add the quest IDs to each entry. Just convert it to a table and have a column for the ID. That'll help make sure we don't get any duplications, and if we decide we want the list to be complete, we can easily compare it against the CK/CS List. Robin Hoodtalk 17:09, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Do we need the ids if the title in the cs is used. If you see my sandbox, the "quest" titles used in the cs are used, followed by a description (basic for now as they get compiled). The Silencer has spokenTalk 17:35, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
At first, I was thinking that the CK titles wouldn't work because some of them are blank, but looking closer, I think all the blank ones are pseudo-quests that are just used to store things like generic dialogue and such, so that might actually work. Your sandbox looks great! I'd say go with that, and if there are any unnamed quests that actually need to be inserted, we can make an exception and add something like "Unnamed Quest - ID: WExxxx". Rename

I cannot see why World Interactions is the name used for this page as neither word is used in the CS. The events are listed as Wilderness Encounters and I propose we rename the page (this name doesn't even have a redirect yet). Not all of them may be wilderness encounters, considering the ones in taverns and whatnot. I wouldn't oppose a "random encounters" rename, though. Vely►Talk►Email 23:28, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Update- World Interactions are events that occur due to your actions, ie stealing, shouting. This page seems to have been hijacked as there wasn't a page for the encounters. I now move for a seperation of these two types of events. The Silencer has spokenTalk 23:39, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
The ones listed as Wilderness Encounters are only in outside cells away from cities (the locations on this page are representative of the entire list, in which all are "wilderness" or related cells). There may be another name for those experienced inside cities, but I'm not certain what they would be called. Not that any non-wilderness events are on this page at the moment, just the talk page. Dawnguard Interactions

Two things:

  • I think the random encounters added by Dawnguard should be placed in a different section on this page
  • I think I had two random encounters that were added by the DLC. First, I came across a master vampire who attacked me out of nowhere. On his corpse was two new articles of clothing, Vampire Boots and Vampire Robes. Another encounter I just had was similar to the one where bandits dress up and impersonal Imperial Soldiers. As I was walking, a voice said, "Hey traveler! Come here!" And there appeared to be a group of Vigilants of Stendaar, but actually turned out to be three vampires, who then became hostile. On the ground were two corpses of actual Viligants.

I just had what I think was another new one. A leveled vampire and a "naked" NPC called "Vampire's Thrall" appeared to be acting as if the thrall was being attacked by the vampire. As soon as I approached, they both attacked, the thrall saying something like "this ruse always works". --XyzzyTalk 06:10, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
Xyzzy: that one's in the base game. Not sure why the NPC was naked...it looks like he should be in random Farm clothes, but I didn't look too closely, there may be other scripting or maybe randomly the farm clothes can be nothing. Robin Hoodtalk 21:23, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
In over 600 hours of play, I had never seen this one before, and it wasn't on the WI page, so I assumed it was new. I realized after I posted that, however, that I'm playing on the PC, so unless Bethesda has added DG content through a Steam update, I shouldn't have any DG content in my game <derp>. --XyzzyTalk 02:32, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Just had two and one was kinda weird and not sure it it counts as one anyway.
  • The first was a Vigilant Vampire hunter and a Vampire (A Fledgling for my level 1 but I assume its leveled) fighting. Of course in the first one it was a bit weird as the Vampire Fledgling was hit once then cowered as the Vigilant hit her a few more times eventually killing her.
  • Now the weird one was I ran in to a Vampire Fledgling on the fork south of Broken Fang Cave and she wasn't hostile, I hopped of my horse and tried talking to her but it said she was busy. She started running down the road so I followed her she made a few stops off the road between their and Whiterun. She crossed the bridge near Honningbrew Meadery then down the road a bit headed up the path to White River Watch, where she made the Bandits hostile. Insetad of fighting she turned around cast Invisibility and ran away, sadly after her second cast of Invisibility and me trying to deal with the bandits I lost her.
I do have the save still so I'll try following her again when I have some time. --SPMcKinney 03:54, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

I was attacked by three vampires, 2 fledgling & 1 blooded (I don't think they were leveled because I was level 77 when these chumps attacked) standing over the naked bodies of 3 dead Vigilants. They called me over (something like "You there, traveller. Come over here."), then attacked me. I was a vampire when this occurred, so it doesn't match any on this list, but I'm assuming it's a new DG one. --Xyzzy Talk 01:20, 6 September 2012 (EDT)

See this sandbox that The Silencer has been working on with a completely different format. This revamp should be launched soon. Currently, he's got the Dawnguard encounters integrated, for consistency with other pages in the Skyrim namespace, but I don't think it would be an issue to separate them if that's what's wanted. — ABCface 04:50, 12 September 2012 (GMT)

Thief giving enchanted item

A guy came up to me, gave me an enchanted bow, and said he'd pay me if I kept it for a bit and stayed quiet about our meeting, and if that I didn't, he'd kill me. A hunter then came, and rather than ralking to me, he simply attacks the man who had given me the bow. Should that be added? Because I got no confrontation from the original owner. Vampire Thralls...And M'aiq?!

I was heading towards Sarathal from Winterhold when I was suddenly attacked by a fledging vampire and a thrall.And right there behind them was M'aiq.M'aiq's location was probobaly just a coincedence,but I've never been attacked by vamps in the wilderness.And I do not have Dawnguard.Has anyone else had this happen?--Skyrimplayer 18:16, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

To answer your questions:
Your first experience is a normal random encounter (not added by Dawnguard) with a vampire and his thrall (0x000bf31c). This encounter happens if the quest Laid to Rest is not completed.
Your second encounter is also a normal random encounter with two vigilants fighting a vampire (0x000b329e). It is a possible encounter if you're level 5 and above, and only happens between 10pm and 5.30am. ~ Psylocke 18:29, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

It's not uncommon for two encounters to occur in the same place at all...the encounters are triggered by invisible areas in the game that when you step on them, a random encounter might happen. You just got lucky in the sense that you triggered an encounter twice in a row. Robin Hoodtalk 19:51, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

() There are to my experience areas where random encounters are more common than others. On such "hotspot" is where the road down from White River Watch joins the road east from Whiterun, on the east bank of the White River. When I start a game I use this spot to get combat experience, as it is conveniently close to Whiterun to run back to a guard patrolled road for help if my opponents are too strong. —MortenOSlash 05:03, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

New Dawnguard Interaction (With Proof)

I was at the nightgate inn, and had a bounty , and for some reason someone named saliah, a dawnguard, agent attacked me, when I killed and looted his body, I found a note saying some interesting stuff such as " we're losing too many cash drops " or some other stuff I cant remember at the moment, however I took a picture of the note, Its on my steam account named Roxies, my origional name is nocturnalAU But I changed it to a bunch of different names and my most recent name is roxies, anyway the picture is in my screenshots It listed the possible locations of a bunch of different cash drop locations as well, One was conveniently at the foot of the bridge near the lake at nightgate inn. — Unsigned comment by 24.63.171.231 (talk) at 09:13 on 18 September 2012 (UTC)

I just saw her on my game, as well. She didn't attack me (were you a vampire? I'm a Dawnguard member); she was just riding a horse toward Winterhold, and when I talked to her, she said something to the effect of "I'm on important business for the Dawnguard, so stand aside", and just kept repeating "Stand aside" after that. I've had two different encounters with Salia (or however you spell it) on two different save games with the same character (Dawn Guard Member). First time I found her lying dead in the Reach surrounded three dead vampires. She had a cache key on her and a note that said something to the effect of "Western Skyrim is seeing increased Vampire activity. Dawn Guard supply caches need to be restocked to help agents in the area." That game froze so I had to reload to just before getting that encounter. I rushed to the same place, but this time it was a hag fighting a flame atronach. Dozens of hours later I encountered her riding a horse, "On important business." Page becoming cluttered

In my opinion, this page is starting to become cluttered with excessive information in the tables. Adding extensive description and dialogue just doesn't fit well with the table format. I think we need to either keep the table information brief, or change the page format to make room for the additional information. Thoughts? --Xyzzy Talk 07:43, 6 October 2012 (GMT)

In regards saying that an event "is identical to another event," that is bad form, especially when they aren't linked to the other event. Really bad form is saying that the dialogue is the same as another event, and the actions are identical to another event from that one. As you can see each event is unique, as was designed, any similar events are at a minimum Imperial/Stormcloak/Thalmor, but they play out differently. Each event also needs a proper description, and in regards space, the details/options columns could perhaps be merged. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 12:19, 6 October 2012 (GMT)
I'm with The Silencer when it comes to referring to other events. When it comes to dialogue, the specific information should be on the related NPC page. In my opinion, the table information should be a brief summary with relevant links to creatures or NPCs involved, not a full description of the event. — ABCface 16:56, 6 October 2012 (GMT)
Oh sure, when I try saying that things are identical to another to point out that the interactions and behaviors of the encounters are the same, I get bitched at because its "bad form." (Whatever THAT'S supposed to mean.) when things become cluttered because I spend a fourth of a day editing info so there is, people complain. Saying things are identical is not bad form, it's telling you that the interactions are the same as a previous encounter on the list. God, it just pisses me off so much. Vampires in disguise

I was heading towards Karthwasten while doing the Heart of Dibella quest, when I encountered 3 vampires disguised as Vilgilants of Stendarr. Even the game registered them as such until I tried talking to them. At their feet was 3 dead naked bodies. Thalmor Encounters After Concluding Imperial Legion/Stormcloak Quest Line

Is it worth noting that after completing either the Imperial Legion quest line or the Stormcloak quest line the Thalmor encounters will no longer occur? I don't know where to look in the Creation Kit to determine if and why this is happening but they do seem to stop occurring if you complete either quest line. --DagmarH (talk) 21:50, 16 December 2012 (GMT)

OK. I finished on the Imperial side, too, and I guess they are still occurring for me, but not sure. I wonder if Stormcloaks "win" the right to worship Talos if they prevail in the war, and thus the Thalmor stop bothering them. Any Stormcloaks notice this? --JR (talk) 03:16, 17 December 2012 (GMT)
There's nothing in the game data that stops this event. It may just be that it has registered an exceedingly rare percentage chance of happening, because I haven't experienced all of the events listed myself. In fact I only just experienced an event that had never happened before, twice in succession. The amount of events and the chance of them happening, suggests it is just a coincidence of your games data that they do not appear after the questline, for whatever underlying reason. The combination of relative rareness and randomness can fool one into believing there is a pattern where there is not. It is like me, having played well over 1000 hours, but still have not experienced a dragon attack inside neither Whiterun, Riften nor Markarth. Traveller

Came inot whiterun and noticed a hooded figure in the middle of the road, he was just called traveller, when I interacted with him he turned around and I saw Orange/ red eyes so I knew he was a vampire, he then said something about killing the dawnguard before attacking me by shooting lighning at my face, draining my health and summoning a gargoyle. I can confirm the existence of the event. It is named "Disguised Vampire Lord - Change Location", though it isn't documented. Traveler is though. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:05, 18 March 2013 (GMT)

Boethiah's Calling

There is another NPC that can gives you a quest and is a Boethiah's cultist. It's hostile. Kill them and take the book "Boethiah's Proving" from their corpse. Reading the book will start the quest. --Mannygt (talk) 12:39, 8 May 2013 (GMT)

Accidently Dropped This result

About a week ago, I received an inheritence letter from a courier in Riverwood (I had killed Lucan Valerius). It occurred as normal. After I received the letter, I was about to leave Riverwood so I dropped a stolen helmet I didn't want. The courier (who was standing in front of the Sleeping Giant Inn) came up to me and gave it back, but he then ran through the dialogue again and gave me another inheritance letter (I do not know if I received gold a second time). --~The wind, forsaken~ (talk) 18:21, 20 May 2013 (GMT)

Vampire trick WI conditions

The entry for the WI encounter called "Vampire trick" has unclear requirements, saying "may be opposite conditions". I just experienced this encounter in the Rift, and have completed Laid to Rest. Could the conditions listed on its CSList entry mean that it can only occur in Hjaalmarch if Laid to Rest has been completed, since that quest takes place in Hjaalmarch and could possibly interfere with the WI if it wasn't excluded? --Xyzzy Talk 00:13, 29 July 2013 (GMT)

Cultist Attack

So, do the cultists stop appearing after completing the Dragonborn mainquest? If they do, it might be worth noting because that could make their apparel unobtainable after completing the questline. --178.1.50.27 15:43, 29 July 2013 (GMT)

Yes, they will stop appearing after completing stage 550 of "At the Summit of Apocrypha", which means that the quest been completed. I will make sure it's clear in the article that they will stop appearing then. --Xyzzy Talk 20:52, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
