Guard's race[edit]

Just to bring up this issue to see if anyone could perhaps resolve it in someway?

There are four data entries for the Winterhold Guards (NPC_). The first one here states that the guard's race is a Fox and class is in fact, Dremora. When it comes to the other three data entries: here, here and here, the races state that they are a default race. Does the default race necessarily mean that the NPC is a Nord, and also when searching up other files for guards belonging to other Holds, they too state that they have a Fox race and a Dremora class. Also, to prove my theory about this not being the only occurence where this has appeared, doing a search for Solitude Guards (NPC_) has come up with all three data entries having the race set to Fox and the class set to Dremora. Helenaannevalentine 04:52, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Im not 100% sure myself, I was just making basic pages because they didnt have anything before, if someone else knows better they can change it, but fox and dremora didnt seem right! — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 04:58, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm not too sure on it myself, I even looked into the specifics more, (the CS date found on Fox (0x00109c7c) and the Dremora (0x00017008)), but I couldn't find any reasonable explanation for it. Helenaannevalentine 05:01, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain there are scripts at play here, but you can't read scripts from the CSList. The game sometimes uses leveled lists, but it doesn't appear to in this case. Someone with more knowledge on the subject could answer your question better. As for the original questions, I'm pretty sure that the default race is Nord, and I do know that in situations where all of the data is overridden they often use the Fox race and Dremora class as filler. • JATalk 05:08, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Jak Atackka for clearing the confusion up for me. Perhaps if I get any time, I'll take a look into the scripting further, to see if that provides an explanation like you suggested. Helenaannevalentine 05:34, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Winterhold Guard Shields[edit]

I'm trying to collect the full armor of each hold, but it appears that not a single Winterhold guard in my game has a Winterhold shield - they carry steel shields or none at all. I thought it was just the current guards, but I've waited until they reset a couple times, and I know that earlier in my game when a dragon killed them they didn't have any then either. Is this just a glitch on my game, or is it like that for everyone? Alarra (talk) 05:58, 15 November 2012 (GMT)

Yeah they are supposed to carry them but it seems most of the Winterhold Guards don't. I've found them more often on guards outside of winterhold itself. Try the guard down by the mine southeast of the town. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 06:41, 15 November 2012 (GMT)
Ah, thanks! I didn't realize that there were any outside the town itself. He was carrying one in addition to a steel shield. Alarra (talk) 23:23, 16 November 2012 (GMT)

Female guard missing[edit]

Skyrim:Riften Guard lists two infoboxes, one male and one female, each with its own BaseID and voicetype. Looks like most of the guard pages only have one infobox, including this one. So this page isn't categorized under the FemaleNord voicetype even though it should be. C Teng (talk) 21:25, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Relatedly, if a hold has two voices for its male guards (MaleGuard and MaleNordCommander), that probably means it has two different BaseIDs, right? (I don't know how this works.) But then we'd have three infoboxes, which seems like a little much. Perhaps better to just combine them somehow. C Teng (talk)
