Suddenly Hostile[edit]

After doing a few quests inside the Markarth hold for the court wizard and the Hall of the Dead, this NPC attacks me every time I get near him. I'm not sure what I did. Can anyone shed any light on the matter? It might be connected to a quest or something and worth mentioning. Aresvallis 05:53, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

As an update, I finally encountered him again. He wasn't hostile, but offered me the quest, so I immediately accepted it to finish him off. I think that the hostility may have been triggered by The Forsworn Conspiracy because he didn't start being hostile until after I accepted that one, and after I finished it, he appeared again and started behaving normally. Some people have reported a fix, that when you break the law in his presence, and get fined/taken to prison (fined preferably) he quits being Hostile, and can be approached normally from that point onwards. A good tip is to either pickpocket a guard, or just blatantly take a piece of meat from one of the stalls, the fine is minimal, and the bug gets fixed. Michal 22:16, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
The quest he starts leads to a Deadric Prince locking the two of you in a house together, and telling you that one must kill the other in order to escape. He then decides he can't die there and becomes hostile. This may be why he is glitching like that. 19:54, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
He also can turn hostile (before starting the quest) if you have a bounty in the Reach. I've only experienced this on one occasion though. --Blackpete (talk) 04:59, 29 October 2013 (GMT)

For sure[edit]

That guy is going on bloody rampage every time he sees me.I've just arrived in Markarath and didnt do any quests in here, also I've never been hostile towards any vigilant. Maybe that encounter with forsworn near the city gate somehow triggered his aggro, i don't know. The problem is this lunatic is in godmode and he doesnt want to piss off.Does Anyone know what is the case and how to get rid of that hostility? — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 12:59 on 17 November 2011

Considering this is the same topic, you should have indented to the above. I guess it's a bug. I've gone back to Markarth a few times since Tyranus went hostile, but he seems to have disappeared completely. At least he isn't running around killing my dogs anymore. I really wish the Creation Kit would come out soon, it seems like there's twice as many obvious/game breaking bugs and glitches than Oblivion had. Aresvallis 04:06, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Levelled mace?[edit]

Are you sure his mace is leveled? even on level 81 his mace is iron on all my saves on ps3 — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 17:00 on 1 May 2012

We have not really investigated it yet, but I just checked a save where I didn't spawn him before level 6 and he had an Orchish Mace. It could be that you triggered him at level 1 (entering Markarth, witness the kill, exiting and entering again) - and then he just keeps the same low level mace regardless of your level. It needs further testing, but we had some similar occurrences in OB, so that would be my guess. --Krusty 18:06, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
As the page currently says, it's a leveled, unenchanted mace. Vely►t►e 22:48, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Got to Markath at level 13 via the "Night to Remember" quest, he was equipped with a regular iron mace.-- 06:08, 25 October 2012 (GMT)
It appears to be leveled but NOT fixed. So it can be anything up to maximum quality for your level upon meeting him. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 06:12, 25 October 2012 (GMT)

Gone with the wind...[edit]

Can any one please help... This dude is just gone... He does not appear near the stables or at the abandoned house. Also in the Silver blood in there is no rumors @ the bartenders... I have not done this quest and need it for the "oblivian walker" achievement on the Xbox... Any advice accept restarting the game? — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 11:20 on 18 May 2013‎

I've heard several reports that he can sometimes be killed by vampire attacks in the city (added by Dawnguard), but can't confirm this myself. He should be essential until after the daedric quest is initiated though, assuming the note on this page is correct. --Blackpete (talk) 04:57, 29 October 2013 (GMT)

Essential status[edit]

There's a comment near the end of the article about him losing his essential status and attacking you. Should that be changed to remove the line about essential status? As the info box says, he actually loses his essential status when the quest is started, and in fact can be slain without a bounty to continue the quest the moment you step into the home. 05:22, 27 January 2014 (GMT)
