Quest Marker[edit]

"There is a 50% chance that the marker in Haelga's Bunkhouse or The Bannered Mare is an invalid quest destination, namely a static XMarker (RefID 0009d5d8) instead of the interactive Business Ledger. Therefore it is impossible to forge the ledger and advance the quest." I could still activate the Ledger even with the wrong quest marker. It was only a visual bug. Ice 11:31, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Perhaps you could, but I and many others apparently could not activate the ledger. I just discovered this bug in Haelga's, and I couldn't activate the ledger while the quest marker pointed to a crate upstairs.--75.205.249.161 20:28, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

What constitutes as murder?[edit]

I received this quest from Delvin and proceeded to specifically The White Phial. I hadn't complete the white phial repair quest, so I did that first and then did the numbers thing. Delvin, however, claims I killed someone. How to fix? 173.69.57.154 05:39, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

That's because Nurelion dies at the end of "Repairing the Phial", and the Thieves Guild quest does not keep track of whether you kill someone or not, only if someone died or not at the location given. Pretty common bug, actually. VycDarkshadow (talk) 23:52, 14 April 2013 (GMT)

Number of businesses[edit]

Actually, there are 35 total businesses, not 28 ElderMaxson782 (talk) 17:42, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

There are 28 listed on the page, this tallies with the 31 ledgers in the game as 3 are bugged duplicates. There are none added by Dragonborn either, so where you got 35 from I have no idea, so please explain before changing anything. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:12, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Not Equal Chances[edit]

I usually play as a female, so I usually prefer to unlock a male fence rather than another female fence. Besides, until you unlock the male fence in Markarth, there is no male merchant anywhere in the city with a good amount of gold. The castle blacksmith in Markarth has less than the usual gold for a blacksmith merchant.

Anyway, it might be my imagination that Markarth is less likely to be the city selected than any of the other possibilities because it's the one on which I am impatiently awaiting, but it is NOT my imagination that when I do get Markarth, the four possible businesses for a numbers job do NOT have an equal chance of being selected. It may be silly to care, but although I don't really mind helping to rip off the bickering couple running an inn for the corrupt Silver-Blood family, and I certainly don't mind helping to rip off the cannibal who is feeding human flesh to his dogs to make them more fierce or the cannibal who murdered and ate her own husband, I'd rather not help rip off Bothela, who may be a bit crotchety but has don't nothing wrong that I know of. So of course that's the business I keep getting whenever I manage to get Markarth. I estimate that The Hag's Cure is the selected business about three times out of four. I suspect that the code which is supposed to give The Hag's Cure a 25% chance of being selected got the numbers reversed and is giving the 25% selection chance to be shared out among the other three businesses.
