Adding a hidden location and a warning note[edit]

Just wondering if it should be added to the main page walk through: If you go to the waterfall in the room just prior to finding the windy passage that goes to where you have to drop off, there is a locked door BEHIND the waterfall that goes into a room with also has a source of Stalrihm. I know it's included on the Stalrihm page, but maybe here also.

I'd also consider adding a warning note that when you enter the chamber with the open floor that you see water underneath is one where you're going to get jumped by a LOT of Draugur all at once. That ended up almost taking me out, getting hit by six Draugur Deathlords all at once.Agmen (talk) 06:55, 20 December 2012 (GMT)

The first note isn't relative to the quest, but could be added to both place pages. The second note may be worth noting on this quest page. — ABCface 07:03, 20 December 2012 (GMT)

Unexplained weight increase[edit]

Upon quest completion, I keep seeing a sudden weight increase of about 16. I have scanned my inventory multiple times and nothing is being added. Does the Bloodskal Blade not affect current weight while the quest is in progress? — Unsigned comment by 71.22.126.24 (talk) at 11:38 on 4 February 2013

The Bloodskal Blade, like (basically) ALL quest items(See here for quest items- Skyrim:Quest_Items ), doesn't affect your weight while that quest is active. Once you complete the quest, then a quest item regains weight, to signify that now you can get rid of the darned thing. Agmen (talk) 18:57, 7 February 2013 (GMT)

Bloodskal Blade bug?[edit]

Is my blade bugged? A vertical slash releases the energy bolt, but a horizontal slash is just a whoosh sound with no energy arc. I play on a PC with only keyboard input. I am stuck in this dungeon with no way to solve the puzzle. Is there a console command that will get me through this door? — Unsigned comment by 71.189.46.32 (talk) at 22:26 on 11 February 2013

In my case the blade works correctly, but I can't make the portal respond. It doesn't matter what moves I make, if I make double direction vertical blows (just hit attack button a second time quickly after the first vertical blow and your character will make the second blow from left to right after the first blow from left to right; to my knowledge you can't make the sequence opposite from this), or just the single right to left blow, or if I make a horizontal blow. None of it works, and I have tried MANY times now. - I may have to use the console in order to get out of the room. 2.107.74.180 15:46, 15 May 2013 (GMT)AmaDraque.
For me the Bloodskal Blade does nothing. I do notice it does not have a bar indicating a charge nor is there anyway to recharge the weapon. Whoman69 (talk) 16:08, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

The solution was found...https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6134938-the-final-descentbloodskal-blade-issue-repost/
Using console commands to equip the spells from the blade on yourself and then using it to open the door.
There are two spells (vertical/horizontal) and you can equip them with the player.equipspell console command.
for the horizontal spell type:
player.equipspell 0401AEAE left
for the vertical spell type:
player.equipspell 04033A27 left — Unsigned comment by 115.84.90.42 (talk) at 15:50 on 10 October 2020 (UTC)
if you hold a lateral direction while doing a power attack, you will do the horizontal slash with no previous slash before hand. I think that is what the game expect2.7.91.160 22:11, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

Blades traps + followers?[edit]

I brought Teldryn down into the mine with me, and everything was going swimmingly right up until that hall of blades trap right before Zahkriisos. Due to the fact the blades are scripted to be activated by proximity, it seems to be impossible to get followers through the hall even after the switch has been flicked. Is it worth making a note of this? — Unsigned comment by Tentacle (talkcontribs) at 11:44 on 19 February 2013

I've had followers follow after the switch has been flicked. The problem as far as I can tell usually is that the followers run into the blades and go into kneeling mode; after you flick the switch you need to wait for them to stop kneeling and then they'll catch up with you. Eventually. --Morrolan (talk) 21:34, 20 February 2013 (GMT)
so I let my follower to wait while I push the lever to stop it, but it seems the traps are not controlled by lever, more like by an invisible activator (I'll check the CK later) it's when you very close to the gate, they're stopped, and when you get close to one of them, they swing back again.Mudcrabrider (talk) 12:32, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
Confirmed, the traps trigger boxes are set to 1, which is 1 = Hold - on entry turn on, on exit turn off, and the area inside the tunnel that's not covered in trigger boxes is a small space with lever and the gate, so get very near to the gate will turn it off.Mudcrabrider (talk) 13:03, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

Not all Draugr appear to be leveled.[edit]

At one point, there's a lightning trap of the usual sort; grab the soul gems charging it and it stops (two soul gems in this case). After it there's an iron door. In the room behind the door there always seem to be Deathlords. I'm playing on Master but it doesn't seem to matter what level I am, they are always the same Deathlords, what I refer to as level 2 Deathlords (they have ebony equipment, but they don't have the disarm shout and they don't have as much health as the Grand Soul Deathlords). Currently I'm on level 17 and they're just regular Deathlords, and I've come in here with level 60+ characters and gotten exactly the same Deathlords (not the hyper-powerful ones that you often see at those high levels). --Morrolan (talk) 21:39, 20 February 2013 (GMT)

I have run through this quest at level 10, and can confirm the two Deathlords in the region by the locked door in the water area seem to be of a completely static level to the rest of the draugr there. Later, running through at 17, they do not seem to have scaled up in difficulty. — Unsigned comment by 98.190.149.210 (talk) at 22:04 on 9 June 2013
Confirmed. I did this quest at level 1, and they were still Deathlords. --Minotaur (talk) 01:55, 2 November 2013 (GMT)

Bug - Crescius will not respond[edit]

I cannot get Crescius to speak to me about the pickaxe nor his other quest, I cannot pick his pocket for the pickaxe or loot his body I'm not sure whether this is to do with finding the pieces of deathbrand armour before speaking with either Crescius or Glover I think I have ruined the mission. PS3 version. — Unsigned comment by 95.147.73.216 (talk) at 01:13 on 23 February 2013

Deathbrand armor has nothing to do with The Final Descent, it is related to the quest named Deathbrand. So finding that shouldn't be an issue.
If you speak to Glover Mallory, you can get the An Axe to Find quest from him (the one with the ancient Nordic pickaxe), then go to Crescius for it afterward.
As for starting this quest specifically, is he arguing with his wife when you encounter him? The quest dialogue generally becomes available after that scene. — ABCface 05:09, 25 February 2013 (GMT)

Brand-Shei's strongbox key[edit]

You seem to get Brand-Shei's strongbox key from lockpicking the East Empire Company Strongbox right beside the locked door. Needs the wax key skill ofc.— Unsigned comment by 87.152.249.208 (talk) at 13:37 on 9 March 2013

It is technically a different key, added in dragonborn. Does it open his strongbox in riften? Jeancey (talk) 20:40, 9 March 2013 (GMT)

Second Bloodskal blade?[edit]

On a recent run through this area, I had engaged the dragon priest boss in melee combat and was generally chasing him around the large room he is found in hacking away at him with Dawnbreaker. I had the original Bloodskal blade you find near the puzzle door, but had not used it in combat. Upon defeating the dragon priest (whose name is hard to remember how to spell at the moment) Dawnbreaker's explosion turn power triggered, and I heard a ringing of metal off to the side, which turned out to be a second Bloodskal blade. The corner in which I had pushed the priest was, as you face the Word Wall from the entrance, the left far corner around one of the 'pillars' right before you get to the Word Wall itself. Any chance someone else could poke around there and see if there is actually a second blade in that area? — Unsigned comment by 98.190.149.210 (talk) at 21:14 on 9 June 2013

I searched thoroughly around and behind all of the pillars on both sides of the word wall chamber and didn't find a second Bloodskal Blade. --Xyzzy Talk 13:48, 3 November 2013 (GMT)

Script lag makes opening the door impossible[edit]

I tried to open the door the usual way, but this time with some mods installed (none changes weapons, combat, or anything related to this quest) and due to this, ended up with a it of script lag. In case of the Bloodskal Blade, the red ribbon strikes only about 1 second after the strike. Even with the most precise aiming - I played this with a vanilla game before and know how it works - it's impossible to open the gate. Would be nice to learn and document for other players if this is a common problem, if actually script lag is the problem (it can happen to vanilla games too after all), or if it worked for others. — Unsigned comment by 78.43.155.64 (talk) at 21:02 on 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Dragonborn: The Final Descent. Word wall glitch[edit]

Playing at level 81, master difficulty I find that the word wall (after defeating Zahkriisos) will not release the dragon shout word. Playing on Xbox one, Skyrim special edition. Anyone else encounter this? Roslucas (talk) 01:18, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

The bug is already documented under the bug section of the Raven Rock Mine page. —MortenOSlash (talk) 17:26, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Fix for Bloodskal Blade not emitting energy[edit]

Occasionally while using power attacks, a message may come up saying the weapon was lacking charge. Fixed with the console command player.setav rightitemcharge 9999. --Hatter0 (talk) 15:03, 27 October 2019 (GMT)

Zahkriisos really doesn't like to fight.[edit]

I saw the bug at the bottom of the page, but even before coming here I've had that happen twice. Across six different characters and two unmodded consoles, he never fought me. Only on PC (and only once!) did he even move. From what I can tell, it may be what the player does once he comes out of the water because he doesn't seem to move if I don't and just wail on him with the Bloodskal Blade. I'd edit the page directly but I don't actually know how to do that. — Unsigned comment by 24.22.253.92 (talk) at 00:24 on 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Console/PC Confusion[edit]

The section 'Solving the Puzzle' contains the instruction 'hold in the trigger to do a horizontal power attack'. Wouldn't it be useful to include instructions for mouse/keyboard users too?--Draugluin (talk) 12:29, 29 June 2023 (UTC)

Energy attack is ony set off in 1st person[edit]

Had the bug where the sword wouldn't fire energy attacks. Switching to first person enabled them.
