Fine-Cut Void Salts name information[edit]

"The Fine-Cut Void Salts that you are asked to find are actually just regular Void Salts, except it is a unique sample of the salts that has been given a different name."

What does this comment have to do with a "Detailed Walkthrough"? A "Detailed Walkthrough" is where you describe how to find the item, not a meaningless comment about what it is which may or may not be true. — Unsigned comment by 24.57.184.32 (talk) at 13:35 on 25 November 2011

Repeatable quest?[edit]

I completed this quest some time ago, and then just found another lot of refined salts in a different cave which added a quest journal entry for Wayfinder. Is this quest meant to be repeatable? I reverted to a saved game and left the salts as I thought it might be a bug and I'd be stuck with a dead-end quest in my journal and quest item. — Unsigned comment by 62.234.176.6 (talk) at 17:41 on 25 December 2011‎

I believe this is repeatable quest but I don´t know how many times. Do Fine-Cut Void Salts respawn like any other ordinary item (thus making this quest reapeatable indefinitely) or are they fixed on one sample per cave/tomb? --Luke the Hero 16:15, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
Years later, but I have found that the salts can respawn after the location respawns. I even have talked to the guy again and he sent me back to the same location he directed me to the first time. Was able to complete the quest a second time as well with no apparent issues. --Dragos Drakkar (talk) 23:21, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Level 19, and he gave me 750?[edit]

I think the leveled gold thing is wrong. Maybe it's a bug, I don't really know. The only thing I did was get the salts before starting the quest. EDIT: I still have it in my inventory. --76.16.128.39 21:49, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Possibly Erroneous info?[edit]

"If you find any of the samples before starting the quest, the fine-cut version can be consumed like normal void salts. " I just acquired them in forsaken cave and the quest info pops up "return to Wayfinder" or something like that, but I had NOT previously accepted this quest. — Unsigned comment by 24.200.26.45 (talk) at 07:04 on 10 September 2013

Quest Item Renamed (Possible Bug and Possible Fix)[edit]

While crafting some potions I noticed that my Fine Cut Void Salts (FCVS), were transformed into regular Void Salts after depositing a stack (13) of normal Void Salts into a large sack. I was able to repeat this transformation twice, under similar conditions (XBox360, Heljarchen Hall, large upright sack to the left of the alchemy table in the tower wing, same ingredients). This may a be bug, and may also be a fix to remove unwanted FCVS after completing this quest. Can anyone provide confirmation? BlackSun (talk) 05:21, 17 September 2013 (GMT)

UPDATE - Traveled back to Captain Wayfinder; he will not accept the newly transformed Void Salts to complete the quest, though the quest marker still indicates I should speak with him. This would seem to suggest that the tag making these salts a quest item has somehow been removed. BlackSun (talk) 16:34, 17 September 2013 (GMT)
UPDATE - Some time later (not sure how long) I returned to my home to craft some more potions. Opening the sack where I store ingredients, I found that the Void Salts I had earlier thought lost had been renamed once again to Fine Cut Void Salts. There was only one instance of the quest item, though I had more than 10 Void Salts in the sack. I was able to use this new quest item to finish the quest and receive my reward. Bug fix via console[edit]

Having run across the bug where I found the fine-cut void salts before I got the quest and then selected the wrong conversation option, I tried using the console command setstage freeformshipsDawnstar 20 to end the quest. This worked perfectly -- it not only ended the quest but removed the fine-cut void salts from my inventory. If others can confirm this, it could go on the page. If you have a console fix, it's okay to make the change yourself. You don't need approval before making every edit, just the ones that make major changes to the article or are controversial. For something like a console fix, which should work for everyone if done correctly, you're okay to just put the fix in the article. Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 18:31, 24 June 2014 (GMT)
Thanks, will do. I've gotten summarily deleted a couple times, so I'm a bit wary anymore. Wordmama (talk) 21:19, 26 June 2014 (GMT)
