End of map[edit]

Behind Refugees' Rest is an invisible wall where the map ends. This can be a surprise when retreating in that direction. --◄mendel► (talk) 09:01, 15 February 2014 (GMT)

Military tower on border - Of course it's the first line of defense![edit]

A military Tower on the border is going to be there to defend the country. It had to be there before it was used as a meeting place, otherwise they would have built something better suited for a meeting place and if it hadn't have been there then they wouldn't have stopped there. So yes I think you can state that it was previously used as a defensive tower and being on the border means it would have been the first line of defense. Biffa (talk) 08:38, 3 June 2014 (GMT)

The problem is that there is no proof of this, and therefore speculation. Sure, we can draw our own conclusions, but unless there is in-game evidence, it doesn't belong in the article. •WoahBro►talk 14:53, 3 June 2014 (GMT)
Exactly. --AN|L (talk) 15:18, 3 June 2014 (GMT)
I understand what you are saying, however disagree with your conclusion. The type of building does provide evidence as to what the original purpose of that building would have been. If it's original purpose was to be a meeting point, then they would have built a meeting house. A military tower has only one clear use and that is defense. There is no other purpose than defense that it could have been built for! To build such a tower on or just back from the border again alludes to the purpose it was originally intended. So IMO that is enough evidence to support the conclusions I reached and the detail I added. I do understand we don't want to add speculation, but disagree that is what this is. You're bringing real-world assumptions into a fantasy world. Some things may be the same in both, but not everything. Plus, as we've learned with ESO, borders are not always concrete. Finally, it's still speculation. Who's to say it wasn't just a checkpoint on the road? or a lookout tower? or for the defense of Windhelm? We don't know for sure. •WoahBro►talk 19:35, 5 June 2014 (GMT)
I accept your premise that it could have been a checkpoint or lookout tower, but they are still examples of towers built to provide (a first line of) defense. Regardless of whether reality transfers to the fantasy world or not, a lookout tower isn't going to be built to look at the stars, it's there to watch for attacking forces/ protect the land and the same is true for checkpoints. There are large arches at the borders of Skyrim that define the borders, yes borders are fluid over a period of time in the real world, but are clearly defined in Skyrim and previous Elder Scroll games. I'm not trying to change opinion or policy, just trying to get you to see that the evidence is there within the game, without the need to speculate. Biffa (talk) 10:19, 6 June 2014 (GMT)
