Runescape Reference[edit]

The MMORPG Runescape also has a quest called "Recipe for Disaster". --Signature 00:46, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

It's a common phrase. No reason to assume this is what it's referring to, if anything at all. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:09, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Well alright , it just came to my mind I guess.--208.90.245.71 04:50, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Anton has to die?[edit]

What the title says. I find it sad that I can't just let him go after getting the information. - ZuTheSkunk 11:09, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Killing Anton is one of the objectives, you can't even interact properly with the Gourmet before killing Anton. — Unsigned comment by Owoddenmask (talkcontribs) at 00:24 on 12 May 2022 (UTC)

how to kill anton...[edit]

another way to kill him is to wait till he done his activity (cooking) and reverse-pickpocket a frenzy poison onto him. this way, if done right, you didn't even have to kill him with your hand, his two assistants will do it for you. --120.165.35.246 15:28, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Or if you have the ability you can backstab him right in front of the assistants and they just react Did that just happen!?" then walk away without any risk of consequence. — Unsigned comment by 108.195.139.73 (talk) at 23:43 on 19 May 2012

missing invitation on body[edit]

I killed the gourmet but his invitation was not on his body. Adding it manually with the console did not work. If I advance the quest using setstage all that happens is Festus has the right dialogue but he just repeats it and the quest does not update/complete. I even tried advancing into the next quest using setstage again but it would not ever update nor add itself to my journal, and the quest was completely broken once I went into the tower in Solitude.

I'm writing this in case anyone else had the same problem. Reloading did not work. I have not tried it with a different character yet since it's so far into the questline. --68.34.238.133 07:46, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Nightweaver's Band[edit]

I haven't done this quest yet. I'm assuming that Nightweaver's Band is the reward for hiding Balagog's corpse (as it's the only optional). It doesn't state this in the write-up, and, if true, would be nice to have mentioned.75.92.217.27 19:37, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

It is the bonus reward and is noted as a possible reward at the top of the page. The Silencer has spokenTalk 03:36, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Unlimited Speech[edit]

"When talking to Anton Virane, you can exit speech before telling him whether you kill him and redo the intimidation check to get unlimited speech exp. (confirmed on ps3)"

I can confirm this works for xbox 360 aswell — Unsigned comment by 86.182.201.188 (talk) at 21:23 on 6 April 2012

I've updated the Bugs section so it's not only listed as a PS3 bug. ABCface 05:47, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Disintegrate[edit]

Has anyone tried disintegrating Balagog with a powerful lightning spell? I'm curious as to whether that would count as "hiding" the body, or if he's just immune to disintegration somehow - because you can't drag an ash pile. To be safe, you'd probably have to use Lightning Storm, as the lesser lightning spells aren't guaranteed to disintegrate even with the perk, especially on less powerful opponents. But it's worth a shot... TheRealLurlock (talk) 22:17, 16 February 2013 (GMT)

Playing on PC Special Edition - (1)Killed the Gourmet outside, there were people that caught me, I killed everyone, go a bounty to The Pale, when I went back to Festus he was mad because I didn't hide the body; (2)Killed the Gourmet outside, there were no people around, thus no bounty, went back to Festus and he was mad because I didn't hide the body; (3)Killed the Gourmet and the door inside the cellar, Fultheim came in and I killed him, no bounty in the Pale, went back to Festus and he was mad I didn't hide the body; (4)Killed the Gourmet and the door inside the cellar, no people around, no bounty, went back to Festus and he was mad I didn't hide the body; (5)Killed the Gourmet behind the barrels he hides if you talk to him, no people around, no bounty, went back to Festus and he was mad I didn't hide the body. Seems like Using the spell alone isn't enough to "hide" the body. — Unsigned comment by Owoddenmask (talkcontribs) at 00:47 on 12 May 2022 (UTC)

Festus Krex mispronounces "Redguard"?[edit]

When asking Festus Krex about the book Uncommon Taste, Festus says: "'Uncommon Taste.' It was published a few years ago, and became a sensation throughout the Empire almost overnight. The recipes were hailed as both practical and decadent. I've made a few of the Gourmet's dishes myself, actually. His roast mutton with Redguard berry sauce is to die for. But his chocolate pate gives me the runs." To me, it sounded like he pronounces "Redguard" as "regard". — Unsigned comment by Owoddenmask (talkcontribs) at 00:09 on 12 May 2022 (UTC)
