Special use?[edit]

Does this particular weed have any special uses, like, is it part of any quest like in Oblivion? — Unsigned comment by 46.163.204.248 (talk) at 08:55 on 30 November 2011

No. There is a different sidequest for Crimson Nirnroot. You can, however, turn them in to Avrusa Sarethi for 10g each. Rookwood 18:57, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes, it is part of a collection quest for Ingun Black-Briar, you'll need 20 to complete the quest. — Unsigned comment by 75.111.83.52 (talk) at 02:16 on 4 December 2011

Regrowth dispute[edit]

I don't know where in-game it states that they do not regrow. Can anyone cite that?

Also, the one just across the bridge outside of Markarth regrew for me. Don't know how much in-game time had passed. If other people could confirm this that would be nice. I'm thinking it could however be from the patch(1.2) that just hit.Rookwood 18:52, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

when you do the Few and Far Between quest for Ingun Black-Briar she tells you nirnroot does not grow back Defaultdotxbe 20:15, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
I have re-picked several Nirnroot during the game, in game time is maybe a month. I to have not seen or read any in game text that says they don't grow back.

As Defaultdotxbe has stated, I can confirm that Ingun Black-Briar tells you that Nirnroot does not grow back when you start the Few and Far Between quest. If Nirnroot is respawning in the game, then either her dialogue is wrong (assuming the developers intended for it to respawn), or Nirnroot is glitched (assuming the developers did not intend for it to respawn). Wow people, it's not that difficult. Ingun's dialogue is lore fluff. But because practicality and game mechanic are more important than lore (yes, they are), nirnroot DOES grow back, and there's no reason to asssume it's a glitch or an oversight. Lore is nice but it has to take a backseat sometimes. — Unsigned comment by 69.141.182.220 (talk) at 17:18 on 20 August 2012

Regrowth and light[edit]

I don't have access to my game ATM, but I've noticed something, when I pick a nirnroot the light may or may not stay, if the light stays, it ends up growing back, but a few times I picked and the light did not stay, and when I went back to collect again, after seeing the other grow back, there was no nirnroot to collect, is this a glitch on my end, or have others noticed this too? Halla man2 02:23, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

From what I have observed, if the roots remain the plant will grow back.130.184.55.63 20:52, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
Nirnroot grows back, period. Just disregard Ingun Blackbriar. — Unsigned comment by 69.141.182.220 (talk) at 17:19 on 20 August 2012

Unharvestable Nirnroot[edit]

Within a log to the South East of Wreck of The Pride of Tel Vos, there is a Nirnroot that I cannot seem to harvest. Anyone else have this small glitch & is it worth a mention in the article? --Arpaleggia 23:53, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Found it. Tried picking it for about ten minutes. That sucker ain't moving. Minor Edits 06:17, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
I tried sneak mode just to see if I could crouch in to snatch it, no luck. DeBenno (talk) 12:56, 6 October 2012 (GMT)

"Immune" to Green Thumb....[edit]

It's mentioned on the Alchemy page, but should it be noted on this page that Nirnroot harvesting doesn't yield two samples with the Green Thumb perk? 130.184.55.63 20:54, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes it should. I'll add it. Wolok gro-Barok 18:21, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Value[edit]

There's already a note on the page saying that the gold cost is 12.6 times larger than regular poisons. It seems perfectly logical, then, to link to the Making Money page. The link could be placed on "12.6 times larger" rather than adding to the sentence if that's what's wanted. Vely►t►e 12:52, 2 October 2012 (GMT)

I agree, Vely. Anybody who's interested in that note would probably also be interested in the Making Money page, and that's plenty reason to link there. eshetalk 14:35, 2 October 2012 (GMT)
I'd agree that the link would be well placed on that part of the current sentence if adding to the sentence is unwanted. — ABCface 17:11, 2 October 2012 (GMT)

Increased Magnitude? How does that work?[edit]

The pages for some ingredients that have reduced magnitude (eg. Beehive) indicate that it only matters if you combine two ingredients with reduced magnitude. How does extra magnitude work? And should that be indicated on this page (and the ones for Crimson Nirnroot, River Betty and Giant's Toe) like reduced magnitude is? Thanks. --Irrevenant (talk) 00:01, 16 December 2012 (GMT)
