Her Key[edit]

Does anyone know what the darkwater pit key she carries is for? --77.250.0.40 15:01, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

I think its for her safe, in the house. The Silencer has spoken 15:21, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, it goes to the safe in her secret basement. The other key named "Darkwater Pit Key" in Derkeethus' cell in Darkwater Pass isn't the same key and doesn't open her safe; it has a different ID and separate entry on the key list. Since the safe has letters from Linwe in it, it looks like Bethesda originally meant for her to refuse to talk about the Summerset Shadows until you confronted her with the evidence but they dropped that idea and just never renamed her key properly. Nevertheless it's funny that it would refer to Darkwater, since Darkwater Crossing is where Ulfric and his crew got jumped prior to the start of the game according to Ralof; he also says that the Legion must have been tipped off to their route because the ambush was textbook perfect. It's an interesting reference to see on somebody in Windhelm, even though it probably doesn't mean anything. 206.76.160.254 15:48, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Keen assessment?[edit]

"On a personal basis she has a keen assessment of the discrimination shown to the Dunmer in Windhelm. "

This is an opinion. I suggest making the information more neutral. 65.43.224.91 23:42, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Which part do you see as opinion? The Silencer has spokenTalk 23:48, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
The adjective "keen" imparts a value judgment on her assessment of the Dunmer's situation. Niranye is an Altmer not a Dunmer, therefore Windhelm's practice of confining the Dunmer to live in the Gray Quarter doesn't even apply to her. In addition she's basically saying she had to work harder and smarter than the average Nord citizen of Windhelm to get the basic respect and dignity automatically afforded to them by one another. There's nothing particularly keen about that observation. I suggest replacing the word "keen" with the word "different" because that's all it is.--DagmarH 06:03, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

And, poof! She's gone...[edit]

Quite literally. Disappeared from Windhelm. I've completed the Thieves' Guild quest line, all the way to the end of the guild improvement and properly becoming master, but no matter how many times I fast travel in, wait, search around the city and her house, she just isn't there. Is her essential tag permanent? Could she have died? I hope not... :/ Playing on Xbox, so console codes are not possible (grrr). Any ideas? AyaHawkeye (talk) 01:35, 23 September 2012 (GMT)

Not sure if it helps, but the New Gnisis Cornerclub is another location she may be found according to game data. --Alfwyn (talk) 10:38, 23 September 2012 (GMT)
Ah, cool. I'll have a look there. Maybe she got study there :/ EDIT: Nope, she's still nowhere to be found... The Stone Quarter is having a hissy-fit too, with things from the market stalls hovering all over the place. Not too sure what's gong on with that, but it happens with every character. AyaHawkeye (talk) 18:49, 23 September 2012 (GMT)
Yeah the whole floating stall items is just a glitch that occurs sometimes... a good fireball when no ones around should cause it to reset the object on the next cell reset and seems to fix it. As for Niranye I've found her in the dungeon once for some reason... idk why by she was actually locked in a cell... other then that I'd say check her house. Sometimes NPCs get stuck in their own house... Ahtar in Solitude is a good example of this. Lord Eydvar Talk | Contribs 20:28, 23 September 2012 (GMT)
Well, she's not at her stall, her house, the dungeon, the corner club, not even Candlehearth Hall, not anywhere as far as I can tell!! Running out of options here... I am right in thinking she's always essential right? And she doesn't go out on any excursions? Could she have fallen through the map? She was a bloomin' useful fence so I hope she hasn't permanently disappeared!! *sigh* Thanks for all the help and suggestions though guys, and I shall purchase a fireball spell to sort out the merchants tables... AyaHawkeye (talk) 22:32, 23 September 2012 (GMT)
As for NPCs found in a dungeon, there are at least two quests that can do that. One is the companions quest Rescue Mission, another one is added by Dawnguard simply called Rescue. --Alfwyn (talk) 13:07, 24 September 2012 (GMT)
Well, mystery solved... Found her dead just north of Candlehearth Hall. That kinda proves she's not permanently essential. Which is a bugger cos she was really quite useful! One fence down then. AyaHawkeye (talk) 19:06, 24 September 2012 (GMT)

Blood on the Ice epic fail?[edit]

So, Nyranye can be killed by Calixo(The Butcher) in the Blood on the Ice quest if the court's wizard is imprisoned first. HOWEVER, if you don't do the thieves guild quest "Summerset Shadow" before finishing BOTI, Nyranye will be an Essential, meaning Calixo can't kill her. So now, in my game, both Calixo and Nyranye are standing in the plaza with their weapons drawn. Both persons are busy. Trying to kill Nyranye via console doesn't work, she just gets back up... 70.83.181.144 17:59, 19 December 2013 (GMT)

niranye main article mistake[edit]

There is nothing in game to suggest niranye was a member or associate of the theives guild before they ran into hard times. Just the opposite, she is presented as an entrepreneur who is taking advantage of the chaos in skyrim to make as much coin as possible. No one in the theives guild mentions her when you get the summerset shadows quest. Her name is given as an accomplice to the murder of what's his face' daughter, but she doesn't become affiliated with the guild until after the dragonborn has dealt with these upstarts.— Unsigned comment by 92.40.34.230 (talk) at 22:14 on 3 November 2014

I'm not sure what the mistake here is supposed to be... The data clearly states she is part of the guild post-summerset shadows, and I believe the dialogue points out that she used to be part of the guild before. I don't see any issue with what was present in the article... Jeancey (talk) 23:22, 3 November 2014 (GMT)

Inconsistencies in dialogue[edit]

If you ask Niranye how long she's been in Windhelm, she says she "just got here from the Summerset Isles", but in the Thieves Guild special job, she claims she "used to fence for the Thieves Guild in Skyrim a long time ago".

Not sure if it's worth mentioning in the article. Just something I noticed. 220.245.137.47 12:08, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

My theories are a) She lived and fenced in a different city in Skyrim before until she recently moved to Windhelm (, probably inland one, as she has no contact of sailors) or b) She really fenced for Thieves Guild of Skyrim chapter long before, moved to another province, and recently moved back to Skyrim. A dialogue with Revyn Sadri reveals that sources of her lowly-priced merchandise are "very secretive". The fact that she has contacts of thieves/bandits/outlaws in Skyrim before Thieves Guild Quest implies that she is not new to Skyrim and her unsavory parts.
