Hot Spring Hunters[edit]

Has anyone encountered a group of three hunters (one male, two female) relaxing unclothed at a hotspring just southwest of Eldergleam Sanctuary? Two are sitting in the water, and the other is laying back with her arms crossed behind her head. There's a few tents nearby, as well as a bunch of clothing littered across the ground right behind them. I've encountered them both on PC and Xbox versions of the game, at very different levels on each, so I'm pretty sure that they are consistent throughout all platforms and game versions. They won't say anything other than "Yes?" and the like, and there's no dialog options. I'm just wondering if this is an easter egg or something? I'll posts screenshots later (though I'll have to edit as I'm using a nude mod on my PC-version of the game).Voraxith 17:37, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Here's the screenshots. WARNING: I did not disable my nude mod, so the two females are fully nude, not just in Skyrim underwear, as they appear in the unmodded version of the game.

They don't seem to move unless attacked, though I haven't spent a lot of time observing them for any behavior patterns.Voraxith 19:19, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

I don't see what's so special about this bunch. As you said, there's nothing more to it than that they're just relaxing at a hotspring, which can only be found in Eastmarch. -- 20:00, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
I guess I was just surprised by it, and thought it was an interesting little detail the developers threw into the landscape of the game. I guess it's not really an easter egg, I was curious if anyone knew any more about it. Voraxith 20:34, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

The most important thing about these three is, that they are actually the only ones in the whole (vanilla) game that are bathing....or did someone else find at least a bathtub somewhere? ;-)

hunter merchants[edit]

(ps3) out of curiosity i wondered if one could improve them a bit. having barely any money to buy my stuff and all. so i recently tried out to reverse pickpocket money onto one of them to see if the money does go down or not when selling my stuff to them. it doesn't. (tested with the hunter merchant at the camp near the three initial thingy stones) conclusion: you can reverse pickpocket (maybe?) any hunter your 100k or whatever amount you like in gold, sell all your stuff at once to them, then pickpocket your money back. make sure to save before the pickpocket event though. ;) if i find time and the will to investigate it further i will do so and write back here, but no promises :P anyway, this maybe should go under bugs section of this page. or exploits. — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 06:57 on 17 January 2012

addendum: well, further testing showed this reverse pickpocketing thing just breaks the hunter merchants. i did not notice at first that once you've done it, you will not receive the money from the stuff you sell them.

so i would say just add a bugs section and have it said there something like this:

bugs - (ps3) hunter merchants do not loose any of their money when trading with them, nor will they gain any money from when you buy something from them.

things you sell them seem to vanish (be careful what you sell them, there seems no way to retrieve those items)

if you pickpocket the traders you see their money stash and may notice that it is the amount of gold they can be traded with. do not tamper with it, since it will break their ability to trade. you still can initiate the trade, you can still sell your stuff (given you left them money, or even gave them more money), but you will not get the money you would get. — Unsigned comment by (talk) at 08:23 on 19 January 2012

Are the Hunters in the Prisoners Faction so many of the common enemies found in the wild will not attack them?--Skyrimplayer 21:10, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

lvlHunter is LCharHunter, which can be 4 races, male/female, which in turn uses EncHunter00Template, that has HunterFaction, JobMerchantsFaction, WEServicesHunterFaction, and WIGenericCrimeFaction (also its assigned crime faction). No Prisoners AFAICT!

Hunter turning hostile?[edit]

Hunters are automatically aggressive to most wildlife and will hunt them. When successful, they will possessively guard their kill. Coming too close to their kill will make the hunters draw their bows, yell warnings, and eventually attack if the player insists on keeping close.

Can anybody verify this? I have never had a hunter turn hostile towards me for standing too close to their kill. --XyzzyTalk 07:00, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

I've never seen a hunter really care about his kills, once the prey is dead he just stands where he is, not even approaching. I think this person may have actually encountered bandits, or Orc hunters. Elakyn 08:45, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree, it's totally invented. Hunters won't care about their killed preys. Maybe they attacked your horses and you because of the other known bug... Hexaae (talk) 03:42, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

I 'accidentally' killed a hunter at an unmarked shrine in the Reach--now all hunters seem to be hostile??... not that I care, just pointing it out.

There is a large hunter camp just south of Hlaalu Farm with 3 normal hunters that turn hostile to me as soon as I'm detected. I think there is a Frost Troll set to attack the camp, which would likely kill them all, though they seemed much stronger than most hunters.

Werewolf Hunter - Moved from article for verification[edit]

On very rare occasions, a hunter may be seen transforming into a werewolf and/or already in the werewolf state. This is one of the new random encounters in the Dawnguard DLC. This can be witnessed during the night time, northeast of Riften. If you are in werewolf form when this encounter happens, the other werewolf will not attack you until you revert to your regular form. Instead, it will follow you around as a friendly companion-type NPC until you revert your regular form. Then it will attack you.

Transformed as a vampire lord, near the dragon mound located to the west of Forelhost I found a hunter chasing an elk and transforming into a werewolf. He didn´t attacked. However, he mantained his "Hunter" label

Hunters will turn on your horse[edit]

Hunters will turn on your horse. When ridden, the hunters show no interest in the horse, but will attack the horse the moment you dismount. Care should be taken when dismounting a horse in the wild near hunters to avoid this issue.

Not exactly... it's your horse who's hostile against them (this also explains why this happens when you dismount). I've fixed my game with a personal mod that adds HunterFaction to the player horse faction and the problem disappears. Hexaae (talk) 03:45, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

The table says that hunters are Nords, but the picture is clearly showing a Redguard, and I've encountered a few Redguard hunters myself. I don't remember encountering any from an other race though, can someone verify this please? Elakyn (talk) 17:43, 21 December 2012 (GMT)

Hunters are hostile

Why would hunters start to attack? Several have attacked my character for apparently no reason, has happened in several holds. Can anyone explain why?
