Killing Vals Veran[edit]

hey can anyone confirm that you can kill Vals Veran before he starts teleporting? i just shield bashed him and it gave me a slow-mo kill while he was teleporting, and only had to fight the initial draugrs Addictng 20:01, 1 December 2011 (UTC)addictng

I'm not sure the current description of the battle with Vals Veran is true for all players. The guy above killed him after the first wave and I killed him in the middle of the second wave while he was still teleporting. The Draugr Overlord didn't even appear until everyone else was dead. What were others' experiences? 209.121.55.214 06:06, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Respawn?[edit]

Do the containers in this location respawn? I ask because I cleared the tomb and the side quest a while ago, and upon returning all the contaienrs were empty since I looted them and no Draugr respawned at all. I was wondering if the place would be suitable to set up shop in whilst role playing as a necromancer kinda character. 81.102.131.70 21:04, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Hillgrund's Tomb is flagged as non respawning, so yes it is safe.Werewolfvampirre (talk) 01:11, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Random or permanent loot?[edit]

In the room where one encounters the Frostbite Spider, to the left of and in between the exit and entrance, there is a section of destroyable webbing to uncover a lootable skeleton, and in my experience, an Orcish Mace of Harvesting perched up against the wall (easy to miss). I'm unsure how to verify whether this is a random piece of loot, or if there is always an item there (perhaps of varying level etc).— Unsigned comment by 144.132.53.89 (talk) at 07:51 on 20 January 2012 (UTC)

It was a "Steel Mace of Fatigue" for me. Looking at the game data it (000d72ad) is always persent and a random enchanted mace (from the LItemEnchWeaponMace list). Verifying such things will get probably easier once the CK is out, another method is to save before entering the zone, and visit the item twice, reloading from that save the second time. --Alfwyn 18:10, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Secret Room[edit]

In the room with Aunt Agna's body there is a rock door opposite the barred door. The pull chain to open it is in a niche just left of the door. There's a potion, and an unlocked chest with some minor loot. Han 16:38, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Which Hold is this in?[edit]

Can somebody verify which Hold the tomb is located in? It looks to be very close to the border between Eastmarch and Whiterun Hold. --Xyzzy 05:19, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

It's in The Pale. The Silencer speaksTalk 06:51, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
That's interesting. I see that CSList says it's in The Pale, and the CK says it's in The Pale, but every map I can find that shows Hold boundaries has Hillgrund's Tomb well south of The Pale. Oh, well. Can't fight City Hall... Thanks for showing me how to find this. --Xyzzy 14:04, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
To risk reopening an old discussion, the CSList and CK say it's in the Pale, but looking at its position on various maps it seems that whatever hold it's in, it ain't the Pale. Judging by its position in relation to nearby landmarks Whiterun hold is more likely where it is, considering that it's pretty much due south of Darkshade and South South East of Valtheim Towers of Whiterun, and South West of Cradlecrush Rock, in Eastmarch. In understand that there's a similar issue with Lost Echo Cave, game data says Falkreath, yet the map marker and actually travelling there says that it's definitely in Haafingar. Just my observation on the matter. ChrisJG (talk) 21:48, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
The in-game usage of what Hold a place is in, is for radiant jarl quests. This place is used in lists for the Pale, so it seems the jarls of Skyrim recognize this place to be in the Pale. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:57, 5 November 2012 (GMT)
I am moderately familiar that mechanic. Anyway, I've been having another look through the maps I have, including one with borders, it seems this place is close enough to the hold boundaries so that it can be considered as part of the Pale. Wouldn't be the first time I've thought a location was in one hold only for it to actually be within another. ChrisJG (talk) 22:06, 5 November 2012 (GMT)

() The game considers it to be in the Pale, however, it probably should be part of Eastmarch. The USKP (v. 1.2.6)actually changes this location so that it is part of Eastmarch hold. Whether this is correct or not, I don't know. --Blackpete (talk) 06:57, 28 October 2013 (GMT)

May not resawn, but bodies disappear[edit]

It would be good to add notes on the pages for tombs where this occurs. Now I have to do the big boss fight all over again because this place had way too much loot to let go.--Playerseekingbugs 22:51, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Exterior chest not necessarily master-locked[edit]

I came here at Level 4, and the chest was Adept level. There was also a coin purse on top of the tomb, much closer to the entrance and to the left (facing the tomb). — Unsigned comment by 174.6.51.17 (talk) at 23:48 on 28 October 2012‎

Hm, CSList shows that as level 25 locked, unleveled (albeit red - unconfirmed). In the CK it says Apprentice level, Leveled. --Alfwyn (talk) 15:11, 29 October 2012 (GMT)

First side room has three unlootable draugr?[edit]

I've gone through this place before, but I'm not sure if the first side room's three draugr stuffed in those narrow holes with only their feet or heads showing were loot-able. Is this usually the case, or did my 360 not properly load a few parts of the cell or something?--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 04:44, 2 February 2013 (GMT)

Unnamed Dead Body[edit]

Did anyone else find a completely unnamed dead body in this tomb? I found the body of a High Elf without any sort of identifying information, not even a generic title like "High Elf." I made him my dead thrall, and his subtitled moaning does not give a name like it usually would. I have his body in my house in Hjaalmarch. — Unsigned comment by 98.223.102.48 (talk) at 20:23 on 19 July 2013 (GMT)

Invincible draugr just after untriggerable trap[edit]

Anyone else had this happen? Past the trap, on the other side of the rockslide blocked path - a draugr pops up. I am level 60 with daedric enchanted bow and shot the bugger with numerous arrows. Didn't even register as hits. Went thru like the damn thing was a true ghost. In my thieves guild armor, I fell dead after 4 or 5 slugs from whatever ancient nord weapon he hacked with. What in the hell?!? Haha!209.91.107.193 09:03, 4 June 2014 (GMT)
