Vampires and gargoyles[edit]

SUMMONING i was a little confused on the way this page describes how the vampires use the gargoyles are they summoned like other dedrea from oblivion or are they summoned with a call and they fly to your aid?i understand that nobody knows the awnser to this but what are you guy's predictions? — Unsigned comment by 96.254.52.248 (talk) at 12:41 on June 14, 2012

Please ask people in the forums. This is not the correct place for such discussion, as wiki talk pages are supposed to be about the information contained in articles, not about completely speculative topics. Vely►Talk►Email 17:00, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Summoning gargoyles only via questline[edit]

Somebody should change the line where it says the summon garoyle ability is only available Through the vampire lord questline. This is not true, it is a perk you gain through use of the vampire lords health drain. — Unsigned comment by 59.167.167.221 (talk) at 13:02 on 29 June 2012

On this note, I was wondering what type(s) of Gargoyles does the ability summon? Is it always a basic Gargoyle or does it summon the stronger types at higher levels? I only seem to summon normal Gargoyles at the moment but I'm probably not a high enough level for that to be conclusive, anyone higher level able to weigh in? -- Haravikk (talk) 12:22, 19 November 2012 (GMT)
The Summon Gargoyle spell uses the Conjure Gargoyle effect. It seems to be this one which looks like it's always a level 13 gargoyle. I'm not entirely sure though, someone may want to double-check this. — ABCface 16:03, 19 November 2012 (GMT)

Incorrect Terminology[edit]

A Gargoyle is a specific form of statue (one on a building that contains a water spout), these are technically grotesques. GimliDotNet (talk) 08:11, 18 January 2013 (GMT)

Thanks for the info! However, we document in-game names, and the creatures in the game are called gargoyles. — ABCface 15:25, 18 January 2013 (GMT)

Detect Life[edit]

Should it be mentioned that detect life/death spells and Aura Whisper both fail to pick up on any Gargoyle? It seems an important point, since they're the only creatures in the game not detectable by any means. Also, the article says that spells can distinguish the difference between stationary gargoyles and statues, my question is how? Casting a spell on a stationary one didn't seem to do anything special to it. It didn't explode either. Now I do note that I can sometimes hear them breathing, but it isn't for all of them. -- Sees-the-Stars (talk) 22:09, 23 July 2014 (GMT)

I realized that gargoyles always detect me while sneaking in front of them. I already killed all the vampires in the place but the sneak icon was still open. Checked every corner and nobody was there... And then walked too close to one of those statues... And died. That is how I learned about the existence of gargoyles in the game xD I was using a low level character (around 10 or 11) Cant remember if with high sneak level this technique was still true, but that was my way of detect gargoyles.Tiancris (talk) 05:03, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
