Never started[edit]

The quest never started for me, even after obtaining her journal inside the Crypt and going through the entire dungeon. There also seems to be no physical instance of her in the world - I use console to "moveto" her ref ID, and it transports me outside just at the top of the stairs (this was after checking an empty Moorside Inn). However, she is not there. I have also moved her to me, and she is not there. Finally, I created a "duplicate" (I'm not sure if it's duplicate since she doesn't seem to exist in the first place) of her and pick-pocketed - no journal, no dice. I'm not sure what caused this error, but I was wondering if I was the only one experiencing problems. — Unsigned comment by 68.149.63.157 (talk) at 01:19 on 18 January 2012

Entering the cave before reading the journal can cause the quest to not start. I'm not sure how to fix this, have you tried killing the Pale Lady. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 20:06, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

Eisa Blackthorn Triggering[edit]

The first time I came upon this location I heard hostile bandits go into attack mode. Upon arrival Eisa had already killed them and I spoke with her without any problems. Instead of asking about the situation, I used the dialog that results in you fighting and killing her. I reloaded to see what she wanted. My character was riding a horse up the mountains above the ruins, which is why I missed the fighting before. I had dropped almost directly on top of the roof of the entrance. This time I carefully road around, circling to come at this from the front. I made a quicksave before discovering the location, but within sight of the ruin's front entrance. Eisa was simply standing there. No bandits whatsoever. When attempting to speak to her she only would say things like, "Hmph" and I couldn't start the quest normally.

I could pickpocket her journal, or kill her and read the journal and this started the quest. After loading and trying to see this bandit skirmish several times, I tried my first approach. I have no idea why, but when I descended from the mountains directly above the ruins onto the roof the bandits were back, Eisa killed them all, and she gave me the quest via real dialog. Makes absolutely no sense. It was the same quicksave file saved near the front, so for some reason, using this same save, if I approached from the mountain, above and behind the ruins it then triggered the event. It might be a bit late now, but try re-starting the game before loading. I've seen several cases where things like vendor's money or harvested ingredients remain the same between loads instead of resetting as they should. Robin Hoodtalk 05:22, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

I can confirm this, approaching from the main road doesnt trigger the bandits but dropping from the mountain down upon the roof of the ruins does trigger the event. I think that the trigger point for the quest is probably in the wrong place hence why it doesnt trigger from a front approach! Page Errors[edit]

This page about Eisa contains some errors.

First: She NEVER appears in the Moorside Inn at Morthal.

Second: in fact, after the quest, she will never appear everywere. Using console commands, her redID is followed by a D inside square brackets. This should mean that the character was "marked for delete" by the game.

I did the quest seven times, with different charachters and with different difficult. Sometimes before going to Morthal, sometimes after. The result was ALWAYS the same. Eisa Blackthorn disappears forever.

During my last attempt, I used the console to move her near my player. Nothing happened. So then, I used the commands "disable" and "enable" in sequence, after have prid the refID. So, Eisa appeared near my PC. Immediately, she pointed outside the Inn. I followed her for about one in-game hour (gosh!) and finally she ended about 50 meters south of the ambushed wagon that is right west the Frostmere Cave along the road. I waited. Waited. Waited .... exactly 24 in-game hours. ONE DAY!. She is ALWAYS here! Standing and doing nothing.

My conclusion: another of the two billions of bugs this game has. After she gives the starting for the quest, the game simply makes her disappearing forever, marking her for delete and disabling. impossible to see her in the Moorside Inn. Impossible, even using console as I did, have some dialogues with her or have her as follower or whatever other thing.

My two cents. — Unsigned comment by 93.38.54.57 (talk) at 16:20 on 28 June 2012

After meeting her outside, follow her as she makes her way to Morthal. The reason she probably doesn't show up in Morthal is because she is killed on the way there. I followed her and helped her fight off enemies and she made it to Morthal and went inside the Moorside Inn. The probem I am having is, I went back after some time and she wasn't there anymore. So I was wondering if did she leave Morthal to go somewhere else or did she completely disappeared from the game after the Pale Lady quest is finishes?--Bepease2269 04:13, 20 July 2012 (UTC)bepease2269
The Eisa page is accurate. I fell onto Frostmere Crypt (was looking for corundum ore just above it) and triggered her quest; much later, after mining at Sorli's mine and other adventures I ended up in Morthal. Eisa was at the Inn, sitting next to Benor. --Emma Emma of Falkreath (talk) 04:35, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Eisa does attack in Moorside Inn Morthal[edit]

I'm playing Skyrim VR on PS4, so no mods. I arrived at Morthal during the Civil War quest (Imperial, Regain the Pale) and decided to divert and do the Morthal quest. I went into the inn to talk to the innkeeper and was immediately attacked by some facepaint-lady while everyone else fled. Having no idea who she was, I retreated, and after the guard outside brought her to her knees, I was able to get an ID on her as 'Eisa Blackthorn'. As soon as she could stand, she came after me again and the guards started shooting her, so I ran away. Upon re-entering the inn, it happened all over again. I have not done the Pale Lady quest, and I have only come close enough to Morthal previously in this game to mark it on the map, so I didn't encounter her or her co-conspirators there. 75.170.37.221 14:59, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

In Windhelm[edit]

I am way into the game - over 100 hrs. and walked into the palace of the Kings in Windhelm and there were two Eisa Blackthorns standing near the door with the guards. All they will say is "Hurumph" and "Yes". I found it weird for them to show up there. Known bug? 108.228.153.68 12:20, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

Though I did find a few off-site accounts of other players who encountered duplicated NPC's in Skyrim, I couldn't find one of Eisa Blackthorn in particular. As such, I don't think that this is a particularly frequently occurring bug, and certainly not a known one. Are you using any mods, or are you playing a vanilla version of the game? And does reloading a previous save resolve the issue (assuming that you tried to do that altogether)? Aegithalos (talk) 17:01, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

The Pale Lady Quest does not start even with Unofficial Patch (Xbox One).[edit]

And Eisha doesn't appear to have bandits attacking her instead she stands there gawking at the entrance to frostmere crypt and when pickpocketing her she is not carrying her journal.

I believe this has something to do with the recent update because it worked fine in the past.
