Ysgramor's Spoon[edit]

How about Ysgramor's Spoon? — Unsigned comment by StriderVM (talkcontribs) at 03:24 on 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Shoplifting and assassins[edit]

When I shoplifted some things from his shop, a few days later three assassins followed me and they were carrying a note written by Calixto which says that they have to teach the player a lesson (and if he or she dies, it doesn't matter). As I do not have the English version of Skyrim, quoting the letter doesn't really make sense. So I'm asking here if somebody else experienced the same and would like to post the letter. By the way, does this phenomenon occur after shoplifting in any other stores? 88.77.51.108 00:32, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

> It does indeed. I stole a sweetroll (oh, the irony) from the kitchen in Candlehearth Hall and the contract I found on the thugs was signed by Nils. --86.183.71.47 15:11, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Shop opened[edit]

In my experience Calixto open the shop at9 AM not from 5AM. Could someone confirm for edit? — Unsigned comment by Kurt zelda (talkcontribs) at 01:30 on 6 January 2012

Calixto is set to run his shop between 10am and 5pm. If you have experienced him opening the shop at 9am, it may be worth an in-game double check before editing though. --Krusty 09:59, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Looting + Reappearing Loot[edit]

Towards the beginning of my game I looted Calixto's place, then completed the Blood on the Ice mission. Now whenever I return after a few days the place is restocked with all the things I stole. Not sure what the time frame is, precisely, but worth knowing for sure. — Unsigned comment by 173.51.228.59 (talk) at 18:10 on 11 January 2012

Stores and houses can reset, it's not specific to his place. -Vardis 07:23, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Just a bit weird that this shop (or houses in general) do restock even if their owner is dead. WooShell 01:04, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Bug Shop Never Open?[edit]

A new playthrough, I have found on the 360 version, this place is perma locked, regardless of anything I do. — Unsigned comment by 24.183.101.0 (talk) at 01:13 on 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Did you break into it? That can cause it to be permanently locked if you are caught. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 07:49, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
I have this same problem on a new game on PS3. I picked the lock during business hours and entered, and Calixto accused me of trespassing and told me to leave. Cappo 23:08, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
PC here. It locked on me but I didn't break in. not sure if I had him give me the tour while it was after hours...though that is likely my case.
Any solution to fix this bug? There should be a way to set his disposition to normal...at least until I end up watching his decapitation...or potentially feasting upon his guts while in wolf form. (the arms on the metamorphic creature are just too ape-like..but I can imagine that flawed design away)--Theindividual 07:43, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
I've encountered the same problem; I went to the shop during opening hours but it's locked, meaning I had to break in in order to get inside. However, anytime I now go in Calixto is in trespassing mode, telling me to leave, which means I can't give him the strange amulet. Is there any way to fix this on consoles? -- Haravikk 13:02, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
Never mind, it seems that if this happens you can still give the amulet to Calixto by waiting till he heads over to Candlehearth Hall, about 5pm or so. -- Haravikk 14:33, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
Make sure Calixto's not dead. (He's non-essential after Blood on Ice quest) Check the Hall of the Dead in Windhelm for his coffin or lack thereof. --Cybersquirt (talk) 08:13, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
I knew that the lock is glitched and the Butcher quest is probably the cause. When I was tasked to talk to Calixto about the amulet, it's been locked no matter the time. Then I reloaded the save and went to the shop after I spoke to Jorleif for the first time, and it was unlocked since 9AM.

Lock[edit]

It's a Master-level lock for me, not an Expert lock like the page currently says. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 10:02, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

It is an Expert lock for me, just like the page says. Not sure why it would change, could be related to one of those bugs where it gets permanently shut? — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 10:41, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
I can confirm it's a Master-level lock for me as well, and I'm at level 57. Perhaps it's a leveled lock (i.e. depends on the character level). BTW, the shop still opened, and I didn't try to break in. 201.86.152.200 17:01, 10 September 2012 (EDT)
I was in the middle of the Blood on the Ice quest, which could've been a factor. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 10:53, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
Had that "locked-out" problem too. Just time-shifted by "wait" in 4 hour steps... and from 5am in 1 hour steps. Suddendly I was inside... if I recall correctly even without opening the door. Anyway: this part of the quest needs a massive overhaul^^!! Took me hours to finally get it done. — Unsigned comment by 85.177.124.225 (talk) at 22:27 on 8 July 2012
A solution on how to proceed with BOTI can be found here (4th bullet). --Krusty 22:22, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
Blood on ice Calixto's House of Curiosities museum Always locked solution for xbox. Go to Windhelm wait until 6 pm, wait 14 more hours until 8 am, go to the door until the master lock message is seen and then wait 2 more hours close to the museum and it should now be open. — Unsigned comment by 96.246.152.135 (talk) at 04:21 on 22 October 2012
Don't have an account on here, and I don't feel like making one just to post this comment, but the lock is a Master level for me as well on PC. I'm level 28, but I'm alos having the always-locked bug. Perhaps the difficulty of the lock depends on if you are experienceing the bug or not? 72.160.68.22 02:40, 14 December 2014 (GMT)
Check the Hall of the Dead. In my game, it's a master level lock because he's dead.. he has a coffin in Windhelm's Hall of the Dead. --Cybersquirt (talk) 08:11, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
I just checked in the Creation Kit and the lock is leveled, with a minimum of an Adept-level lock. Robin Hood  (talk) 20:43, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
CONSOLE: Nintendo Switch. The Curiosity House is always locked as well on the from the get go. However the only thing that seemed to "fix" the lock issue work properly was buying the House for sale available in Windhelm (Hjerim). Hairokiin (talk) 20:17, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Upon encountering him at all the first time while at the murder scene, I had pickpocket him for his key. His place was open the first time I went in there and I had gone from level 41 pickpocket or so, but found as well that I had to have installed all the possible pickpocket perks allowed and not have inappropriate amounts of pickpocket enchanted equipment being worn that would lower my pickpocket probability--went all the way to having level 100 perfect touch perk, but as soon as I got that plus about 2 pickpocket episodes beyond that, he abruptly asked me to leave at around 4 or 5 PM. I still had the wheelstone amulet on me which meant that he would not be able to do his full crime ritual without it, but the entire next day his door was Master lock locked. The day after this happened and reading all of the above comments, I used his stolen key to open the place during what would be open hours. The first time I walked in in sneak mode like this he asked me to leave, but the next time an hour later he was busy doing his chores so I left without being asked. The third hour and time that I entered, I found him sitting in his usual chair ready to host guests, so then recommenced the pickpocketing cycles that at that point were 90% success rate. Each pickpocket attempt I rotate my body clockwise if looking down from above. When in the rotation about 1/4 turn, I drop down into sneak mode, and when the turn is completed I am in hidden mode ready for my next pickpocket attempt. I had my entire crew of follower and two Dead Thralls with me while doing this so I found that I was more successful if I let him say "I hope you know what you're doing with that spell" or whatever he says PRIOR to even starting my rotation so that he is silent during my whole rotation: non-sneak 1/4 turn, then remaining 3/4 in hidden sneak mode turn parts. I had the standing stone for 100+ extra carry weight and was always encountering the bug after a game save reload (after the unsuccessful pickpocket attempts) had it that I was overburdened, so I was compelled to open the character menu and glance at my clothing part of my inventory to overcome the bug and reinstate the 100+ carry weight bonus from the standing stone each time, because, if I was overburdened during a pickpocket attempt, my sneak mode would be "noisy" and way lower my probability of pickpocket success. When insuring that those two key things were done: 1. avoiding attempting pickpocketing when he was still vocalizing his objections to my Dead Thralls, and 2. avoiding pickpocketing while mistakenly overburdened, it greatly made my attempts successful rather than terrible repeated failures. 216.58.27.151 02:31, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Tour Dialogue[edit]

I never went to the House of Curiosities before I completed Blood on the Ice, and as a result have never taken the tour. Can we add a section with a transcript of Calixo's dialogue? — Unsigned comment by 67.81.221.147 (talk) at 17:26 on 10 August 2013‎

This will probably be added to Calixto Corrium's NPC page sooner or later. Forfeit (talk) 18:06, 10 August 2013 (GMT)
I just added the complete tour dialogue to his NPC page. :) --Krusty (talk) 19:34, 10 August 2013 (GMT)

A cellar?[edit]

There looks like there is a cellar through the cracks in the floor? Can a PC player with the dev kit please confirm or deny this - possible area removed from the game? Chaosworrier (talk) 10:46, 1 May 2014 (GMT)

It looks to me like a dummy area that was put there to create the illusion of a crawlspace or cellar. It doesn't look like it was ever intended to be developed into anything. Robin Hood  (talk) 22:23, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
I know this is a necropost, but to clarify for anyone else who is wondering, it's just a small area with nothing of interest in it; probably just there to make it look like there is something down there. It can't have been removed from the game because it's not big enough to possibly even stand in. AlphaAbsol (talk) 03:51, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
