NPC Questions[edit]

This way this NPC is set up in the game data is basically different from any other NPC we've created a page for so far. One noticeable difference is that his NPC record does not have a name. Instead, the name appears to be somehow assigned by the related quest. Also, his NPC record lists a template, LvlWarlockNecromancerMaleDarkElf (which in turn references a level list as a template). I have no idea what information is initialized based on the template(s). I'm assuming that his race does not come from the template, given that Bashnag sounds more like an Orc than a Dunmer. However, I could be completely wrong.

It would possibly be helpful to collect information about who/what Bashnag really is in-game (especially from PC users who can get info from the console). Starting with basic facts such as race/class, but probably also spells, loot, level, etc. --NepheleTalk 17:43, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

He looked like an ORC to me! 87.228.24.249 15:37, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
Oh, and he was wearing an Ancient Nord Armor. I can not say if he always does wear it or it is taken from a random list. 87.228.24.249 16:06, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

High level NPC[edit]

It turns out that at level 49 it is impossible to Dead Thrall him: "Arch Necromancer is too powerful" message appeared. — Unsigned comment by 31.128.131.87 (talk) at 06:49 on 28 February 2012

Incorrectly named[edit]

When I encountered him he was named 'Arch Necromancer' instead of Bashnag as it should be. — Unsigned comment by Elderscrollsfan1999 (talkcontribs) on 17 April 2012

In theory, that shouldn't happen, but they are based on Arch Necromancers (at least if you're high enough level), so it's easy to see where it might've happened. I'll add a bug report. Robin Hoodtalk 09:44, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
He is marked in the NPC summary to respawn, is it possible he becomes named simply as that necromancer after respawn? ABCface 04:07, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Class Discrepancy[edit]

I've read Nephele's post at the top of this page explaining that this NPC is set up very differently from most NPCs, and I don't have a good enough understanding of CSlist to verify the information on my own, so I'll post this question here. The description for Bashnag listed him as a Spellsword, while the NPC Summary listed him as a Conjurer. I'm assuming the NPC Summary is correct, since it was updated by Nephele's bot, but can someone verify this in game data for sure? I've gone ahead and removed the spellsword info, so at least there's not contradictory information, but I wanted to mention it here in case my assumption about the correct class is wrong. ABCface 04:45, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

According to the CK, he's a conjurer. The change to Spellsword was done back in January as part of the initial write-up, but it's unclear why that was chosen. I don't see anything in his dialogue that would suggest Spellsword off-hand, so I'd guess it was just a misunderstanding or maybe a copy & paste error that ended up never being noticed. Robin Hoodtalk 21:42, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the verification. I figured that conjurer was correct, but wanted to make sure since I went ahead and made the changes already. ABCface 22:38, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Respawn Conflict[edit]

Bashnag is noted as being able to respawn, however he appears in Southfringe Sanctum, which is a non-respawning zone. Shouldn't this prevent him from ever being able to respawn? Olaus (talk) 12:37, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
