tale of the toungues[edit]

does the line "ushered in a new age" in tale of the toungues mean that the tamriellic calendar will move onto the 5th age right after the events of skyrim? Andil the mage 17:56, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Not necessarily. The calendar segments are called eras, not ages. "A new Age" probably just refers to a time of peace, since there has been much war in recent history. --Velyanthe 20:02, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Plus, the song is about the first victory of the tongues over Alduin when they sent him forward in time, not about the Dragonborn's defeat of Alduin. Norowane (talk) 07:39, 24 March 2013 (GMT)

Lurbuk[edit]

I'm wondering if it's worth mentioning Lurbuk on this page, since he does technically perform as a bard. I figure since Lynly Star-Sung is noted, and she's unique from the others, maybe he should be mentioned in the same way? Or is he not worth mentioning here at all? ABCface 02:34, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

I don't think so... it's quest-specific, can only happen once, and isn't really a performance. It's more just a joke for the player than anything. I'm assuming that all he has is that poem listed on his page.
But speaking of which, I think his current note should be altered. He does indeed take a request. I don't know how to word that though... --Velyanthe►Talk►Email 20:09, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, that makes sense, I just figured I'd see if anyone thought it was worth mentioning before forgetting about it. As for the note, it seems all right the way to me the way it is. I can't really remember an encounter I had with him in the game very well, though. ABCface 01:44, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
It says it on his page: You can request that he sing a song of horror and death, etc. as one of the three DB speech options (the other two being "stay silent" or tell him he's gonna die). He comes up with a poem thing. --Velyanthe►Talk►Email 01:51, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I feel stupid now, because I completely missed the note about him in this section. I'll modify that note then. For some reason, I thought you were referring to the note on his NPC page, and I didn't know why it should be altered. Thanks for pointing out my lack of sense and observational skills. :) ABCface 02:14, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Hearthfire Bard's Music[edit]

I have a question. When you hire a bard (I have) and they play inside your home in the Hearthfire DLC, does the music (Generic Skyrim music that plays throughout the game's homes) continue to play even when your bard is playing? Mine does, and it's somewhat irritating. I'll ask my bard to play something and I can't even hear what they're playing because the original BGM continues playing and drowns out the poor bard. Can this be fixed or is it going to stay like this permanently? (I know you can go to settings and turn the music off, but that's not really the solution I'm searching for) thanks in advance --98.149.253.196 10:21, 2 April 2013 (GMT)

Bug?[edit]

I ask Oriella in Heljarchen Hall (Hearthfire) to sing Age of Oppression and she sings this and the subtitles confirm it:

We drink to our youth, and to days come and gone. For the age of oppression is now nearly done.
We'll drive out the Empire from this land that we own. With our blood and our steel we will take back our home.
Down with Ulfric the killer of kings. On the day of your death we'll drink and we'll sing.
We're the children of Skyrim, and we fight all our lives. And when Sovngarde beckons, every one of us dies!
But this land is ours and we'll see it wiped clean. Of the scourge that has sullied our hopes and our dreams.

I was wondering why she sang: Down with Ulfric the killer of kings. On the day of your death we'll drink and we'll sing. Because she said that I must be a Stormcloak to request that one and its a song about the Stormcloaks. DragonGaming 16:53,7/27/2013

While most bards are limited to one version of The Age of... song, the Hearthfire bards are not, they can sing either one. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 16:49, 27 July 2013 (GMT)
Sorry Forgot to Sign and she sang the age of oppression but with only one line from the age of Agression DragonGaming 16:53,7/27/2013
Ahh, those subtle tweaks to the other lines went unnoticed. Yes, it would be a bug to sing one line from another song inside another song. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 16:59, 27 July 2013 (GMT)
I just also noticed that when she sings it on her own without request that she sings it correctly. DragonGaming 17:07,7/27/2013

Pantea Ateia taking request.[edit]

When she is at the Winking Skeever. She will take requests. Her selection is identical Lisette's. — Unsigned comment by 103.6.238.80 (talk) at 07:56 on 10 October 2013‎

Bug confirmed but is a glitch[edit]

"When performing instrumental songs, bards will still be doing their performing animation but the music from the instruments themselves cannot always be heard."

It is true that the character animation for instruments frequently continues beyond the end of the song. Also, inside Hearthfire houses, the background music plays over the instrumental music and occasionally drowns it out. There are no known fixes, but these are glitches. While annoying, they do not affect game play as did an earlier Elder Scrolls fire animation game freeze and so the sentence has been removed from the page's bug section.
