Excessive detail[edit]

That's a bit much, does anyone think so?-Zydrate[][] 17:41, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, but the edit was created in good faith, and while the schedule is very long, it just needs to be boiled down a bit. --Krusty 17:44, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
I've tried to boil it down a bit, removed a little over 500 characters. Not happy with the formatting, but that's how I did it in OB, so, I don't know, ideas? --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 17:54, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
I just don't think an hour-to-hour schedule is necessary. Just more something akin to "He's here in the morning, works around here in the day and sleeps here at night".-Zydrate[][] 18:13, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Well, if you look here and read that sector that's generally the norm were going for (eventually). --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 18:14, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Hrm. I just don't remember NPC pages being that unnecessarily detailed with their minute-by-minute schedules. But if it's a policy, okay then.-Zydrate[][] 00:01, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Talk about obsessive! I love it. if anyone is willing to spend time cataloging the behavior of such a fine specimen (sarcasm) then let them!
Btw...when Kodlak is killed, you find Athis on the north end of the table writhing on the ground with some chick hunched over him. This is just off hand knowledge btw. ;) It just really stood out when playing through the Companions quest line. Theindividual 10:51, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Inheritance[edit]

Upon his death, did anyone receive an inheritance? I killed him, and about 3 minutes later a courier with a letter from Jarl Balgruuf stated Athis had died, and that I was bequeathed 200 gold pieces. — Unsigned comment by 67.175.135.205 (talk) at 23:29 on 23 December 2011

As with 'suddenly hostile' below, he & torvar both attacked me & the guards finished them off after I ran outside. Just afterwards a courier arrived with an inheritance from both of them.
I am assuming that any follower will leave you something in their will. 62.49.53.177 13:47, 2 July 2013 (GMT)
Yes, the inheritance letter can come from any NPC whose disposition (relationship rank) with you is high enough when they die. — ABCface 14:12, 2 July 2013 (GMT)

Headless[edit]

I seem to have encountered a bug where a headless Athis is walking around Jorrvaskr. He doesn't speak when you initiate conversation with him but the speech options (eg if you've finished the questline) such as 'follow me, I need your help' are still there. I didn't kill him either, was wondering if anyone else had ran into this bug? --VergilSparda 00:08, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Suddenly hostile[edit]

Him and Torvar just attacked me in Whiterun for no reason that I can figure. I'm about 6 quests into the Companions, and I don't have a bounty or anything like that: I was just selling stuff to Eorlund and they came charging at me. Don't know if that's a spoiler or a bug. Aliana 16:54, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

They became hostile when I came back from killing the Glenmoril Witches after the Silver Hand attacked Jorrvaskar. Then there was a bug where I killed Torvar and his body disappeared into the ground. Why did they attack me is it because they are with the Silver Hand?--151.199.61.29 19:49, 5 February 2012 (UTC)bepease2269
I experienced the same thing (as the original poster) - I walked into Jorrvaskr to talk to Vilkas to complete a Rescue Mission, and Torvar and Athis came in through the back door and attacked me. I don't have a Whiterun bounty, and my other bounties are both under 50. I completed the Companions questline a million years ago (well, not quite that long), and I have been doing quite a few radiant Companions quests lately. I can't think of any reason why these guys should be hostile. I'd say it's a bug. EDIT: I calmed Torvar and Athis, and they went downstairs. I then waited in the main hall and Ria came in and attacked me too. They're all out to get me! Username12345 (talk) 06:40, 22 May 2013 (GMT)
See this discussion. This seems to be a bug common to many named NPCs in Whiterun. I experienced the exact same thing. If you go punch a guard and clear the resulting bounty, the hostility stops. --Xyzzy Talk 03:18, 8 June 2013 (GMT)

Training[edit]

Do you need to be a member of the Companions in order to receive training from Athis? He simply won't offer training to me at any time of the day, I'm not in the companions and I have level 59 in One-Handed. -- Haravikk (talk) 17:10, 24 November 2012 (GMT)

Yes, this is noted on the article already. I'll go ahead and add the note to the Trainers page so it's more clear there too. — ABCface 21:54, 24 November 2012 (GMT)

Ruins of Bthalft (Aetherium Forge)[edit]

I just finished Lost to the Ages and when I came ou of the Aetherium Forge, Athis was walking around outside. I haven't started the Companions questline yet and I'm clueless as to why he's here— Unsigned comment by 27.252.118.167 (talk) at 01:51 on 14 November 2014

I know it's been nine years and no one cares anymore, but the Companions can spawn as random world encounters, and one of the spawn points is right next to Bthalft, with the path to Whiterun leading through the ruins. Ichai (talk) 09:50, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

Rude Dialogue[edit]

I saw him farkas and torva near one of the dwemer ruins they kept running back and fourth right by me with their weapons drawn and torva said well are you gonna let me watch or not. Which i don't know what he's talking about. then Athis insults me by saying I swear every wanderer who comes to whiterun is weaker than the last. Which is a shame because I thought Athis was more level headed than the others. — Unsigned comment by PrinceRetro (talkcontribs) at 11:37 on 23 May 2018
