Hired Thugs[edit]

"He will also send hired thugs to attack you if you steal the ingots from his basement or workshop."

Is this really worth noting? A lot of NPCs do this and I'm pretty sure it's random.--24.140.113.127 16:15, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

It is random and not tied to the ingots. So not worth mentioning on every single NPC page - see Skyrim:Steal, Thugs hunt player for more information. --Alfwyn 16:29, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
I went ahead and removed it then.--24.140.113.127 16:37, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

He also does not respawn.[edit]

I was attacked by a dragon in this village and many of the villagers took up arms including Alvor. Well, sadly he didn't make it. Sad because he had such nice things for sale. — Unsigned comment by 71.179.122.44 (talk) at 20:54 on 25 January 2012 (UTC)

The same thing happened to me. I waited and waited at his forge one day expecting him to show up, but he never came. Then I took a look around town and found him laying face-down in the cabbage patch behind the inn with his wife standing over his body, mourning. Amusingly, after I resurrected him with the console she forgot all about him being dead and went back to normal. Alvor died for me too in a dragon attack, and has been lying face-down outside the Riverwood Trader for months now. I've read that you can drag dead bodies to a river and they will float away. Does this actually destroy the object though, or will they still be in memory? I'm on the 360 so can't use the console to destroy him. Speccy 08:19, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean with will they still be in memory, but I have a hard time believing that dumping his body in the river will erase all memories of him... Wolok gro-Barok 17:11, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
I went back to visit riverwood and had a dragon attack and sadly Alvor was killed along with a Whiterun guard. His daughter was at the body crying and then said "I can't believe this", or near to that, then got mad and she ran away and wouldn't let anyone talk to her. She just kept getting mad and yelling 'leave me alone', then running away again. the next day it was like she never even saw daddy get roasted alive by a dragon, she was all happy and chilling by the forge jabbering on and on once again about how she was going to be the best blacksmith when she grows up.
AS for bodies I killed Anise when I was like lvl 5 or so and just today at lvl 26 and many weeks later after dumping her body in the river by her shack, found her body washed up on some rocks way down past her house near riverwood but the other side of town in reference to her shack. And not just like caught up near the waters edge she was a good distance from the river over some boulders, I was quite surprised myself at how far her body made it.Drizzit Do'Urden (talk) 15:21, 25 July 2013 (GMT) walkbyfaith76

He doesnt leave his house[edit]

is this a glitch? i cant buy from him. — Unsigned comment by 75.22.86.247 (talk) at 07:35 on 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Do you enter the house and find him there, or is there a chance he might just have died somewhere where you do not see him? --MortenOSlash 17:24, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
He won't leave his house if Sigrid ever dies. 68.202.190.159 00:24, 31 October 2013 (GMT)
Will he sleep during that time, or does he stay up all time? By the way, what platform is your observation done on? If it is PC, do you have any mods or unofficial patches installed? —MortenOSlash (talk) 06:05, 31 October 2013 (GMT)

Does he sharpen weapons?[edit]

Description says, "He repairs the sawmill, SHARPENS WEAPONS FOR A PRICE, and sells food, weapons, armor, and crafting items."

I don't have any options for him to sharpen weapons. Is this just my game, or does he do this for anyone else? — Unsigned comment by Archknave (talkcontribs) at 14:41 on 22 July 2012

He also never goes near the sawmill, it is taken from his own dialogue, though slightly twisted, "I make a decent living sharpening axes and fixing the sawmill." The Silencer speaksTalk 14:17, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Whole Family Unmoving[edit]

Alvor, his wife Sigrid, and their daughter Dorthe are all standing in the street and won't go about their usual schedules. I can talk to them, but Alvor doesn't have his vendor option because he isn't near his forge.

I'm on PS4 Special Edition. No mods.104.15.180.18 01:02, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

An arm contract from Stormcloaks[edit]

In a tavern banter with Hod, Alvor reveals that he is the one who makes catapults for Stormcloaks in Battle for Whiterun. In exchange, Alvor wants woods for shields. I don't know the exact quotes. Can someone record and post the banter(s) here? — Unsigned comment by 202.80.212.31 (talk) at 14:41 on 12 November 2023 (UTC)
