Verification for the Ancient Nord weapons dialogue[edit]

See this screenshot. It is specific to the weapons. ·kretiktalk 03:13, 26 August 2013 (GMT)

I removed the verification template from the article and then set it back, because I realized I'm not sure if normal Ancient Nord weapons will trigger it. Never tried it with those, just the Ancient Nord Hero ones. ·kretiktalk 03:17, 26 August 2013 (GMT)
I just received the message while not carrying any Ancient Nord weapon.76.113.77.189 00:45, 29 August 2013 (GMT)28 August 2013
Could you be more specific and give details on your equipment? — ABCface 02:35, 29 August 2013 (GMT)
I can't find any condition operators on this dialogue, in CSList or the CK. I'm beginning to think that the "weapons" that Alduin is referring to are Dragon Shouts rather than physical weapons. --Xyzzy Talk 03:49, 29 August 2013 (GMT)
There is one condition: this dialogue only occurs during this quest. --Xyzzy Talk 04:00, 29 August 2013 (GMT)

() As I mentioned higher on the page, I think Xyzzy's right here. I heard this quote first while equipped with Nord Hero weapons (the ones you can make at the Skyforge after completing the Companions questline from Draugr weapons), and thought he was talking about them. But I've heard it with all sorts of different equipment now, including only carrying spells, and I think he means Dragonrend now. --Morrolan (talk) 02:25, 6 September 2013 (GMT)

i got the dialog from wearing a dragon priest mask — Unsigned comment by 99.255.161.167 (talk) at 04:36 on 8 December 2013‎
We've already determined from game data that what your character is wearing does not cause Alduin to say this. It's simply specific to this quest, and can be spoken no matter what you are wearing. --Xyzzy Talk 18:32, 8 December 2013 (GMT)

Follower trapped in Time Wound[edit]

Opened the Elder Scroll and watched the cut scene but, afterwards my followers gone. I couldn't find him so I used console commands to teleport to him and I am just brought to the time wound. — Unsigned comment by 70.192.194.161 (talk) at 10:48 on 20 December 2013

Do you get teleported to the place where the time wound now is, or do you get teleportet to the "past"? Either way, just use the console command the other way round and teleport that follower to you ( prid <followerID> followed by moveto player) -- SarthesArai Talk 13:11, 20 December 2013 (GMT)
This is an old thread, but I figured out how to solve this problem if anybody else is experiencing it. Use the normal moveto player commands, then disable and enable the follower. They should fade back into existence in front of you with their inventory intact. 24.158.37.230 05:08, 25 January 2014 (GMT)

Possible PC-Only Fix to Invincible Alduin[edit]

Ive had good results (as in, 100%) of fixing alduin's being invincible. Use the console and select alduin, then use the disable command. after he vanishes, use the enable command. This will resolve the issue even during battle. At least, its been working for me. 74.128.43.180 19:50, 22 December 2013 (GMT)

Thanks for the info. I'll add it to the article. --Xyzzy Talk 07:06, 23 December 2013 (GMT)
It worked for me perfectly. just disable then enable again immediately --malon Talk 11:26, 06 March 2016 (CST)

In case the 'enable' - 'disable' route still doesn't fix Alduin, you can also try selecting Alduin while the console is open, and then using 'setav health 0'. When combined with Dragonrend, this will bring Alduin to the ground. Hit him once he is on the ground and he should concede defeat. Just remember to 'setav health' back to a positive value afterwards so Alduin can fly away.

And if you are patient, keep trying to reload previous saves that were made before using the Elder Scroll will also eventually remedy this glitch. Make sure that each time you reload to a previous save, wait until Paarthurnax tells you to use Dragonrend before using Dragonrend. Using Dragonrend prematurely may perpetuate this bug. Hope this helps. Cheers! -Deltahost (talk) 08:48, 14 March 2014 (GMT)

Problem with Paarthurnax[edit]

I'm at Alduin's Bane right now and I keep hitting Paarthurnax instead of Alduin. I can't seem to avoid hitting him. And since Alduin is more focused on Paarthurax than on me, when Alduin is in range for me to hit him with Dragonrend, Paarthurnax gets in the way, and when Paarthurnax is out of the way, Alduin is out of range. And of course I can't do anything against Alduin while he's in the air. Any advice? — Unsigned comment by ‎ 24.226.102.0 (talk) at 03:23 on 4 January 2014

As noted in the article, if you accidentally hit Paarthurnax with Dragonrend, Alduin will often hover in place and attack Parthurnax while he's grounded, making Alduin an easily target for further shouts. Dragonrend has a very short cooldown time, so you should be able to shout again while Alduin is hovering. Wearing an amulet of Talos and activating a Talos shrine before this battle will further shorten your cooldown timer. --Xyzzy Talk 05:12, 4 January 2014 (GMT)

Possible 360 solution to Invincible Alduin[edit]

I ran into the issue of having an invincible Alduin with no saves to revert to. My solution was to run down the mountain, enter High Hrothgar, then return back out - effectively resetting Alduin. --99.253.66.198 22:26, 31 January 2014 (GMT)

Bug? Elder scroll stuck in inventory[edit]

I noticed, i still carry the elder scroll and don't know how to get rid of it, since it is still marked as quest object. Is there any solution (on PS3)? I already proceed in the questline. --85.180.0.247 13:58, 20 February 2014 (GMT)

Do you have Dawnguard installed? In that case it may be marked as quest object for the main quest there. --Alfwyn (talk) 14:16, 20 February 2014 (GMT)
I'm pretty sure you're able to sell the Elder Scroll to Urag at the College of Winterhold. --Vice8641 (talk) 22:53, 24 February 2014 (GMT)
I added a note to the article after this topic started that states this. --Xyzzy Talk 04:31, 25 February 2014 (GMT)

Unable to read scroll at the time wound(Xbox 360)[edit]

I have encountered a serious and frustrating problem. My character cannot open and read the Elder Scroll at the time wound during Alduin's Bane. Is there a fix? Has anyone else encountered this? — Unsigned comment by 24.236.104.58 (talk) at 01:42 on 26 April 2015 (GMT)

Yes you're not the only one. Had the game since launch, with 267 hours into this save. The only fixes I've come across is console commands for PC users; nothing for us Xbox guys. ~O.Hawk. — Unsigned comment by 108.36.197.154 (talk) at 02:10 on 24 May 2015 (GMT)

No Alduin in cutscene[edit]

Ran across a new bug today. The cutscene played as usual, but when Gormlaith cried, "Alduin approaches!" he never in fact showed up, which meant they never used Dragonrend and I couldn't learn it or return to the present. Eventually, I used the console to move on: setstage MQ206 100 to end the cutscene, then player.teachword 44251/44252/44253 to learn Dragonrend (which I then had to use dragon souls to power up). However, after I defeated Alduin, he delivered his usual angry exit speech and flew off, but then came back a minute later and started fighting again. Argh! Has anyone else ever run across this bug? Wordmama (talk) 20:28, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

I had this bug, but eventually got it to work. I tried a few things out at the same time, not sure which did it. Exited game and re-entered, loaded a non-quicksave, then didn't touch mouse or keyboard during cutscene until Alduin attacked the trio. (all dlc except space core. also using usleep, sky ui, and one plant respawn mod) Nafblat (talk) 04:56, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
I too have this bug. The cutscene plays up until the point that the heroes say Alduin is approaching, but he never does. So the game is stuck there until I reload or quit. I'm on a PS4, so no console commands are available. SE, no Mods ever. I'd be really disgusted with Bethesda, but it's not as if this was the main questline of the whole entire game. And it's not as though Bethesda has had years and years to fix this bug. And it's not as though Bethesda has developed and released new versions of the game with this bug still in it. And it's not as though Bethesda's modding community has researched and written fixes to many of the game's bugs so Bethesda could focus on the really knotty problems. ... Oh, wait. Valeria (talk) 18:40, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
UPDATE: I went off and did some other stuff, and although I didn't finish any quests, I was finally able to get the cutscene to complete. Valeria (talk) 21:33, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Next Quest (The Fallen) doesnt Start[edit]

Tips?[edit]

ok so I know i'm like 3-6 years late but I made a new account. I don't have very good gear and it's really hard to fight Alduin. Does anyone have any tips on what equipment/strategies to use? Right now I'm using the Axe of Whiterun and Thieves guild armor.

Console Alduin Invncible fix for those using mods[edit]

I used the Cheat Room spell “Cheat Spell” set to “Set Essential off” on Alduin and he immediately became vulnerable to my dragonrend. I had tried every other fix I could find for this problem and this is the only one which was effective. As simple as it is, I wanted to share here so others could save the trouble I have gone through. Crayolamanic (talk) 07:40, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
