Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. After offending the Thieves Guild, wait for them to calm down.
  2. Talk to Vex and pay 1,000 gold.
  3. Pay your way back into the guild.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

You get this quest for offending the Thieves Guild, usually by assaulting/murdering one of their members, attempting to steal from them and getting caught or murdering someone during a guild quest. This will result in an expulsion, meaning no more training sessions or fencing services and limited conversations with guild members. To rejoin the guild, speak to Vex in The Ragged Flagon, who will reprimand you and demand 1,000 gold as reparations. Return when you have the money and you will be let back into the guild.

If you've been expelled for assault, you may need to wait 48 hours outside the Ragged Flagon for hostile guild members to calm down.

Bugs[edit]

  • This quest may incorrectly trigger as a result of doing Dark Brotherhood quests.
Mod Notes: Could also have something to do with having previously triggered Reparations (see discussion), but DB seems more likely.

Quest Stages[edit]

Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage TGBan stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest TGBan.
