Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Hilund's Idea[edit]

After the quest Retaking Thirsk, the Nord inhabitants will start over inside Thirsk Mead Hall, although Hilund knows that old habits die hard and that the Nords can fall back into coziness at any time. When asked how the hunt is going, she will tell you about an idea she had to prevent future Riekling attacks: "To tell you the truth, I've been a little distracted. I've got this... idea. I want to ring the whole hall with their little spears. Mocking us, from the past. Making us work harder. Fight better. The only problem is, I'm going to need a lot of spears. A lot. So, if you could find a bunch of them for me, that would make it easier on me." After this speech, the quest will start right away. You will need a total of 50 riekling spears so she can decorate the hall.

Find the Spears[edit]

Riekling spears are the preferred ranged weapon used by rieklings all over Solstheim. The spears can be picked up from the ground once they have been thrown or, alternatively, can be found on the bodies of defeated rieklings (chance of up to 8 spears on all "missile" variants). Note that you will have to keep track of the amount of riekling spears in your inventory yourself, as the game will not even alert you when you reach the required amount of 50 spears. The list below shows all guaranteed locations of loose spears, followed by a list of locations where the "missile" variant of rieklings can be found:

Redecorating Thirsk[edit]

Once you have acquired the 50 spears, return to Hilund in Thirsk Mead Hall. When you hand her the spears, she will assure you that you brought enough: "Oh, I'm sure it will be. Give them here, and I'll get to work soon!" She will then hand you a leveled amount of gold as reward. When you return later, you will notice that Hilund was serious. Outside the hall will be a full decoration of carefully placed riekling spears, a constant reminder to the Nords of past events, and a warning to all rieklings to stay away from Thirsk Mead Hall.

Bugs[edit]

  • The dialogue to start the quest may not appear after finishing Retaking Thirsk.
    • On PC To fix this, enter the command: setstage DLC2ThirskFFHilund 0

Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage DLC2ThirskFFHilund stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest DLC2ThirskFFHilund.
