Merge[edit]

I'm not sure this page should be merged with this one. The alchemical properties of the two ingredients are the same but everything else right down to the name is different. If the two pages are merged we'll end up with big ol' headings discussing the relative locations individually in any case. The same applies to Mute Screaming Maw and Deformed Swamp Tentacle (which hasn't been tagged). I'm not sure what is meant by "most other "special" variants" - the one that springs to mind is Vampire Dust and there it's the Right Thing to do because both types have the same name. –RpehTCE 10:24, 11 January 2008 (EST)

Yes, I agree that this is probably best kept as a separate page. A note pointing out that its alchemical properties are identical to standard Watcher's Eye would probably benefit readers, but as Rpeh says most of the contents of the page are distinct. I'm guessing perhaps Lurlock is referring to cases like Pinarus' Prize Minotaur Horn which is just a redirect to a section on Minotaur Horn. But I think there are more than enough differences in a case such as Blind Watcher's Eye (and the other SI oddity ingredients) to warrant a different treatment from Pinarus' Horn:
  • Blind Watcher's Eye is an ingredient that must be found to complete a quest, therefore readers will be actively searching for it. Pinarus' Horn is just a piece of trivia / minor reward after completing a quest. It is not needed to complete any further quests and can not really be used to accomplish anything.
  • Blind Watcher's Eye comes from a plant, and that plant needs to be documented in an ingredient infobox. Therefore, it wouldn't even be possible to merge the infoboxes if the two ingredients were on the same page.
  • Blind Watcher's Eye is a respawning ingredient and therefore a player can theoretically collect many instances of this ingredient. This means that you can usefully think about it as an ingredient, from which multiple potions can be created. With Pinarus' Horn, there's only the one instance, so potion recipes based upon the horn are somewhat pointless.
So I'll go ahead and delete the merge tag. --NepheleTalk 02:04, 12 January 2008 (EST)
