Denthis trapped by the enchanted spellbook
The wizard Valdam Andoren in Davon's Watch told me his apprentice has stolen his spellbook. I offered to help find him, but there's a problem. To punish him for a previous theft, the wizard changed the warding rune on the book.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Talk to Valdam Andoren.
  2. (Optional) Find Dithis Romori in the Watch House.
  3. Search for the book.
  4. Break the spell.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Valdam Andoren is in the Davon's Watch Mages Guild. He says his apprentice, Denthis Romori, has stolen his spellbook. Valdam put a warding rune on the book, and Denthis has fallen prey to it. He needs you to recover the precious tome. Dithis, the apprentice's brother, may have more information.

You can either go talk to Dithis or get started on finding Denthis and the tome.

Dithis is in the Watch House tavern near the Mages Guild. He is sitting just inside the entrance, on the right. He will give you the words to break the ward: Arkay's Beard!

Denthis didn't get far. He is to the right of the Mages Guild, beside the grate to the Outlaws Refuge, bound by the ward. He is of no help in his state, so pick up the book and you will have a choice in passwords.

<Magical inscriptions swirl across the cover of this spellbook. Two stand out: "Eyes of Akatosh" and "Arkay's Beard".>
Eyes of Akatosh!

If you say Eyes of Akatosh!, it will turn Denthis into a chicken. You can now collect the spellbook and return to Valdam for your reward.

Arkay's Beard!

Pick the second one, Arkay's Beard!, and the ward will break, freeing Denthis. You can speak to him to end the quest.

Quest Stages[edit]

I should look around Davon's Watch for an apprentice named Denthis. I've been told I could ask his brother, Dithis Romori, for more information. He's at a tavern southeast of the library.
Complete one: Talk to Dithis Romori or Find the Spellbook
Denthis Romori told me his brother took the book east into a small courtyard to read.
Objective: Find the Spellbook
I've found the unfortunate apprentice. He's tripped the ward on the spellbook. To break the spell, I should chant one of two incantations: "Arkay's Beard" or "Eyes of Akatosh."

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
