Steward Thinfrid is a Nord who serves Jarl Reddharn of Morthal. He will be advising the Jarl in his hall during Svana's visit to get Reddharn's support.

Quest-Related Events

While he isn't directly involved in the quest, he will comment on events if you talk with him. When you first arrive, he will comment on Svana if you talk to him before the Jarl:

"Haven't seen the princess of Solitude in awhile.
Funny, from what I've heard recently, I expected someone a little more … drunk."

Careful, you're talking about the high king's daughter.

"Oh, no disrespect intended, but her reputation precedes her, and that's all I'll say about that matter.
Now, if you're going to speak to the jarl, you better get to it. He's not as patient as the high king."

After receiving a task to check the nearby Morthal Barrow:

"A number of good soldiers disappeared at the barrow. Find out what happened to them and you will have done a great service for our hold."

Once you have returned from the barrow to report:

"Have you investigated the barrow as you promised? What news of our soldiers?
Inform the jarl immediately or get back out there and get it done."

He'll thank you after he listens to your report to Reddharn:

"You and the she-giant, you did a good thing for the people of Morthal. Thank you."

While Jarl Reddharn agrees to go to Solitude, Steward Thinfrid will assure you that Morthal will be fine in his absence.

"Lady Ninetha and I will manage the hold in the jarl's absence. We shall be fine while he consults with the high king."
