Quest-Related Dialogue[edit]

Prior to starting the quest, approaching her, she will be scribbling note:

"How did he even get in the ruins?"

Speaking to her, she will either start with:

"Are you with the college too? Waste of our time. Belarata's locked as tight as ever."
"Sorry about the mess! Research materials and all that. Had to unpack somewhere!
Those fellows watching the bridge wouldn't let me pass! Asked whether I'd seen a silver guar…I didn't know they had those here!"
"It's barbaric, really. A river standing in the way of honest research? In Summerset there'd be a bridge here. And a college. Maybe even an orrery!"
"Belarata is closed. All you'll find is a shady Khajiit selling rubble and old spoons."
What's special about this place?
"Belarata? It's a very old structure of Ayleid origin. She's never been opened! That's why I came. I'd heard he's been inside.
Complete waste of time, though. She's still sealed up, no matter what that Khajiit Jurak-dar says!"
What does he say?
"That no one else can enter, and the only way to study Belarata is to buy the garbage he sells!
She's locked up tighter than the Crystal Tower of Summerset Isle. It's unconscionable. He's profiting on trash when I've got work to do inside."
Let me look into it.

Once you've started the quest, you can ask more questions:

"What can Jurak-dar be up to?"
"Researchers have been coming here for an era with no luck! Any entrance must be very old indeed."
Are you studying ruins?
"Aren't they fascinating? Ayleid civilization interests me. I'm documenting several ruins in the area."
You mentioned the Crystal Tower earlier ….
"An ancient place of power on Summerset Isle.
It's beautiful, especially at dawn. Or so I hear. I've never seen it with my own eyes."
Who were the Ayleids?
"Some call them Heartland High Elves. They worshipped Daedra, kept slaves, and were notoriously violent people.
It's hard to reconcile that knowledge with their beautiful structures, isn't it?"
Who pays for your research?
"I study with Telenger the Artificer. Have you heard of him? I went to Bangkorai with him once. It didn't end well for most of the students, but fortunately, I left unscathed.
He suggested I come to Belarata."
What happened in Bangkorai? / What happened to the students in Bangkorai?
"I … can't talk about it. Telenger forbids students to discuss their work with anyone else but him."
Telenger?
"He's an instructor with the Mages Guild in Auridon. I'm lucky to work with him, I can tell you that!
Telenger encourages direct study of the Ayleid ruins. I admire him."

After the quest, she'll thank you:

"The artifacts Jurak-dar allowed me to examine have been most enlightening!
Thank you for making this possible!"
"A lover's pact! Who would have guessed?"
"I cannot wait to hear back from the college! What a find!"

Notes[edit]

  • The dialogue line "You mentioned the Crystal Tower earlier..." will still appear if this is the first time speaking with Raelys, after completing the related quest.
