Cold Trail[edit]

After reaching Jhaka:

Ember: "That's him, over there! he's still alive! Jhaka, we're here to help!"
Jhaka: "Is that Ember: The little shadow of Skywatch?"

Before unlocking the cage:

Please, the bandits locked me inside this cage and left me here. This one wishes to be free.

After unlocking the cage and talking to Jhaka:

You must be real. Not even in this one's wildest fevered hallucinations could I have imagined seeing Ember after all these years. What a gift.
She looks well. Healthy and strong. And she has found a strong companion. Jhaka is relieved.
Ember has been searching for you for a long time. Are you all right?
Once, Jhaka wondered if Ember had orchestrated some part of our family's fate. But that thought passed as quickly as it came. The little girl with the ember eyes-she would never harm us.
She ... <cough> was ... <cough>
Let's get you out of here and then we can talk more.
Yes, of course. Thank you. This one had hoped not to die in this wet, dark place but had resigned myself to it all the same. This is a welcome change.
Jhaka will follow you to safety. Lead the way.

If talked to before leaving Pulk:

Jhaka is fine. Jhaka can keep up. It will be good to breathe fresh air again.
Lead on, friend of Ember. This one will follow you to the exit of this horrid place.

On the way back:

Jhaka: "This one can keep up, do not worry."
Ember: "Careful Jhaka. Take it slow."

Before reaching the exit:

Jhaka: "Ths one never thought he'd leave this place."

Right at the exit:

Jhaka: "This one can smell fresh air!"

After Ember heals Jhaka and you talk to him:

Ah, the fresh air already makes this one feel better. I am in your debt.
And Ember ... how clever she was to track me down. She was always so smart. I used to love the way her eyes all but burned in her skull when she was trying to solve a problem.
Do you remember what happened the day you were taken?
It was all very sudden. It was a group of mercenaries though not any faction this one was familiar with. They descended quickly and incapacitated me. Then, they went for Silverslip and Song.
There was one strange thing ....
What was strange?
It was Silverslip's expression. She looked scared as they took her and Song away. you must understand, Silverslip was never scared. Even when truly afraid, it manifested as anger. It was odd, as if she knew something in that moment we did not.
Can you remember anything else: Ember wants to track down Song and Silverslip too.
This one remembers very clearly an insignia on the mercenaries' armor. It is burned into my mind, but all these years, I have not been free to investigate it.
Now that I am safe, I will focus on getting well and hunt down that symbol.
Thanks, Jhaka.
Thank you again for rescuing this one. You have a good heart. Jhaka can tell. And Ember would not be with you if she did not fully trust you.
Her trust is a hard thing to earn. You are quite special indeed, and this one is thankful for you.
What will you do now that you're free?
Ah, it is good for Jhaka to even think of this. Many days were full of despair and I did not wish to think of the future.
First, I will get far away from this place. I will get healthy again and I will help Ember. We will find lost friends.
How did you end up separated from Silverslip and Song?
I saw both my friends accosted, then it went dark. When I came to, I could hear Song weeping.
After that, there was magic sleep, I think. When it wore off, I was in the belly of a stinking Dark Elf boat.
I'm sorry that happened to you, Jhaka.
You are kind, friend of Ember. I am at ease now I see Ember and now that I have my freedom back.
Jhaka will recover and see what other adventures Jone and Jode have in store.

After you talked to Ember they will talk:

Jhaka: "Ember, you've grown so much. This one is so grateful to see how strong you've become."
Ember: "Oh, you big lug, I missed you. I swore I would find you no matter what it took, even if the two moons fell from the sky."
Jhaka: "Thank you, little sister. You have found me, so be at peace. Next, we will find Silverslip and Song."'

If you talk to him immediately after finishing the quest:

This one's lungs are not as strong as they used to be, but do not fret. Once Jhaka has had a hot meal, a warm bed and a bit of rest, things will be better.

Cold Blood, Old Pain[edit]

Jhaka has informed Ember that he may have a lead on the mercenaries who abducted Silverslip and Song. He asked you and Ember to meet him in Marbruk. He will be meditating outside of the Outlaws Refugee, dressed in new clothes:

Ember: "There he is, the lazy lump."
Jhaka: "You are predictable, Ember. I knew you would not wait for me to write again."
Ember: "What can I say? I haven't changed a bit. Talk to our friend here about what you found out. I'm going to watch our backs."

Speaking to him to hear the news about the mercenaries:

"It is good to see you again, cherished friend. Because of you and Ember, this one has been allowed to rest and recover here in Marbruk. Jhaka feels strong once more.
This one assumes you are here about the information about the mercenaries"
Ember said you have a lead about the mercenaries who kidnapped you.
"Indeed. They were called Kestrin's Blades. Curiously, they disbanded sometime not long after we were accosted by them in Skywatch.
Though they no longer operate, this one found the name of one of their captains, Guruz."
What can you tell me about Guruz?
"Not very much, sadly. But this one does know he currently lives near Stonetooth Fortress, in Betnikh. If he was a captain of the Kestrin Blades, he may know where they took Silverslip and Song. And why.
This one is hopeful."
Ember and I will head to Betnikh and look for Guruz.
"This one hopes you find more answers in Betnikh. Speak to Guruz, see what he can tell you.
And take care of Ember. The responsibility of such a task wears on her, Jhaka can tell. Make sure he does not whittle herself down to nothing."
Did you have any trouble getting out of Vvardenfell?
"No. Even after all this time, this one still remembers how to sneak about and move unnoticed. I traveled in darkness and with the gold Ember provided, eventually bought passage on a boat to Skywatch.
I found Brisha and eventually, he sent me here."
Why here?
"Without the others, Skywatch did not feel the same to Jhaka. Bad memories, perhaps. But with coin and some easy work, I can stay warm and eat regularly here.
I had time to search for information about the mercenaries. This one hopes it is helpful."
Ember and I will investigate.

Before you set off to Betnikh:

Ember: "Are you safe here, in Marbruk, Jhaka? Do you have a place to stay?"
Jhaka: "You need not worry so much, little sister. You'll end up with even more white hair. Jhaka is fine."

Green with Envy[edit]

After finding out that Song's family kidnapped her for the nefarious purpose of using her lifeforce for their search of power. Jhaka and Silverslip still followed you and Ember to rescue Song despite Ember's request to have them stay put. Jhaka will appear after you find out that Song is being kept at Motalion Necropolis:

Jhaka: "Friends! Did you find anything?"
Ember: "Ah, I was wondering when we'd see you, big guy."

You can speak to him:

"This one let loose and ran through the sands. It felt good.
Did you find anything in this place? Silverslip mentioned something about the Emerald Eye. But Song is not here."
We found out the Emerald Eye is keeping Song at a place called Motalion Necropolis.
"This is good, yes? You are close to finding her then. Jhaka is worried for gentle Song.
This one hopes you will find answers in Motalion Necropolis."
Is Silverslip close by?
"She needed to…feed. She will catch up with this one shortly.
This one senses her worry. Silverslip tries to hide it, but this one knows her too well. She is restless and will remain that way until Song is found."
It may be dangerous.
"Oh, do not worry. Jhaka is not recovered enough to do any real combat—Silverslip has already told me we must stay out of your way. We will leave any fighting to you and Ember. You are both very capable.
But we will be close should you need us."
Ember and I are heading to Motalion Necropolis. (Ends conversation)

After speaking to him and going to the necropolis:

Jhaka: "Silverslip will be along soon. We will follow you to this Necropolis place. Be careful, both of you."

Speaking to him again:

"Go. Find out little Song."

Once you destroy the Emerald Eye Relic, Song will be free. Ember will check up on her, but will soon be accompanied by the arrival of Jhaka and Silverslip:

Ember: "Song? Are you all right?"

<Jhaka will rush through the door>

Jhaka: "We heard fighting and could not help ourselves. Is everyone safe?"
Song: "Ember? Jhaka? You're alive? How are you here?"

<Silverslip makes her entrance with her vampiric powers>

Silverslip: "Don't forget about me, precious."

Speaking to him before Song:

"Apologies for our late arrival. Silverslip assured this one that you and Ember could rescue Song without our help.
It is a joy to see her alive. She has endured horrors, and yet she still stands. Her strength is resplendent."

After speaking to Song and before you speak to Ember:

"This one believes Ember wishes to speak with you. Likely, she wants to thank you for helping bring us all together. Jhaka wants to thank you as well, but there are no words that properly convey his gratitude."

If you exit out of the conversation with Ember and before you complete the quest, he will say:

"To see Silverslip's wry smile again, Song's soft face, and of course Ember's eye, alight with mischief and joy as ever—Jhaka's heart is very full."

After the end of the quest, he expresses his gratitude for reuniting everyone:

"You and Ember have returned the brightness of the moons to Jhaka's eyes. We four have been reunited against all odds. In the past years, huddled in pain or fear, this one nearly lost hope.
But you ensured we may all find joy once again. Thank you."
