Consecrate a dishonored woman's remains
Honorless criminals are left in the Tears of the Dishonored. Darius begged me to find the remains of his wife, Zariya, and consecrate them as he believes she was innocent.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Talk to Darius.
  2. Find Zariya's body.
  3. Recover the stolen gems.
  4. Consecrate Zariya's remains.
  5. Return to Darius.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

You will meet Darius just outside Tears of the Dishonored. He will ask you to meet him at the gates: he wants to properly consecrate his wife, Zariya, whose body was sent there after she was executed for a crime she did not commit. He does not have the proof of her innocence. She sold some goods for her criminal brother on the condition that he would find honest work. Soon, her brother's friends found Zariya and threatened her with bodily harm if she would not fence more stuff for them. She turned the gang in, but they falsely implicated her in their own crimes, and she was executed along with them for the theft of some jewels. You will know her body by the wooden wedding ring she wears.

You'll have to dodge or kill a number of hags and harpies in this area to search for Zariya's body. It's actually just over by the skyshard. When you examine her body, her spirit appears. She asks you not to consecrate her just yet, as she's not ready to go to the Far Shores. Zariya explains that the criminals had actually swallowed the jewels that they subsequently claimed she had hidden or sold for them. Since they've decomposed, the jewels have been exposed. She asks you to take them back to her husband so she can not only be consecrated, but exonerated. If you have the Persuasion perk from the Mages Guild skill line, you can skip doing this and just consecrate her corpse.

As you find the corpses of each of the three criminals, Zariya's ghost will call them out for their misdeeds, and you'll have to fight and kill the ghosts one at a time. Zariya's brother, Thadret (located straight west of Zariya's corpse), has less health than the other two, but will summon an undead ally to help him out in the fight. Hillid the Blade (located north of Thadret's corpse) and Islaif the Highwayman (located south of Thadret's corpse) are simple melee fighters. Try not to approach any harpies while you're fighting the ghosts unless you can deal with them joining in the fight. Kill the ghosts, search the bodies and find the jewels.

Once you have all the jewels, head back to Zariya's corpse, talk to her ghost one final time and consecrate the body with the funerary oils. Bring the news—and the jewels—back to Darius at the gate leading into of the valley. He will return the jewels to their owners and exonerate his wife so that he can legally collect and bury her body in consecrated ground.

Notes[edit]

  • The corpses and skeleton remains won't appear in the location before starting the quest and reaching the related objective.

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
