Quest-Related Events[edit]

While in Deepscorn Hollow, you can encounter and rescue Tenarei Vels. She has knowledge of a secret passage leading to the Fane of Scorn, an inner sanctum where the cult's leader Lalais resides. Exploring the Deepscorn Caves, you soon reach an apparent dead end. However, an imprisoned vampire is also found in the room. If you speak with Tenarei, she thinks there may be a secret door and suggests asking the vampire about it. Said vampire chimes in:

Greywyn Blenwyth: "Your comrade is correct. There's a hidden door."

As you approach the vampire's cell, he studies you and comments:

Greywyn Blenwyth: "You're not part of this cult, are you? In fact, you appear to be … lost."

Talk with Greywyn Blenwyth and ask him about your quarry:

After talking to Tenarei Vels:
Before talking to Tenarei Vels:
"Your Dark Elf friend watches me with no small amount of suspicion. Perfectly understandable, but I am not a slave to my hunger.
Why are you wandering around Deepscorn Hollow, anyway? The Daughter of Sithis is fond of sacrificing strangers."
"Be careful … I might bite. Ha!
I can see that your friend there doesn't know what to make of me. Go on, talk things over with her. I am a conundrum, aren't I?"
(?)
We're searching for a Breton named Quistley Silvelle.
"I have heard the name. The Daughter of Sithis herself has him.
These miserable Sithis … pretenders. I can show you the passage you seek. I'll consider it payback for the way they locked me up."
That would be helpful.
"They hid the switch for a secret door under that crate over there, by the wall. Clever, if one is a child.
I cannot believe I thought these weak-minded fools might have a genuine insight into the dark mysteries of Sithis."
Thank you for your help. (Progresses the Quest)
Tell me more about the Daughter of Sithis.
"Lalais is a noble from Leyawiin who made a game of dabbling in dark lore. As I understand it, she found this place and managed to wake a presence that had been sleeping here for ages.
She surrendered to the darkness eagerly. I doubt that it cared."
What about all the socialites who follow her?
"Fools and dilettantes bewitched by the Daughter's powers. They believe she is the living embodiment of Sithis's dark will, servant of an ancient power.
But the only power she serves is her own avarice and lust. Like any greedy mortal."

If you speak with Greywyn again afterwards:

"Give Lalais my regards when you see her. I would want the Daughter of Sithis to know that I've been thinking of her."

Once you reveal the lever to the hidden door, Greywyn will call out to you:

Greywyn Blenwyth: "Wait! Would you do me a favor in return?"

You have the option of hearing him out before leaving:

"Perhaps, before you rush off, you might unlock this cell? A favor in return for my showing you the switch?
Let me again assure you, I am in control of my urges. I shall not harm you."
First tell me how you wound up in that cell.
"I came here hoping the temple held answers about my condition. But the cultists discovered me as I fed upon an unwary noble from Gideon. The Daughter of Sithis was intrigued, but when she realized I had not yet mastered my powers, she locked me away."
Why don't you just turn to mist?
"Yes, that would be an elegant solution to my predicament. I'm afraid that I'm rather new to this … state of being. I haven't figured out that trick yet."
How do I know you won't attack us?
"I am still capable of gratitude, stranger. I just want to be free of this place. I came here expecting something quite different."
I don't trust you. You'd better stay there for now.
Fine. I'll let you out.

If you refused to open the cell door, he will be annoyed:

Greywyn Blenwyth: "Bah. I shall remember this."

Trying to speak with him afterwards, he will have nothing to say to you:

"I believe our business has been concluded. Away with you."

Return to the area after making this choice, he will no longer be in the cell.

If you agreed to free him, you can unlock the door and he will walk out while commenting:

Greywyn Blenwyth: "Thank you. Perhaps the friend you seek might still be alive."

Talking with Greywyn, he will thank you and give a warning:

"You have my gratitude. I gave you my word I would not harm you or your friend, and I will keep it.
Beware the Daughter of Sithis. The thing she calls her brother is a flesh atronach."
