General Malgoth

General Malgoth was a fierce Bosmer warrior and leader of the Blackroot Clan. In his years, he destroyed multiple clans in his quest for glory. After his successful invasion of Dread Vullain, he and his men fell sick after they feasted on the poisoned bodies of those they slain. He later went to a nearby nereid temple to request an antidote but was turned down. He died inside and his body is still located there to this day.

Quest-Related Events[edit]

He will be introduced at the third vision:

Narwin: "That's the last of them, General. The village is clear."
General Malgoth: "An easy victory! Vullain is the first to fall, but there will be more."
General Malgoth: "Now, per the Meat Mandate, let us feast on the fallen."
General Malgoth: "Prepare the cave temple! It's a suitable place for a celebration."

At the fourth vision, it will be revealed that Elphirion has intentionally poisoned her fellow villagers to spite the Blackroot soldiers:

Narwin: "General Malgoth, the troops … half of them are dead! The other half …."
General Malgoth: "Are dying, including us. This is poison. The villagers poisoned themselves to poison us."
Narwin: "What do you mean?"
General Malgoth: "The Meat Mandate you idiot! Elphirion knew she couldn't win on the field, but she'll still manage victory. To the nereid temple. Perhaps we can beg a cure."

At the fifth and final vision, he will mention that he is back from the dead and has been called up to fight the Dominion:

General Malgoth: "Rise my soldiers. Back to your bodies, and take up arms."
Narwin: "Why do you command us from the Ooze?"
General Malgoth: "A powerful one, unknown to me, has stolen my bow."
General Malgoth: "It invoked the Right of Theft, and commanded we march against the Dominion."
Narwin: "By your command …."

Before speaking to Indaenir:

"Something's changed. I do not understand what is going on here."

Speaking to him after Indaenir:

"So it's true then? You have retrieved my bow from the Shade?"
I have, and I invoke the Right of Theft.
"My father told me, "You will find your bow in an animal's bone. Before it's even carved, you will see it." Mammoth's tusk―extraordinarily difficult to make a good bow out of―but it was just like he said. I saw it and I knew.
What do you want?"
I want your army to march on Naemon in the name of the Dominion.
"My army is loyal even deep within death, deep within the Ooze. They will do as I ask, and if I am asked to march on Naemon, then that is what we will do."
Good. Then I'll count on your support.
I release you and your army from service. You may leave.
"You want …. I've misheard you. I thought you said "leave." But we don't deserve rest. Not after what happened here. We belong to the Ooze."
No. It's better you rest now.

An alternate response to having him march on Naemon will be:

"My army is loyal even deep within death, deep within the Ooze. They would march against the sun if I commanded it. They will march against Naemon."

Deprecated[edit]

His response to you telling him that you're releasing him and his army from their service was once as follows:

"Heh. Death plays tricks. I thought you said "leave." But that's not possible. We don't deserve rest. Not after what happened here. The Ooze is the only fitting place for us."

It was changed after a Patch.
