Dialogue[edit]

He can be found begging in the town square, and will ask for coin if you speak with him.

"Spare some gold for a worker down on his luck?"
Why should I give you any gold?
"Do you think I'd rather beg than work? But work for a dust-sweep isn't as common as it used to be. And a man's got to do what he can. I have a family to feed, after all."
Why can't you find work?
"Who can say? What with this civil war and all, maybe people don't care as much about cleanliness as they used to.
I'm just trying to make ends meet, and economics was never my strong point."
Here's some gold for your family. [Low leveled gold]
"Bless you and bless this glinting gift. Tonight I will turn this clanking metal into bread and turnips for my family's supper. A feat greater than the most talented alchemist can conjure, eh?"

Quest Related Events[edit]

If you wait and see who takes the coin from the fountain that Guitaut placed there, you will see Edouard take the coin. Approach him and he'll say:

"Spare some gold for a worker down on his luck?"
I saw you take that coin the courier dropped. What's going on?

If you only witnessed Edouard take the coin, he'll say:

"I saw him throw a coin in the fountain and took it before someone else did. If you want to know what I'm going to do with the coin, I'll probably use it to buy a heel of bread.
Speaking of coins, I could use more. If you can spare them."

If you discovered information about the coin, he'll say:

"What? An informer? Me? No, no. I'm a simple dust-sweep begging for spare gold, nothing more.
On the other hand, if you have the gold, I'll be whatever you want me to be."
It appears that you're an informer for House Montclair.
"What? An informer? Me?…" <repeats from above>
