I met a commoner named Vandoril in Alinor who's had troubling dreams about the city of Cloudrest. He's requested I seek out his mother Belarin and ensure her safety.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Speak to Vandoril in Alinor.
  2. Speak with Belarin inside Cloudrest.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

As you explore Alinor, you may come across a High Elf sitting on a planter. His name is Vandoril, and his is worried about his mother in Cloudrest.

"You have the look of a traveler. Tell me, have you heard news of Cloudrest? The city within the mountains of Eton Nir?
My mother is there, and I feel she may be in danger."
Why do you believe that?
"Bad dreams. A great darkness, devouring Cloudrest as it filled the streets.
My mother's last letter spoke of the Welkynars capturing the Sea Sload Z'Maja, just a few days ago. If there's anything powerful enough to destroy a city, it's a Sload."
So you believe this Sload may have attacked Cloudrest.
"Yes, I'm afraid I do. Could you travel to Cloudrest and seek out my mother, Belarin?
I must warn you though, should my dreams be true, such a journey may come at great risk. You'll want to gather many allies by your side before heading off."
I'll go to Cloudrest and seek out your mother, Belarin.

Make your way to Cloudrest, which is located in the center of the map, but Vandoril will allow you to take a cart in Alinor's outskirts as a means of direct transport. You will need to enter the trial and speak with Belarin to complete the quest. She is located in the center of the village. Here you will also be able to pick up the quest Woe of the Welkynars, but Cloudrest cannot be tackled alone and you will need to find a trial group to continue on any deeper.

"I'm not sure what's brought you to Cloudrest, but I have to recommend you turn back. The city is far too dangerous to enter. I'm busy enough as it is without more souls getting injured."
Your son Vandoril asked me to travel here. He believed you were in danger.
"Vandoril and his dreams again, is it? Well, he was right as usual.
A Sea Sload has attacked the city. Welkynar Olorime was able to rescue many, but I'm afraid not everyone is fit enough to evacuate. I must remain until the injured are cared for."
Is there anything I can do to help?
"I'd speak to Olorime, if you wish to help. She may have a task for you.
Don't worry about my son. I'll send a message with the next mer to evacuate. And here's a little something for your troubles, of course."

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
