Captain Trelano

Captain Trelano is a High Elf who led the Fists of Thalmor investigating Wilding Run. After an attack by Daedra and undead zombies, Gamekeeper Ozzai ensnared his mind and trapped it in The Hunting Grounds, where she is torturing him to make him into a mindless servant of Hircine.

Quest-Related Events[edit]

When you first speak to him, his consciousness will already be in the Hunting Grounds, causing a notice to appear.

<The captain doesn't seem to notice you. He's staring intently at something behind you.>

Later on, when Gamekeeper Ozzai is torturing him, he may say the following things:

Captain Trelano: "No! No! Lieutenant Yvondir!"
Captain Trelano: "No! Not again! Have mercy, I can't … I can't remember!"
Captain Trelano: "… and they burned! The fire was so hot, I couldn't save them!"
Captain Trelano: "I can't … not strong enough!"
Captain Trelano: "… so many of them! We couldn't … get away!"

Once he is freed and you go through the portal, speak to him near the Shrine of Hircine and talk to him to finish the quest:

"Where am I? The attack … the lieutenant was injured. I pulled him into a bush to hide.
After that … voices, dead ones! I struck at them … the lieutenant! He isn't …?
Alive, last I saw, and with your scout. Goodbye.
"My scout? Corporal Brelinith! Then Sergeant Dagla may still be alive! She'd be camped at our fallback position.
I must go to them. Thank you for all you've done! I'd be dead if you hadn't come!"

Finish the conversation and the corporal will come running up:

Corporal Brelinith: "Captain! Blessed Y'ffre, I found you."
Captain Trelano: "Give me a moment … to get my bearings. Let's go over events on the way back."

If you speak to him after the quest, he says:

"Never thought I'd say it, but I'll be glad to strike a living enemy again.
I've had enough of undead for one day. Maybe for a lifetime!"

If you speak to him back at the camp, he will have a quill and clipboard in hand and say:

"I'm drafting a report for command. I hope you don't mind accolades.
If it was up to me, you'd get the biggest damn medal they'd make!"

Notes[edit]

  • When first meeting him, his dialogue box states he is staring at something behind you when he is instead staring at the shade in front of him.
  • When he is in the Hunting Grounds, he will be wearing all his armor besides his helmet.
