Shadows in the Swamp[edit]

The lieutenant will be locked up in a cage in the village, with the inhabitants threatening him. Before you start the quest, he will say:

"You need to convince them to let me go, please. Our people have done nothing to them, I swear it."

When you speak to him, he will be glad to see you:

If you're not an Argonian:
"Dibella's sacred buttocks! Am I glad to see someone that's not a part of this tribe. Maybe you can do something.
I've tried telling these lizards that my soldiers have nothing to do with their disappearing people, but they won't listen!"
If you're an Argonian:
"Ugh, not another one. Look, I already told you ….
Oh, wait, you're not from this tribe, are you? Thank the Divines! I've tried telling these others that my brigadines have nothing to do with their disappearing people, but they won't listen!"
You can talk to me now. What's going on here?
"I'm an officer in Leyawiin's Ivory Brigade. We've been trying to expand trade routes out here, but we're not kidnapping people! My brigadines are missing, too.
I was pursuing a lead to find them when I got ambushed and thrown in this cage!"
What lead?
"I was investigating the great number of beasts that have started congregating by the water's edge. It's like they've taken over!
Nothing about it seems natural. My theory is that those monsters are responsible for our missing people."
How so?
"They're vicious, and the sheer number of them all at once is undoubtedly lethal.
But my commander's skeptical. He thinks the Argonians are retaliating for us getting too close to their territory. And if he gets wind of this, he'll respond in kind."

If you speak to him again before speaking to Olik:

"Go check the water for yourself. There's something going on in this accursed swamp and it's not our doing. Everyone is just too busy fighting to see it."

After Heem-Jas delivers the news of the Imperial and Argonian bodies found, before you speak to Naheesh Nurwul, you can talk to the lieutenant:

"If only they'd listen to me! I need to get out of here, my people are obviously in danger as well."

Viria will feel vindicated from the news of an Argonian causing the trouble once you speak to him about persuading his fellow soldiers to help out:

"Gods, this can't be happening."
"I heard what was discussed. I can hardly believe it.
They were so quick to pin the blame on us, and the whole time, it was one of their own people? I suppose it doesn't matter now. We've all lost friends. What we need to do is fix this."
Do you think your people would be willing to help the Argonians enter the xanmeer?
"The Ivory Brigade is far from petty. I'm sure there will be some who are unhappy about this, but even they will understand the need to work together in order to stop this.
I'll speak to my commander, if I'm free to go. I'm sure I can convince him."
The Argonians will free you. Go speak to your captain.

Speaking to Viria before you go to the xanmeer:

"I'll go talk to my commander. Once we put an end to this threat, then we can turn our attention to improving this relationship between our people."

Viria and Naheesh will arrive with the rest of the Ivory Brigade to help with the out-of-control relic:

Naheesh Nurwul: "Help is here, my friend. Let us begin."
Olik: "Naheesh Nurwul! And the Imperials? I am sorry, this is my fault."
Brigadine Lieutenant Viria: "The time for blame can come later. We're here to help."

Speaking to Viria before you ask Naheesh about the plan:

"Naheesh Nurwul has a plan that will take all of us. Speak to her, she can explain it to you in better detail."

When you return to the village, you will witness the lieutenant establishing a friendship with the tribe from the result of cooperating to put to an end to the lures:

Naheesh Nurwul: "You have my thanks, lieutenant, as well as my tribe's friendship."
Brigadine Lieutenant Viria: "Thank you. I assure you, we will do everything in our power to make sure this is the start of a prosperous friendship between our people."
Heem-Jas: "A great success! We are victorious and strong and all mostly intact!"

You can speak to him before you relay the success of disabling the lures in the xanmeer to Naheesh:

"Ah, glad to see you made it out safely.
Please, we can speak after you talk to Naheesh Nurwul. I know she wishes to thank you."

After the completion of the quest, Viria will acknowledge the Imperials are responsible for the distrust of the Argonians:

"Thank you for your part in this. Our intention was never to frighten the citizens here. But we did not listen to them when they expressed their concerns. We simply went about our business.
This is just as much our fault."
What will you do now?
"My commander asked me to be the official liaison between the Ivory Brigade and these Argonians. I hope to keep our alliance intact, and perhaps even turn it into a friendship.
It'll take some doing, but I'm confident we're off to a good start."
What do the rest of your soldiers think?
"Opinions differ, but they are all honorable. They will hold up this alliance, even if they are still mourning those we lost. Time will heal that pain and even those who protest the loudest will see that peace is the right answer."

Pyre of Ambition[edit]

If you've completed Shadows in the Swamp, you can ask him to bring his soldiers to Fort Redmane.

"You're back? We're still cleaning up after the last time you were here. Has something happened?"
The Black Fin Legion needs help defending Fort Redmane against the Order of the Waking Flame.
"Councilor Vandacia's cult? Yes, I read the reports sent from Leyawiin. I only met the man once. I didn't like him.
I can't imagine what he wants with that old ruin, but you wouldn't be here if it wasn't important. Count us in."
Thank you, lieutenant.
"We owe you a debt for your help with the Argonians. I'm grateful for the chance to pay it back.
I'll gather my brigadines and head out at once. See you at Fort Redmane."

If you speak to him again, he'll say:

"You helped us keep peace with the Argonians, so we'll stand with you. You can count on me and my brigadines."

He repeats the line above if you speak with him at the camp in front of Fort Redmane. He's standing in the tent that contains A Legionary's History of Fort Redmane.

Lieutenant Viria and four Hutan-Tzel Allies will take your place in the courtyard when you're instructed to meet Eveli in the guardhouse.

Brigadine Lieutenant Viria: "Heard you might need a little help in here!"

Heroes of Blackwood[edit]

Viria and Heem-Jas will be present for the ceremony in Gideon if you've completed Shadows in the Swamp.

"A pleasure to see you again. Many brigadines, myself included, have been quite impressed with the stories we've heard of your exploits. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, given what you did for us at Hutan-Tzel."
