Friendly after quest?[edit]

I've never taken the time to notice/remember, but do the agents become friendly after the main quest is finished (even the MD class ones like Styrbjorn)?--Skober 07:00, 11 May 2007 (EDT)

Their disposition modifiers are set back to 0 after the main quest; the Blades are set to not to hate Mythic Dawn any more; and, Styrbjorn is disabled. So all Mythic Dawn attacks should stop. --NepheleTalk 12:20, 11 May 2007 (EDT)
By "disabled" do you mean he becomes friendly or does he just "disappear"? (I never notice Styrbjorn untill the main quest - of course I don't spend much time at the All Saints Inn) The main reason I'm asking is that I don't want to kill any NPC's I don't need to.--Skober 04:30, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
He disappears. I've added to Styrbjorn's page to explain that he doesn't appear (get enabled) until you're well into the main quest and then afterwards he vanishes. --NepheleTalk 12:08, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
So, in conclusion... any character who's class is "Mythic Dawn member" will appear and then (if not killed) dissappear during/after the main quest??--Skober 14:43, 16 May 2007 (EDT)
Actually, Styrbjorn is special. He's the only person who gets explicitly enabled and disabled at the same time that the disposition of all the other Mythic Dawn people gets altered. However, most of the other people who have a Mythic Dawn-related class (and are not just members of the Mythic Dawn faction) are quest-related people who get enabled as part of a specific quest (e.g., Jearl only gets enabled at the start of the Spies quest; before that she does not exist in the game) and generally have to be killed to complete the quest. So basically Astav Wirich, Harrow, Jearl, Raven Camoran, Ruma Camoran, and Saveri Faram will all appear and then be killed/disabled at some point.
The one exception I can see is Marguerite Diel who is a Mythic Dawn Adept but otherwise is a regular NPC: she exists for entire game and is never made to artificially appear or disappear. If you can keep her alive while you're doing the main quest she would presumably go back to being a normal, non-murderous citizen after the main quest is done.
Also, if you're really trying to keep the death count down, it may be possible to keep Harrow alive. Of that list, he's the only one without any scripting to ensure his death/disappearance, and who also doesn't seem to have any events (such as a required quest update) triggered by his death. Of course, if you don't kill him you'll have a pretty hard time getting your loot (especially your gold) back from him. --NepheleTalk 15:41, 16 May 2007 (EDT)

Effects of Mythic Dawn Faction[edit]

What happens if you head to Cloud Ruler Temple while still (at least nominally) a member of the Mythic Dawn? --66.23.133.52 19:47, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

You'd probably be attacked by all the Blades. But you can't really try it, because as long as you are a member of the Mythic Dawn you can't get out of Dagon Shrine. --NepheleTalk 23:12, 20 May 2007 (EDT)
The faction is also removed from the list in your menu after you leave the shrine (after taking the book) so its (pretty much) impossible--Skober 04:00, 24 May 2007 (EDT)
But you can get to Cloud Ruler. If it is possible to exit just after talking to the Doorkeeper and have the sleeper agents speak to you as a faction member (an exploit detailed in the article), then it's possible to get to Cloud Ruler. Robed Dawnbringer 11:40, 20 January 2008 (EST)
You don't get attacked by the blades, their dispostion just drops to zero. 71.59.113.183 20:20, 12 July 2008 (EDT) 18:21, 12 July

Mythic Dawn Armor[edit]

There seems to be no mention at all of the Mythic Dawn armor. I know some people will want to know how to obtain it, or whether it is actually possible to obtain it in the first place. Chromeballz 00:50, 20 September 2007 (EDT)

That is because there is no Mythic Dawn armor; they conjure armor, rather than wear a permanent set. SubtleCynicism 01:00, 20 September 2007 (EDT)
The codes for the lesser power to summon the armor (including a bound weapon) are:
  • 0003E91B
  • 000CA109
The codes for the armor itself is:
  • 00033525 (armor)
  • 00051B47 (helmet)
You can't obtain either through normal play. Not that you'd want to anyway; it's halfway between iron and steel armor, and it has neither a world model nor an inventory icon. That means it won't appear in your inventory, wearing it will make your arms disappear when you switch to first person view and exploiting the bound items glitch will create giant yellow exclamation marks. --Saruuk 01:27, 20 September 2007 (EDT)
It's a shame they don't have just a -bit- more in the Mythic Dawn Storyline. I'd have liked to see it possible to get this spell in-game (even if it isn't ideal). I was wondering the same thing about obtaining the armor/weapon spell for it because i thought it would make for a unique and interesting playstyle (conjuring full sets of armor/weapons for every fight would be rather expensive). () I got the lesser power to summon mythic dawn field equipment as I like to call it, and I crashed after summoning it! Why does it happen? — Unsigned comment by 137.147.138.68 (talk) at 11:15 on 13 April 2013

Sleeper Agents[edit]

A clarification can be made in the entry regarding charm/cham/speech with Mythic Dawn members (post Dagon Shrine). If a character had previously raised any of these Agent's disp. to 100 (or possibly less) they will not attack in the first place. When re-engaged in conversation after the quest, the Agent's disposition is unsurprisingly low, but can be increased again normally. I would add:

"The Mythic Dawn agents attack due to a massive faction-wide decrease in disposition when you steal the Mysterium Xarxes. ***If an agent already had a 100 disposition toward you, it will not drop below 1, and they can still be engaged in conversation normally. Otherwise, u***sing a combination..."---FromHereOn 17:51, 28 November 2007 (EST)

Thanks for the suggestion. In future, feel free to directly edit the article yourself (if nothing else, it gets the job done more quickly than waiting for someone else to have a chance to look into it!) --NepheleTalk 01:58, 6 December 2007 (EST)

Hans?[edit]

Why is Hans listed as a fighter guild's member in the list when he's acutally working at the castle, and his profile has no Fighter Guild membership? — Unsigned comment by 75.167.37.75 (talk) at 08:18 on 17 December 2007

Mythic Dawn exclamations for race/gender[edit]

I have confirmed that my character yells "For Lord Dagon!" when doing power attacks (as well as the other noted shouts) as an initiate of the cult, to my unfailing amusement. My character is Breton / Male. Sorlac 02:02, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Alas, the question at hand isn't whether a male Breton PC will make those sounds. There are male Breton Mythic Dawn NPCs in the game, after all. The question is whether or not the same trick can be duplicated with an Orc, Argonian, Khajiit, or female Breton character. There are no such NPCs matching those races or genders who are members of the Mythic Dawn, so will a player's character of those same races/gender have to voice file to scream "For Lord Dagon!" ? —Dark Spark 03:18, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Golden Dawn[edit]

(moved from the article)

The name "Mythic Dawn" may be a reference to the Golden Dawn, a cult from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Apart from the word "Dawn" appearing in both names, what is the basis for this? Unless I missed something in the WP article, I don't see the Golden Dawn calling down a Daedric Prince to engulf Earth. Really... can we keep the links at least vaguely plausible? –rpehTCE 17:20, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Actually I studied occult religion, specifically Israel Regardie and the order of the golden dawn, for 3 years. I stumbled across this game recently and immediately noticed the mythic dawn to parallel the former. The golden dawn is founded on ceremonial magic and summoning mystical spirits; also, the heremetic order is known to be one of the most absolute secret societies since the recourcians, which many believe never existed outside of astral realms. Also, the golden dawn is based on a type of Jewish mysticism called Kabbalah, which has 10 gods or personified elements of the godhead, 9 ruling over the last, our earth. May make sense why the hierarchy of gods in this game are constantly referred to as 'the nine'. I'm well versed in modern occultism and after playing this game, it seems like a writer for Bethesda is too. For the reasons listed above, and many that aren't, this is by far the best written game I have ever played, it prints an occult lesson into the minds of those who play, so any of you reading this who have beaten the game, you know a hell of a lot more about esoteric/heremetic occultism than you likely did before! -— Unsigned comment by 166.205.8.19 (talk) at 22:46 on 21 June 2011
I'm still not seeing any direct connection to the Golden Dawn cult. I believe the name "Mythic Dawn" comes from the group's goal of bringing about a new Mythic Era or Dawn Era. Lump the two ages together and voilà. --Legoless 21:53, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

The Answer![edit]

Ok, this is the answer that we were all waiting for. I have figured out who exclaims "For lord Dagon!" or "Die! Unbeliever!" when you do a power attack. Here is the list. NOTE: ANYBODY THAT DOESN'T SCREAM IT, IT JUST HAS THEM SAY NOTHING AT ALL. JUST A VOICELESS POWER ATTACK Tested this myself. Enjoy!--Arch-Mage Matt 18:04, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

How to join before/after Dagon Shrine[edit]

Bring up the console and reference yourself. Then type: SetFactionRank 00029f82 0 to join as an initiate or SetFactionRank 00029f82 1 to join as an acolyte. Your rank has no effect other than as a title. You should now see your rank in the factions screen. Everyone in the Blades (-100) or Weynon Priory (-40) will hate you, but all the Mythic Dawn members will love you (+100). They will greet you with the standard "Dawn is breaking" and "Greet the new day", "For Lord Dagon!" and "Die unbeliever!" when attacking and "Paradise awaits me" when injured. You can also do the same command, but instead of referencing yourself you can click on other NPCs. The same disposition effects apply. Note that for Khajits, Argonians and male Redguards the Mythic Dawn voices will only be on subtitles, no voice or lip sync.

This, of course, doesn't change much. Most Mythic Dawn members also have the trademark bound armour, which they activate on seeing an enemy. They get this, and a bound mace or sword, through two lesser powers, named 'Mythic Dawn Bound Armor and Mace' and 'Mythic Dawn Bound Armor and Sword'. If an NPC has one of these powers but no armor equipped, they will use it upon sighting an enemy, even if they are not in the Mythic Dawn faction.

When referencing an actor: To add the mace power, use: AddSpell 00022b37 To add the sword power, use: AddSpell 00097c1f

Keep in mind that these powers last for 1000 seconds, which in Cyrodiil lasts for 17 hours. You can get rid of the weapon by sheathing it, but the armour cannot be unequipped. If you want some unbound armour, use this when referencing yourself: AddItem 00022B37 1 for the armor (one piece, raiment style) AddItem 00097c1f 1 for the helmet

The actual statistics for the armour is pretty good. The helmet is between Orcish and Ebony, with 6 base armour and 750 health. The rest is the same as an unenchanted Raiment of Valor with 1500 health, beaten only by Daedric armour.

The sort of 'bug' is that it wasn't designed to be used in by the player, so you won't be able to see your hands while wearing it in first person.

Cleanup tag[edit]

I think the "Joining Faction" and "Members" sections are well covered due to the links on the page giving all the information about the topics. Should this be removed from the cleanup tag, or should some information from the mentioned pages be transferred to the article?--Corevette789 20:40, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I agree with both. The article is well enough as it is now but I also think that it couldn't harm to expand those sections a little bit instead of simply adding a link (and funnily enough, one of the linked pages also has a cleanup tag, meaning that neither of them are "perfect" yet). The main reason for which I changed to a cleanup tag is because Itachi marked it as a stub, when there's really not much information to add to make the article qualify as a stub. --S'drassa T2M 20:46, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Cleaned up Joining Faction?[edit]

I've made some changes to the Joining the Faction section and if anybody thinks that it can be removed from the cleanup tag or wants to change more of the section feel free to do so. I may expand the Members section eventually when I figure out how. This is my first ever edit so please go easy on me! — Unsigned comment by Veckatimest (talkcontribs) on 12 May 2010

Can't leave Dagon Shrine?[edit]

Why can't you leave Dagon Shrine after becoming a member? (Timedragon1 16:19, 19 May 2011 (UTC))

I'm not sure if that's true as I've never tried to do this more then once but the main reason is to go on with the story I'd guess
IIRC you get a journal entry that says "I should not leave yet" Wolfy 16:20, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Because all exits are locked with "Needs a key" and you can only use the console commands to unlock them.

You CAN get Mythic Dawn Armor! (SPOILER ALERT)[edit]

You CAN get Mythic Dawn Armor! (SPOILER ALERT)
During the Mani Quest, when you follow Baurus to meet that Sponsor to get the book, and are attacked by the 3 Mythic Dawn Agents, kill them!
One of them has the armor for you to loot!
But keep in mind it is HEAVY, I think I remember it weighing 40 lbs! — Unsigned comment by 68.80.154.39 (talk) at 01:23 on 22 March 2019 (UTC)

I, a different person, have looted it in the Dagon Shrine part of the main quest instead, a little later.
It was probably from the guy who keeps all your items, but at least it's definitely somebody in the big fight in the actual shrine.
It weighs 40 lbs, gives 14 armor points, and has a code of ff00b4fe. 99.179.145.178 12:27, 9 May 2020 (GMT)
This sounds like modded behaviour, the armor is not marked as playable in the vanilla game. —Legoless (talk) 16:58, 9 May 2020 (GMT)
