Nudist[edit]

Methredhel likes being a nudist. I'm not sure if this is a bug. in 3 different games, she has at some point decided to stop wearing clothes. why??? anyone else experience this?

I have also experienced this. Methredhel also has a room mate who takes off her clothes. I broke into their house in a thieves guild quest to steal the diary off her and they were both walking around naked (except for default clothing). --Matthewest TCE 01:56, 18 April 2008 (EDT)
Seriously?!? An NPC's armor is destroyed and the only possible explanation is that she's supposed to be a lesbian?? I won't even start to guess at your explanation for all the naked male soldiers on the battlefield outside Bruma at the end of the Great Gate quest....
Trying to return to reality here: every NPC wearing armor in the game, male or female, will stop wearing his/her armor when the armor is destroyed. Just as the player's character can no longer wear a piece of armor once it is destroyed (health=0). Since they don't have other clothing in their inventory (and the AI doesn't force them to search for replacement clothing), the NPCs end up without any clothing. --NepheleTalk 02:34, 18 April 2008 (EDT)
Really? I walk around wearing broken armor almost all the time (I use stuff that looks good on me, not what is Good or has good health) and It stays on me. While I have seen NPC's w/o their armor on at weird times (a guard was doing his rounds dressed in his 'jammies') I've never seen an NPC remove their armor when it breaks (I even tried to do this to pickpocket armor off a certain character who never sleeps), and I've certainly not seen anyone naked who wasn't supposed to be. Is my game just different or what?
Okay I understand now Nephele. I forgot that that could be a possible explanation. But why is it most common with Methredhel and her room mate? And what would she have done to cause it? Can an NPC repair their own armor? Why do I see her take her armor on and off occasionally? --Matthewest TCE 03:11, 18 April 2008 (EDT)
Old question, but my guess on this is that they're both wearing weak, low-quality armor (Leather, the weakest in the game), and both have low Responsibility (as should be expected of anyone pursuing a career as a thief), which makes them break the law frequently (stealing food most likely), and thus get into fights with the guards on a regular basis. Methredhel is Essential up until a late in the Thieves Guild quest line, so she can't be killed, but all those fights with the (much more well-equipped) guards probably takes a toll on her armor fairly quickly. Blame the devs for not giving her backup clothing to wear when it breaks. --TheRealLurlock Talk 01:00, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
She DOES have backup clothing acually, huntsman Pants and Shirt. the Huntsman Shirt appears as a Bra sort of thing on Female characters (ooh la la) so you may have confused that as her haveing her shirt off. If she walks around without pants though, thats something odd. Lucky the Cat Guy 01:29, 7 August 2008 (EDT)
Methredhel is a nudist, she can be found with clothes on her posetion, however she "chooses" not to use them. We should add somthing to this effect on her npc page. — Unsigned comment by 219.89.216.153 (talk)
She is not a nudist, but is probably just bugged in some way. Several NPCs can be found walking around in their underwear on occasion (see Fadus Calidius for an example). When it is time to redo her page under the Oblivion NPC Redesign Project, this phenomenon will be examined in detail - and then the project members will decide whether or not it deserves a mention on her page. --Krusty 07:48, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Almost every other time I break into her house she's in her undies. If I talk to her she'll say "I'm in the middle of a... I'm busy. What do you want?". The best time was once with her room mate in bed, she was standing next to the bed looking at her room mate when I broke in, and she told me that.

May the best thief win...[edit]

How does Methredhel become a member of the thieves guild when you steal Amantius Allectus' book? --Matthewest TCE 22:50, 24 April 2008 (EDT)

If you failed to steal the diary, you're given a second chance by stealing the sword. So, if Methredel failed to steal the diary, then presumably she got that second chance. —Dark Spark 00:14, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

Can't find Methredhel in X360[edit]

I'm doing the Thieves Guild quests right now and I'm at the part where Methredhel is supposed to meet me and give me a note. My fence is already 836 gold, yet I still have the quest that I should get 500 gold and speak to S'krivva. I have just finished the Taking Care of Lex quest. S'krivva's door is locked 24/7. I had no pop-up message that someone wanted to find me. I tried raising my fence just a bit more to see if something would happen and nothing at all. Well, I found S'krivva in the inn. She says there are rumors the Gray Fox is looking for me and that she wants me to keep raising the fence. Not sure if that will work, or maybe I have to raise it to 1000? This site says I only need to raise it to 600 for Methredhel to contact me. Also, I "waited" more than 100 hours and she never came to see me. Maxxb117 03:47, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

It can be pretty hard to find her. Your best bet is to wait in the Imperial City. If she still doesn't come, load a previous save and start over. Something could have caused her to bug. --Elliot(T-C) 03:48, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
That really sucks since I only have one save and I waited 10 days for her... Maxxb117 04:09, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Issue resolved: I had to go wake her up in her own house in Waterfront........ I'll add this to the Turning a Blind Eye quest page.Maxxb117 22:14, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
I have this problem, too. She's not in her house and I'd have to load back through too much done to fix this like that. On PS3. 65.175.176.184 18:55, 20 May 2013 (GMT)
I've been waiting for her for about 3 months now.. going on 4. Id rather wait a whole in-game year (and travel every corner of Cyrodil trying to find her) than lose my progress since my save before this glitch. PS3 btw. if anyone knows anything,,, she is not home;not at any hour of the day, she is not roaming in her usual roaming spots, i cant go ahead to the moth priests to jumpstart it(i tried). and i cant go to the house in Bruma that the Gray fox is going to be at to talk to him because he is not there. This really makes no sense, no matter what i did after getting the quest before waiting for her it only took a week or 2 tops and me standing outside in Waterfront for 2 months(waiting for 24 hours repeatedly) should be plenty of time for her to make her way back and find me. Wish someone would make one of those Unofficial patches for console... :(

Her new page[edit]

I just wanted to point everybody's attention towards my post here - if you are curious as to why the page is so big. --Krusty 23:42, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Methredhel's Sexuality[edit]

All jokes aside, Is it possible that Methredhel is in fact a lesbian? She lives with two other girls, and according to the posts above this one she and carwen walk around in the nude at times, And "caught them in the act" once so I was just wondering.

As you might have noticed, I just added a note to her page, explaining her supposed nudity – and even though it is an interesting theory, I have serious doubts about her being lesbian – I followed Methredhel around for about 14 in-game days and I never saw her standing next to her cohabitants beds – and I never saw Carwen naked either. When you think of the amount of people crammed together in the small houses on the Waterfront and take her non-existent nudity into account, I think we can all agree that she is supposed to be like the other Waterfront residents – so poor, that she lives with several other people. Sorry. --Krusty 23:00, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
I'll try and keep strong. 98.71.167.144 00:33, 6 January 2010

I found her on the pirate ship in the waterfront district. I searched high and low went to the imperial city bravil everywhere waited in bravil for like 20 days nothing... I wish they would patch this.

Rythe bug[edit]

"Sometimes Methredhel will greet you when you come near with:"You've returned, but where's Rythe?" reasons for this bug are unknown."

I moved this bug added by Wolfking566 just now. Possible bugs should, in most cases, first be discussed on the article's talk page. I've never experienced this bug, but I think I know why you may have since I've gone through the CS regarding that dialogue line before. I assume you've heard Methredel say that in Rythe Lathandas' house? The condition of this line is what I believed simply to be in the house, and not specifically assigned to his wife. Having the same voice, this seems pretty much possible. But in that case, it does not apply to Methredel in particular, but this shouldn't affect any other characters, not worth mentioning then ~ Dwarfmp 23:33, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
