Naming Inconsistency[edit]

It seems we have another naming inconsistency... his house is identified as "Istrius Brolus' House". --Nephele 23:41, 19 August 2006 (EDT)

Great, so at least I know I wasn't just being dyslexic when I made the Istrius page in the first place. However, the editor-name for the house cells is still Istirus, and both the editor and in-game names for the man are also Istirus. I'd say that Istrius is the mistake in this case, another Gottlefont/Gottlesfont type screw-up. If it'll make anyone feel better, we can put up a redirect at Oblivion:Istrius Brolus. (Linking here intentionally so it won't show up as an orphaned page.) --TheRealLurlock 00:50, 20 August 2006 (EDT)

Picking Pockets?[edit]

(moved from the article)
  • There is a slim chance you'll see him trying to pickpocket Gromm in Olav's Tap and Tack, and when he fails Gromm attacks him. This can only occur after you complete the Accidents Happen quest without being seen by Gromm and killing Baenlin in the manner requested.

I've moved this because I'm 99% certain it's a case of mistaken identity. Istirus has a responsibility of 50, which makes it unlikely that he is the pickpocket. Ongar the World-Weary definitely goes on crime sprees though. I think it's more likely it was him. Anybody else? –RpehTCE 05:26, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

Id say you're right there, I don't have access to oblivion at the moment so i cant check but Ongar sounds more likely to do something like this. --Volanaro 05:29, 13 May 2008 (EDT)
i saw him pickpoketing 'Olav' in the tavern not gromm but he failed and 'gromm' killed him but like you said he has a high responsibility it might be a mod or something i dont know though any know why that might be?--LuciusZelgius 01:33, 20 November 2008‎

No greeting?[edit]

Every time I exit conversation with him, subtitles appear but no sound is made and his lips don't move. I find it rather strange. Am I the only one who experiences this, or do more players experience this?

I'm playing Oblivion on the PS3, if that matters. Wolok gro-Barok 14:07, 5 March 2009 (EST))

Intended Imperial?[edit]

I wonder if he was either intended to be an Imperial and/or was accidentally made a Breton. Reasons:

  • That line of missing goodbye dialog was recorded for Imperial males, yet no one uses it, and not Breton males as he is
  • Istirus Brolus sounds Latin as Imperial names do, not French or English like Breton names
  • His wife Jantus is a Imperial
  • There's a Fort Istirus, just to add to the Imperialness of the name

I'm considering making him into an Imperial to fix all of these... any comments? Kivan 02:48, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

That missing dialogue is from his original role as an Arena gatekeeper. Personally, I wouldn't like to see him turned into an Imperial - changing an NPC's race seems a bit excessive when fixing something that isn't even a problem. --Legoless 11:51, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Consensus of one then... leaving that one alone. :^) Kivan 23:11, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

AI problem[edit]

I was leaving My Bruma House, and the moment the game loaded, there was Istirus, walking against a brick wall on top of a boulder, under the stairs in front of the Bruma Fighter's Guild. A few seconds later, he disappeared, and appeared on top of the stair, and continued walking as normal.

Verification? --The Hero of Kvatch (talk) 00:17, 15 June 2013 (GMT)

Sounds like a simple graphics glitch, nothing noteworthy about this NPC in particular. — ABCface 02:13, 15 June 2013 (GMT)
He greeted me when I approached, and I was able to talk with him as normal. It was probably more AI glitch than graphics. --The Hero of Kvatch (talk) 02:42, 16 June 2013 (GMT)
Either way, not notable. — ABCface 11:54, 16 June 2013 (GMT)
