Script for Tutorial Dungeon[edit]

Is there a script that makes the tutorial dungeon inassesible? — Unsigned comment by Helper Unknown (talkcontribs)

After you deliver the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre, the tutorial sewers are locked with a "Key Required" lock. You get access to it a second time for a Dark Brotherhood mission, because you have to go back and infiltrate the Imperial Prison. You are given the key to the sewers by Vicente Valtieri when he gives you the quest. I don't know whether the tutorial sewers are kept open after that mission ends... However, the dungeon that you enter when you do the Dark Brotherhood quest technically is not the same as the original tutorial dungeon. Which areas you can and cannot enter are different; items left in the tutorial dungeon will never be present when you later re-enter the dungeon. So the tutorial dungeon itself can never actually be revisited. --NepheleTalk 00:04, 21 December 2007 (EST)

Is there a script for locking the door?Helper Unknown 18:11, 24 January 2008 (EST)

Question here...[edit]

umm, what are we supposed to do to improve this page's quality... I think its kinda shady, including the page, because it doesnt really have a good map or sum'n, I can try to make a map... — Unsigned comment by SwordSlayer (talkcontribs)

As stated on the [[UESPWiki:Oblivion Places Redesign Project/Progress]] page, this is the one Oblivion dungeon that has not yet been done. Mainly because nearly every item in the tutorial dungeon is highly non-standard and customized, and needs extra description for people playing the game for the first time. And, really, trying to make a map probably isn't going to help too much. Unless you have the construction set and know how to extract all of the information from the construction set on the location of every creature and chest, you will not be able to create the type of map that is needed. --NepheleTalk 13:08, 5 March 2008 (EST)
There's a door on a ledge in the sanctum. You can only get to the ledge by jumping, but you need a key to open the door. What key do I need and how do I get it? — Unsigned comment by Blobert (talkcontribs) on August 24, 2009 at 20:14
Those doors are just for Mythic Dawn agents to come through. You can't enter them as there is no key in game.--Mptrj 03:02, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

The gate is barred[edit]

Is it just me who wonders about the actual effectiveness about barring a gate like the one which is "barred" during the escape from prison? Since, as I understand it, barring is the act of inserting a large bar of wood, to prevent the door from opening, which would be pointless with this gate, since the gate has large holes in, which it would be possible to fit one's hand through to open the gate. Are you new to oblivion? in the game you cannot put your hands through things --Arny 17:43, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
No, I'm not new to Oblivion, but I still expect a bit of common sense and a hint of realism, in the game, plus it's quite clear, visually that the gate is not barred. Darkholme - Talk 22:30, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Oblivion is terrible about this sort of thing. Zero Punctuation's review of the game rags on this fact. AThousandYoung 21:26, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps it's barred magically?--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 22:53, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Split[edit]

I'd like to propose that this page be split into two similarly-named pages, one for Tutorial/Deliver the Amulet and another for Scheduled for Execution, with cross-links to each other. With 12 separate zones in different orders (since you're going out in one quest and back in in the other) and with overlapping names, I think it's too confusing to try to keep everything on one page.

For now, I've set up the basic structure of a standard dungeon and used distinct names for each section as secondary names; the overlapping primary names should still anchor on the first section with that name. So if we stick with one page, the structure will work; if we split, we can just get rid of the secondary names, though the Dark Brotherhood "Sewers" sections will still need unique anchor names. In the meantime, at least the correct structure is there if any of the OPRPers feels the urge to fill in the information. Robin Hoodtalk 23:17, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

My thirteenth sandbox has a proposed disambig page for this now. What do you think?--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 16:11, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
I like the split idea but that sandbox won't work - the first link would point to itself. I think the disambig page should be here and link to "Imperial Prison Sewer (Escape From Prison)" and "Imperial Prison Sewer (Scheduled for Execution)".
My reason for making both pages bracketed is that it makes it clear which page is which. If we leave the tutorial dungeon here, we're bound to get people doing the SfE quest reading it and thinking it's wrong. Including the full quest name makes the title a bit long, but it should hopefully eliminate any question about which page is which. rpeh •TCE 09:29, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
We might be able to simply put Imperial Prison Sewer (Escape) and Imperial Prison Sewer (Execution).--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 20:56, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I'd prefer the full names. One word doesn't make it clear what's going on. rpeh •TCE 14:21, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Since it looks like we've got a decently broad consensus for the split idea, I've gone ahead and done it (mostly because I wanted to work on it!). The original page is now a disambig, and I've created Oblivion:Imperial Prison Sewer (Scheduled for Execution) and Oblivion:Imperial Prison Sewer (Tutorial). Let me know if you have any comments. --SerCenKing Talk 22:47, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

() I'm going through and re-linking everything I can. There are a couple that I've left as is, since they were just referencing the location without reference to any of the relevant quests. A couple I wasn't 100% sure about and would like a second opinion:

  • Adamus Phillida: Refers to location right after the tutorial, but since it's locked now, I figured leaving it as a disambiguation made the most sense. I can see an argument to link it to the tutorial version, though.
  • Animals: The first reference is ambiguous in that I don't remember if there are rats in the Scheduled for Execution version and I don't have Oblivion installed at the moment. As an aside, I don't remember a rat in either of them that only attacks when attacked, so that needs to be checked too.
  • Nirnroot: The reference on this page is to The North Tunnel, which isn't part of the same location. Instinct says it should be de-linked, but at the same time, I think it would look odd to de-link just that one title.

I've also done User pages and talk pages, where appropriate, just so that the only things left pointing to the disambiguation page are genuinely non-specific references. Robin Hoodtalk 03:38, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Quick update: rpeh has confirmed the Animals one, and fixed a mistake I made while I was looking at it...not sure where my head was at there. Thanks. Robin Hoodtalk 23:27, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
