Did you actually try that with the Blade of Woe? I ask because in my first playthrough I had both the Blade of Woe (hadn't joined the DB, but I had committed one murder) and Umbra. Both are quest items, and both were removed at this point during this quest. I reloaded the save I made outside and just moved in like a natural disaster. — Unsigned comment by Quillan (talkcontribs) on 12. April 2006

easier solution...

I tried your suggestion about luring out the guy, but being level 31, it didn't helped much... Althought I had the Blade of Woe & that silver dagger, but - being mostly stealthy - couldn't take out Mr. Initiater, but he had some nice summoned mace, giving me deadly constant cold/shock damage over 15 sec plus silence etc...
So I had it the brute way, sneaked in, took them out by 3-4. Pre-stocked Blizzard scrolls helped much... On this level I've found some nice things along the way (100% resist frost ring; fortify sneak 15, fort. personality(?) 10, detect life 25 ring etc.) So it's worth checking the containers...
I think i could have just go in invisible take the book, go out, but It was fun hearing these fanatics swearing... — Unsigned comment by Sergyur (talkcontribs) on 21. April 2006

Fighting

After a few attempts of complying and getting my items removed (and subsequently getting killed) I decided to do it brute force, and it was actually quite easy. Always try to get the attention of a few opponents and then backtrack - some of them lose interest and you can fight them in small groups. Check out all their corpses, you will find a staff of storm which makes dealing with a larger group of enemies in the quarters a lot easier. Also, as somebody already mentioned, check out all hallways, barrels, boxes, chests etc., there is a lot of rings, amulets, and gold. — Unsigned comment by Knabar (talkcontribs) on 10. May 2006

Yah, to me this whole discussion is a bit esoteric - I also tried the "be nice" a few times and always died. So I just took in full armor and potions and easily killed off the cultists I was matched against. I wonder if this page is better off just saying "Fight it out - bring your heavy equipment". I think that is what the game designers assumed you'd do. It was no harder than raiding a mine full of goblins. --Angmojoe 08:19pm, 04-Sep-2006 (CST)

Removed some stuff

I combined a lot of redundant information in attempt to clean up the page. We had 3 diffrent tips that were just trying to say your quest items won't get remvoed so you can manage to keep some wepons (and to address the first comment of the talk page, I verefied you keep the blade of woe). --Lorenz03Tx (15:37, 26 July 2006)

Honorblade

My honorblade of Chorral wasn't removed. When it came time to sacrifice the prisoner, I just whipped out my sword, summoned a Clannfear, and mowed through the cultists like a scythe through wheat. — Unsigned comment by Klash72 (talkcontribs) on 13. August 2006

found another easier solution

I pickpocket my weapon back (it takes a few times). With my absorb health sword, I refused to sacrafice him, and those agents were massacred within seconds. — Unsigned comment by Ant8904 (talkcontribs) on 24. August 2006

Cleanup?

It is not immediately obvious to me why a cleanup tag was added to this page. It's in the proper quest format and scanning through the page there is nothing that jumps out as being inappropriate. It might be useful when adding cleanup tags to pages (especially ones without blatantly obvious problems) to add a comment on the talk page describing what it is that you think needs to be cleaned up. --Nephele 20:42, 14 October 2006 (EDT)

There are a couple of character links that aren't on this page (small thing), but I found the Suggestions section a little hard to digest when I read through it. It was late when I ran across this, so I wanted to flag it and come back and re-read it when I was fresher to make sure it wasn't just fatigue that was making it difficult to digest. That's it.--Hoggwild5 01:49, 15 October 2006 (EDT)

Taking back your things...

If you have the option to, I reccommend sneak-punching Harrow in the back of the head if you have the strength once he's taken your things. Doing that, you're free to wear your ordinary armour and fight for the book with your protection. — Unsigned comment by 83.100.224.89 (talk) on 5. November 2006

(I tried this. Though I wasn't killing him fast enough as it were, I managed to back him off the cliff down to the foot of the stairs, where he made a little crunch sound and died without anyone noticing... After, I hid up top and waited for the speech to finish, then picked them off as they came up the stairs with the Goblin Totem Stick Thing (20 damage at level 3 works wonders). 76.179.150.59 21:25, 8 August 2007 (EDT)

Summoning Mythic Dawn Stuff

I've heard unconfirmed reports that after killing Jeelus, the mythic dawn guys will teach you the spell to summon their armour and weapon- its low mana cost and lasts for 1000 seconds. I'll check this out when I have time. — Unsigned comment by Eno Hlaau (talkcontribs) on 24. November 2006

Personally I can't confirm this, I took the knife and killed the priest when I was told to, after which Ms. Camoran essentially dismissed everyone, leaving me standing on the altar free to take the Mysterium Xarxes, kill Harrow to retreive my things, etc. Mythic Dawn armor would've been sweet, though. --CharmSpell 08:58, 19 June 2007 (EDT)
I think it's just wishful thinking. The construction set shows no instance of the LpBoundArmorMaceMD spell ever being given to the player. --NepheleTalk 00:36, 20 June 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, you can't get the armour by any in-game means. What would be the point? You still won't be able to leave the caverns. You can add the spell to your character with the console (which is noticably in correct spelling and capitalization, unlike other spells you aren't supposed to have). I tried it, and with it, you can massacre anything that is in your path with a single hit (if you use the Mythic Dawn Arnor and Sword, the mace is kind of lame.). I decided to go on a psychopathic massacre, mostly because I was tired of playing "Mr. Nice Guy.", and slaughtered the entire population of Kvatch, Bravil, and the Imperial City with the entire guard house attacking me. The Mythic Dawn Armor and Sword owns beyond your imagination. --Darkheart 11:29, 1 March 2009 (EST)

bug or what?

I tried all solutions. kill all or join them, sacrifice the prison or not but still I get stucked. I go to gate and try to open it. It says need's a key. I have lootet _everything_ in area that I can go, but still I can't get away of there. I can't drop the book or Dagon Shrine Key away, and in map the red arrow point's me all the time. What should I do? (oh, and I'd like to keep Jeelius alive)(I have PC-game) — Unsigned comment by 81.197.125.63 (talk) on 7. December 2006

I am having the same problem as the editor in "bug or what?" above has described. The Dagon Shrine key won't open any of the doors or gates that "Require Key". There is no way to get out of the Shrine. — Unsigned comment by BNTaylor (talkcontribs) on 7. January 2007
Are you trying the right door? I'm guessing that perhaps you're trying to leave the shrine area (i.e., the zone named Dagon Shrine) going back out the door that you came in. After the statue collapses, that door becomes sealed; another door on the north side of the room opens up, and that's how you have to get out. If that's not where you're at, could you explain more precisely which door you're trying to open, and where you are in the quest?
--Nephele 23:33, 6 January 2007 (EST)

For some reason whenever i try to get out of the dagon shrine after grabing the book the last door to the outside is locked and needs a key. So i got one from the guy who follows you but it doesnt open the door so i cant get outside. — Unsigned comment by 65.102.18.194 (talk) on 2. April 2007

I'm guessing you're at the door that has a pull rope that opens it, not a key. --Nephele 01:09, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

I'm also having the same problem, I follow the guide to the t but when I get to the room with the gates and the wooden door it says they are both locked and need keys, and if I go back to dagons shrine (the room jeelius is in) the pathway that I remember running through before is also gated, and I can't get through that either. This is pissing me off to no end. — Unsigned comment by 99.230.234.79 (talk) on 26. February 2008

Sounds like this part of the quest is seriously bugged, because I'm having the same problem. Both gates become closed when you pick up the book. The one Jeelius tries to escape through does NOT open, trapping you in the area. There is no "pull rope" anywhere to be seen. In fact the whole quest is broken for me, Mankar never disappears tho he says he's leaving, nobody ever asks me to sacrifice anyone. Wait 24 hours even. I hate when main quests are this badly broken! — Unsigned comment by 24.20.62.194 (talk) on 9. March 2008

Assassins Guide

Ok. Here is the evil assasin's guide: Go through the process until you have to kill the prisoner. Kill him. Wait until almost everyone leaves the shrine (wait about an hour as described). Run up to the gate, not the door out, and get a lead on your escort. Sneak and pick off hi your favorite weapon and any trinkets that you need. Staying on the ledge near the gate, kill your escort while sneaking and don't move down. You have to avoid attracting the attention of everyone else in the room. You can then open your attack on the lead member when she gets up on the alter. Kill her and the guard. Don't get the book.

Sneak out of the front door of the shrine. The guard's back should be toward you. Sneak to the left down the tunnel, pick the lock and loot the room. Sneak back behind the guard and open your attack. You can then pull him into the shrine. You can then pull all the member's of the cult into the shrine between one and three at a time. After you kill everyone THEN go back and get the book. The back gate should open up and you can proceed out.

One time, after clearing the shrine room but before I left I got the book. The statue collapsed but no one came after me. The rear gate did not open. In this case I believe it will be bugged and you'll have to go back and try again. — Unsigned comment by 72.48.49.62 (talk) on 7. January 2007

about Jeelius

If he make it out alive, will he wait at you at the caves entrance and introduce himself or run straight back to the temple of one in IC? Expecting him to wait I made half a dozen reloads and never met him on the outside. He died in 2 out of 6 attempts, the 4 remaining he must have run back to IC without me noticing. — Unsigned comment by Bongo (talkcontribs) on 15. January 2007

So far I have found that I need to escort Jeelius back home, otherwise he is likely to get killed by bandits, mountain lions, or bears. He is naked in a dangerous world, most things could kill him. — Unsigned comment by 202.3.37.77 (talk) on 28. May 2007
He will head to the temple. If he didn't die, just go to the temple, wait 24 hours, and he should appear. You'll have to talk to him twice to get the bonus points. RFC3251 01:07, 14 May 2008 (EDT)
In the Jeelius section, there's a piece that reads, "To guarantee Jeelius' survival, you can delay freeing him until after you have gone through all of the Living Quarters and killed all of the cultists. Then return to the shrine, release him, and accompany him out through the empty corridors." While certainly desirable, I don't believe this is even remotely possible, because the only way to get to the Living Quarters (unless you can turn off clipping, i.e., cheat) is past a gate that is opened if and only if you grab the MX. (I'd like to add that this aspect of the gate's behavior is something that certainly should be mentioned in the walkthrough.) Now, if I'm wrong about this (possible, for sure), that should be explained as well, because if there really is a method to make this sentence true, it is extremely not obvious.--Dr. Memory 01:19, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
Also in my experience, if you hurry along with Jeelius, he will bide his time when you meet cultists in the Living Quarters, allowing you to deal with them...but you want to finish 'em off quickly. --Dr. Memory 01:19, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
Grabbing the Mysterium Xarxes does not automatically release Jeelius. If you grab the book without previously releasing Jeelius, the statue will collapse on top of him (which means you need to prevent the statue from killing him), as already described in the article. --NepheleTalk 17:25, 20 July 2008 (EDT)

Is level 7 good for this main quest?

I'm not sure I'm ready for this quest.

What things should I need before doing this quest and how do I get my things back?--ShakenMike 17:00, 21 February 2007 (EST)

Basically, every quest in this game will be tailored to your level. Most NPCs, creatures, loot, and rewards are based upon your level. What you'll want to take into consideration when deciding when to take certain quests is the levelling of rewards and loot. At higher levels, enemies will be tougher but so will you; however, you will also get more powerful and valuable items and larger cash rewards. See Quest Timing for a detailed opinion on when it is best to perform certain quests, but it is ultimately dependent upon the way you want to play the game.
The other thing you may want to keep in mind (if you like looting in Oblivion) is that the finishing the Main Quest closes all Oblivion gates. --GuildKnight 19:17, 22 February 2007 (EST)
Ok thanks and I'll keep that in mind. Should I keep going through the main quest to the end of the game?
If I beat this game that it for the main quest or do I do other stuff?--ShakenMike 00:49, 24 February 2007 (EST)
You can complete whatever quests you like and skip whatever quests you like. The Main Quests is just a small fraction of quests available in the game. For links to all of the quests, check out the Quests Page. --GuildKnight 21:10, 24 February 2007 (EST)

This is my third time through the game and just about to start this quest again. I'm not sure why my game doesn't let me beat it(My main quest stops in my second time through was a major problem while doing the Great gate quest where Martin get killed and I got a game over Bug.--ShakenMike 11:33, 5 March 2007 (EST)

Could you please clarify the above statement? I'm not sure what you're asking. --GuildKnight 17:25, 6 March 2007 (EST)
This quest is a timed quest where my character is so slow in speed to get this quest to completed.--ShakenMike 17:27, 6 March 2007 (EST)
This quest, to my knowledge, is not "timed." I'm not sure what problem you're having. --GuildKnight 17:37, 6 March 2007 (EST)
It's after the completed quest of allies for Bruma quest and I'll let you know when I get to that quest.--ShakenMike 19:03, 6 March 2007 (EST)

Mysterious Note

On one of the tables in the living quarters section there is a note that gives instructions to reach an unspecified location. I haven't bothered to follow it yet; does anyone know what it leads to? Also, it doesn't name any landmarks by name (and I'm assuming the starting location is the same cave you found it in). Mebestien 15:32, 18 March 2007 (EDT)

I'd assume it's one of several notes that are just red herrings. I haven't tried to follow it myself, but I haven't heard any reports of any of those notes actually leading to anything. --Nephele 23:29, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
When I read it, I gave it some thought, and figured you could almost interpret it as being directions to the cave you're in - which makes sense, in some ways. 76.65.30.121 21:58, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
i did it as a lvl 5 with a staff ruma drops and i dont think you will have a problem.24.111.209.63 21:27, 6 June 2009 (EDT)

Akaviri Longsword

Is this really a reward for this quest? I thought you got that when you joined the blades in an earlier quest. — Unsigned comment by Grandmaster z0b (talkcontribs) on 22. March 2007

Yep, I think you're right. The only Akaviri Longsword (or in fact Akaviri Katana) that I can see being given as a reward is given when you join the Blades, which is unrelated to the Dagon Shrine quest. So I'll delete that reward. --Nephele 23:59, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
Not only that, you can also get Akaviri Katanas in Cloud Ruler Temple, but the one you get for joining the blades is the only one with any monetary value. --Darkheart 11:35, 1 March 2009 (EST)

Game CRASH bug?

Ok here's the situation: Xbox 360, Level 30, Argonian, Birthsign: The Tower, Nightblade. I enter the Caverns. EVERYTIME that I begin there is always someone different who I fight (at some point - even using the different opptions) that when the fight begins the game crashes... My game has a lot of problems crashing... but all of the other crash problems are solved with just changeing the way that you go about that spot. PLEASE if anyone can tell me how to avoid this let me know. I'm almost to the point of throwing stuff. (I've tried this quest about 20 times now) — Unsigned comment by 66.133.251.28 (talk) on 11. June 2007

i had this problem too on the 360, i just done some other things like closing oblivion gates and came back later and it worked, if that dosent work go get your disk skimmed, it takes off the top layer of the disk getting rid of all the scratches or marks. — Unsigned comment by Marleysexton (talkcontribs) on 21. jeelius looks dead...?

i cant seem to find out why but jeelius just lays there on the ground after i activated him and i cant seem to get him up to follow me out of the cave...i can still talk to him but he just lays there on the ground and im really confused. — Unsigned comment by Srahrle22 (talkcontribs) on 9. July 2007

Is it possible he's actually dead? Do you get to take things from his body or just get no reaction when you select him? --RpehTalk 05:48, 9 July 2007 (EDT)
The same happened to me but with Lucien Lachance. He's on the ground, in the position of being dead(you can move his body around and such) but when you activate him, you begin to talk with him whilst he's still laying there. --Playjex 05:52, 9 July 2007 (EDT)

Possible to Enter living quarters before taking the Book?

I couldn't get either gate to open that leads to the living quarters without taking the book, which opens the one gate. Why is it suggested to clear out the living quarters before taking the book/releasing the argonian, if its not possible. Would it be possible to include on the page how to get into the living quarters without taking the book. I tried to use Telekinesis on the one on the other side of the cavern entrance but that didn't work either. 71.168.2.196 22:46, 7 September 2007 (EDT)DVSDavis

What happens if..?

I go to the caverns and kill the doorkeeper before I get the quest. Does he respawn? Because I just did that, and although I doubt Bethesda would overlook the possibility, I don't want to break this quest. -Dan 9410 14:27, 26 February 2008 (EST)

Yep, looks like the Doorkeeper does respawn. You shouldn't have any problems with the quest ;). –Eshetalk14:18, 26 February 2008 (EST)

Stolen Status

Stolen items, when taken back, WILL still be stolen afterwards, when received. I have unofficial oblivion patch, so not sure if vanilla does this or not. 216.23.34.37 02:22, 28 July 2008 (EDT)

Sorry but I had to replace the original text. We always want information about how the vanilla version behaves and, if appropriate, how the UOP changes it. The fact your UOPed copy worked one way is useful information, but not without information about the original. –RpehTCE 03:29, 28 July 2008 (EDT)
I've now tested this myself both with and without UOP, using stolen weapons, armor, apparatus, ingredients, books and misc items - and they always come back as stolen. I'm removing the note because it seems pretty clear that it's false. –RpehTCE 06:58, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

Statue Drop

What happens if you use a spell to knock the book off the where it normally is. Will the statue fall? Helper Unknown 07:13, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

Most likely not. I think the statue only drops when you actually take the book into your inventory. -- LordDagon 10:54, 16 August 2008 (EDT)
Confirmed. The script on the book that makes the statue fall only occurs once you add the book to your inventory. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 12:46, 22 August 2008 (EDT)

Saving Jeelius

I thought of some new ways to save Jeelius, but I'm not sure if they would work, and I don't want to add them until they've been tested. I've already finished the quest, so I can't go back any time soon to test them, so could someone help me?

The methods are:

  • Use a long invisibility spell on Jeelius, preventing him from being detected and attacked until after he has escaped from the shrine. What I think needs to be tested about this is if Jeelius will use spells or do anything else that would cancel out his invisibility during his escape, if the cultists can still see him, or if the cultists might use Dispel on him.
  • Reverse-pickpocket some zero-weight clothing(you should be able to give him at least a shirt, the wrist irons, and a hood) onto Jeelius with Chameleon enchantments. If you cannot get enough chameleon, complete the 100% needed with spell. I was wondering here if Jeelius would even put on the clothing, if, once gain, the cultists might still see him, or if, once again, the cultists might use Dispel. I was also wondering if it was possible to find a place near Jeelius where you would not be detected.
  • Drop a weapon near Jeelius. Here, see if Jeelius will pick up the weapon and fight with it and if cultists will pick the weapon up before him.
  • Finally, run alongside Jeelius as he escapes, using one second paralysis spells on cultists to prevent them from attacking him, while healing and defending Jeelius as necessary. Here, I just wanted to know if cultists were immune to paralysis (I was pretty sure they were immune to Dispel but was unsure about paralysis).

Thanks. Orange-laser-cube 19:05, 17 August 2008 (EDT)

Pickpocketing Harrow

Something fishy's going on here. With 100 Sneak, I have no problems pickpocketing my heavy Elven Longsword from Harrow, but absolutely cannot successfully steal back the 0-Weight Skeleton Key, or the 1-Weight Ring of Namira, or the 1-Weight Ring of Khajiiti. Any other "easy" item (Spelldrinker, Ring of Sunfire, etc) is also trivial, but those 3 consistently fail, even if Invisible as well. — Unsigned comment by 71.9.18.26 (talk) at 04:30 on 5 October 2008

My first guess is that it's something to do with the cost of the items. I've noticed before that certain very expensive items seem to be beyond anybody's ability to pickpocket...not sure what the exact reasoning is. If all else fails, use the Console to remove the items from Harrow and give them to yourself...or you can just finish the quest normally, of course. :)
Oh and off-topic, if you're going to be a semi-active or active contributor, as it appears you already are from the Movement Formulas page, can I suggest creating an account. That way you can use the standard signature code (--~~~~) and have your name show up instead of leaving it unsigned or having it show up as an IP address. What's more, you have the joy of figuring out just what in blazes you wanna put on your User Page (if anything). <g> --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 23:32, 5 October 2008 (EDT)
Stealing artifacts is EXTREMELY difficult. It took me an hour to pickpocket Mehrunes Razor and the Ring of Khajiiti. I still have to pickpocket the Escutcheon of Chorrol. Azura's Star is very difficult to pickpocket either, same goes for the Skeleton key. On the other hand, pickpocketing the Morag Tong cuirass is easy, even though it's a pretty heavy item. Keep Your Equipment Without Fighting

So I was trying various means of getting inside to the ritual without losing my items. I found that if you time a roll right you can get past harrow without talking to him and enter the door. After you are inside, the quest is updated to the part where you see the ritual and have to steal the book, even though you are wearing what you came in with. Talking to Harrow only triggers the "Shh. The master is speaking" dialogue.

getting by harrow w/o talking 2 harrow;escaping

after the guard opens the door for you to go speak to harrow, go into sneak. after you see him back away until you are back into the last room a little ways. when he turns his back, sprint past him while in sneak mode. dont stop until you find the dagon shrine start mankar's speech and wait for ut to end in the shadows. when he is in paradise, find the lady that wants you to kill the argonian. do what you want from there, but i killed it and harrow was now longer looking to take my stuff. you need to also get risd of harrow if you did give him your items to enter the shrine. after you get rid of harrow in the many ways you can, try to get rid of ruma. she has a possible drop of an amazing staff that can kill the dawn in one or two hits(helpful if you have some varla stones to recharge it as you only get 45-48 shots with it). after that there is always a guard to the left of the statue of dagon that needs to die. there might or might not be a guard on the upper levals of the shrine. make sure that he is dead as well. at this point, you can take the book and leave the shrine. follow your way out of the shrine and deliver it to martin and jeoffre and move to the next quest

simple and effective solution

before you talk to harrow, just drop all the stuff you will need just as a weapon full armour potions which will stack etc. careful about dropping a ring though as it can be hard to find especially if you kick it away accidentally. worked for me, i listened to all jiberish and when the portal closed, i ran straight for harrow killed him and got the rest of my stuff back and gold.

another thing to do is get the ring of burden when it is not a quest item and leave it on harrow when he takes it, altough pointless it means you can attack him at will. — Unsigned comment by 86.140.61.204 (talk) on 14 June 2009

This is already mentioned on the main article. And giving Harrow the Ring of Burden won't do much due to his "Harrow's Super Carry Ability" mentioned on his page. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 06:48, 14 June 2009 (EDT)
  • Wouldn't Harrow's Super Carry Ability make him uber-powerful, with a Fortify Strength 200 effect on it? Well, it doesn't, but why doesn't it?--Darkheart 04:25, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Because Strength is not the only factor that determines the combat strength of Harrow. --Timenn-<talk> 09:52, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

"Harrow dead" bug

(Moved from main article--seems rather unlikely)Eshetalk 16:35, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Once free of the cave and the book delivered to Martin, return to the cave to find Harrow standing motionless outside. Approach him to speak, remove all of your personal items and exit. He then will fall over dead. — Unsigned comment by 98.222.103.120 (talk) on June 30 2009

Paradise Portal?

"If you try to activate Mankar Camoran's portal, you'll find that a key is needed to open it." Just wondering, if you used the console to unlock it, where does it lead? (sorry if its a stupid question)— Unsigned comment by 71.220.98.36 (talk) on 5 July 2009

Not a stupid question at all. If I had to guess, I think the portal doesn't lead anywhere, and just uses that as an excuse for the player not to be able to get through. There are a couple of doors like that, such as some of the doors the Mythic Dawn Assassins walk through at the beginning. --Darkheart 22:13, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Basically right. It has a script on it that runs when Mankar activates it, but won't respond to the player. It's kind of linked to a portal in paradise, but only as an "enable parent", not as a destination. –rpehTCE 05:46, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Basically, yes. Just load up a prior save or going looking for Harrow. Good luck. --Elliot(T-C) 19:50, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

The Biggest Bug I've ever seen in Oblivion!!!

Well, as the name says, this is the stangest glitch ever. I got into the cult cave, and decided to kill Jellius. Well, then I went into the place with the doorkeeper and stuff, and killed everyone there. BUT then I went back to the shrine to finish off Ruma, and she was attacking a very alive Jeelius, sleeping on the alter like I never touched him. (I'm on Xbox 360 so I couldn't have used any ressurecting mods or whatever) And on top of that this happened 2 times! any ideas as to what happened? thanks! --Arch-Mage Matt 20:54, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

VERY weird bug in the Living Quarters

I just had easily the strangest Oblivion bug I've seen occur during this quest. In the Living Quarters, there were gigantic bottomless pits all over the place. They mostly just blocked the hallways, but some were in the middle of rooms. Anyone (including me) who fell into a pit soon reappeared on the ground level, which either put the character on solid ground if momentum carried them that far, or right over the pit after which they just kept falling, possibly indefinitely if they lacked horizontal momentum. The cultists happily ran into them, and as soon as they ran into one they left combat (i.e. the combat music stopped), even though they kept yelling death threats and battle cries. The in-game map even showed the pits, showing empty space wherever the pits were. Also, one of the cultists kept fleeing me for some reason, though he was also yelling battle cries. He mysteriously vanished as soon as he left the area. Jeelius had gotten lost in a pit beforehand...maybe he turned into the fleeing cultist somehow?

Luckily, I had the Boots of Springheel Jak on me and could jump over the pits, so I successfully escaped the cavern. Still...really, really weird bug, by far the strangest I've seen in my hundreds of hours of play.

Has anyone else ever heard of this bug? I'm on the PC, with Shivering Isles installed, but no patches or plug-ins.

Fix quest item enchantment bug (TES)

When Harrow removes your items, the enchantments are not dispelled properly (this is explained on the main page). To fix, add the following code to the script governing the item removal (it's located in Quests->MQ06->Quest Stages->Stage 40):

player.UnequipItem 0007be2b ;Necromancer amulet

player.dispel 0007be26 ;Necro enchantment dispelled

You need to add other quest items as well. WRFan 04:38, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Rally, Frenzy, Reverse Pickpocket

Remember MDK in Demolition Man? MDK is RFR in Oblivion - Rally, Frenzy, Reverse Pickpocket. Pickpocket your stuff from Harrow. Cast 100% Reflect spell+Invisibility on the Argonian to protect him from spells gone astray cast by frenzied Mythic Dawn spellcasters. Run upstairs, to the top of the cave, hide in the shadows, go into sneak mode, cast a monstrous long range Rally spell, followed by a long range Frenzy spell. I cast Frenzy up to lvl 25 in 250 feet radius for 240 seconds. Whooa! Now this is a spell! Cast both Rally and Frenzy on the ceiling, because Bethesda obviously doesn't know how to calculate vectors, so often targets within the spell reach are not affected due to buggy range calculation. Harrow will follow you all the time, so equip sigil stone enchanted spell absorption clothing in case a spell gone astray hits you, cast invisibility on self, run downstairs. Frenzied cultists will see Harrow, attack him too, they fight, Harrow is probably the last one standing, but you never know.

Don't touch the argonian or the book just yet, leave the area, reverse pockpocket a black shirt of silence and a hood of death on the acolyte in the first section of the caverns. When he goes to bed he equips the items and dies. Note that all the remaining NPCs will be still friendly towards you at this point, even though you practically killed most of them by this time. lol. Now cast Frenzy on the guards, while sneaking in the shadows, let them fight each other and Harrow, kill the remaining guards, free the Argonian, grab the book and you are done here. In the next section (living quarters) cast a targeted Invisibility spell on the Argonian so that he can leave undetected, then continue using the reverse pickpocket method in addition to Rally/Frenzy WRFan 12:58, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Removed Note

I just removed this edit:

Also if you wait before Harrow talks to you he'll leave and and you wont have to give away your possesions but they WON'T be hostile until you take the book.

Is this really true? I'm just concerned of this because if it were, I'm guessing someone should've already posed it.--S'drassaT2M 01:11, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

note correction

There are 9 major cities and it says all but 2 (kavatch, IC)have fixed gates so I changed it from the previous six to seven. Corevette789 22:48, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
