Does casting Bound Gauntlets unequip the Bands of the Chosen from the Paradise quest? --66.23.133.52 12:49, 13 May 2007 (EDT)

Yes. However, it will trigger the permanent quest item enchantment glitch when it tries to re-equip them when the effect wears off. You'll be stuck with 50% weakness to fire forever, and you won't be able to open the door to the second section of the Grotto. --Deathbane27 13:50, 13 May 2007 (EDT)

CtD issues[edit]

Should someone note that Bound Armour can crash to desktop or worse (and mroe often) hard crash the PC if forceably removed?

This is mainly noticeable if you surrender to the guards during a fight or try be a smartass when you speak to Harrow on the "Join the mythic dawn" quest while wearing bound armour. In both instances it'll crash the game immediatly in my experience

Well, I've made a note of the glitch. However, I'm willing to bet that your incidents are isolated, as I've never heard of any problems caused by Bound Armor. SubtleCynicism 20:41, 15 October 2007 (EDT)
Actually, this is a known issue, but it was fixed with the v 1.1.511 patch that came out nearly a year and a half ago. The simplest fix would be to install the patch, and thus fix a whole bunch of known problems with the game. --NepheleTalk 03:52, 19 October 2007 (EDT)
I heard that the Ring of Disrobing from SI still can cause the CTD. So I wonder - is it possible to workaround this problem by:
A) Adding super powerful Dispel ability to the player when equipping the ring;
B) Forcing all bound items to being unequipped and removed, and only THEN removing the whole inventory?

Bound Armor & UOP[edit]

Now, I know that we don't tend to mention unofficial mods here, but is the fact that the UOP changes the bound cuirass & greaves to be light armor significant enough to mention? People might read this page, see that the cuirass and greaves are heavy armor, and design their character accordingly, only to find that they are actually light armor because the UOP is installed. --Gaebrial 05:59, 23 November 2007 (EST)

I hadn't noticed that one. I've always thought we should document as many of the UOP changes on here as possible and that would seem to be a good example, so objections from me! --RpehTCE 06:15, 23 November 2007 (EST)
I do have an objection to this one. If I am right, UOP is mentioned only to fix bugs, so there is no need to mention it here, I think. --Mankar CamoranTCE 08:13, 23 November 2007 (EST)
There is actually quite a lengthy discussion about UOP here. After glancing through it (I admit I didn't read it completely), I am quite sure it is not necessary to mention UOP in this case. Please correct me if I am wrong. --Mankar CamoranTCE 08:40, 24 November 2007 (EST)

Bound helmet and game crash[edit]

Hi! I play Oblivion on the 360, with no add-ons, just the standard patch. I am unable to continue in the game after I saved while wearing a bound helmet (cast the spell myself, nice way of boosting the conjuration skill, I found out), and whenever I load the game again, to continue, it crashes when the helmet timer wears out. No idea if this is widespread though, so could just be my 360 acting wierd (it does, from time to time, have problem reading discs). 80.202.106.235 05:48, 4 June 2008 (EDT)

I'm currently getting the same problem with Bound Cuirass. If I figure out a way to get around it, I'll post about it, but I'm suspecting I'll have to go back to my previous save (which unfortunately is very old). --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 18:17, 1 June 2009 (EDT)
Got lucky and found a solution fairly quickly! I'll post it in the Bugs section of the page. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 18:23, 1 June 2009 (EDT)

Hey guys, a solution that I found when having these problems is to run to a location where you can wait or jump to another location, and there is a much better chance of it not crashing when the action is over and the spell timer has run out. I ALWAYS save before conjuring any equipment or at one of those stone shrines that gives you a conjured weapon and/or armor. Hope this helps!

Shielding on bound armor?[edit]

Why does the Bound armor page go so deeply into shielding?Should it not be a small blip with the marker of the shield? Just pointin' it out.Drake3555 22:42, 8 June 2008 (EDT)

I assume you're talking about the section in the Notes? In which case, the point is a comparison of Bound Armor with Shield and therefore, no, a link can't just replace those notes. --NepheleTalk 11:37, 9 June 2008 (EDT)
K... See your point--Drake3555 19:21, 15 June 2008 (EDT)

Weird Graphical Glitch[edit]

Ok, so I just reverse pickpocketed a full set of Perma-Bound Armor (all enchanted with Fortify Strength 10pts) onto a Legion Guard in the Imperial City. I went out the gate, went back in and he was wearing it all except for the Greaves (apparently, legion greaves are better >.>) So I went out and back in again and this time, he had BOTH THE LEGION HELMET AND THE BOUND HELMET ON AT THE SAME TIME. This is on the XBOX 360, so a pic is near impossible, unless you want a messy webcam pic. ImmortalKaine 22:15, 28 June 2008 (EDT)

You probably have a file loading error. Try reloading your game, or just steal the bound armor back.-Puddle TalkContribs. 22:22, 28 June 2008 (EDT)

Doomstone Freeze[edit]

(Following comments moved here from Oblivion:Glitches/Proposed)

When activating a conjuration doomstone the game will freeze if you are wearing certain Daedric armor pieces. This has been tested wearing boots + greaves + plate and I will test more soon.

  • I think it freezes if you are wearing Daedric Armor of the same type, because you usually can't unequip Conjured Armor. But I think weapons are okay.

Permanent bound shield[edit]

I heard you can reverse pickpocket permanently bound shields, my first question is; can you duplicate permanently bound armor? And my second question is; how do you permanently bound armor? Mor'tar'iit 08:11, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

See the Glitches page. Mikeyboy52 10:51, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
You can create a permanent bound item by damaging it first, through combat or Disintegrate Armor spells then repairing them to full health and dropping it. After you have dropped it, wait for the spell to expire and the bound item will become permanent. As for duplicating them, I've only been able to do it by enchanting the item first. --S'drassa T2M 16:08, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
You can duplicate permanent bound items without enchanting them. what you must do after repairing them is either store them in a container or do not use them for a little bit. either reload your save or reload you game entirely and they will then be able to be duplicated. this happens to all weapons and armors. you cannot dupe them directl after using and repairing them you must wait for about an hour after using them or reoad your game.

Thanks again S'drassa ^_^ Mor'tar'iit 02:31, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

The whole nine yards[edit]

My arithmatic skillz are cursed, so could someone figure out the base cost of a custom spell to summon the whole set of armor + longsword for sixty seconds, with (duh)lvl 100 conjuration? I just want to know if conjuration is worth it. The Wurm 07:21, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Apparently, there is no Longsword, just a Claymore and a Dagger. Count Marius Caro 18:47, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

related section[edit]

if were going to include the sections, could we at least do it with the three equal signs? Mikeyboy52 05:41, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

I changed it back because that's the format used on all the spell effect pages, and I don't think it's worth changing everywhere. There are over 100 magic effects so please make sure you really think it's something you want to do. Personally, I think using the H3 style would be too much bold in too small an area. rpeh •TCE 05:48, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
I could do it, especially while looking at the category page. Over-night I could probably do it. its 2 in the afternoon though so its my gaming/small edits.I mostly made the original edit because sections of a "related" is a little... redundant? Mikeyboy52 05:56, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
But I wouldn't do it if I was the only one who thought it looked better.Mikeyboy52 06:05, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Bound Shield[edit]

is there no stone that gives the Bound Shield? — Unsigned comment by 142.161.236.115 (talk) on 4 December 2010

Nope. See Oblivion:Magical Stones for a list of effects and locations. rpeh •TCE 08:43, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Is there a set place where a Bound Shield scroll can be found? Like in a shop or in a specific location? Or can you only get the shield via spell?

Nope again. There's a Bound Mace scroll upstairs in Rindir's Staffs, Bound Gauntlets in The Best Defense, a Bound Dagger in the Shrine Living Quarters of Lake Arrius Caverns, 3 Bound Boots in Earil's Mysteries and a Bound Axe upstairs in Wumeek's house. That's all though. rpeh •TCE 14:12, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Merchants...[edit]

Where can I get the armour and Mace from? Spells or scrolls? Count Marius Caro 18:49, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Look here. It lists the locations. --DKong27 Talk Cont 18:53, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
acually the i think it was the charrols mages guild is were you can get a spell but you need 75 conjuration to summon it along with the long sword with evry armor peice and wepons (besides claymore) — Unsigned comment by 76.8.202.43 (talk)

I cant un-equip my permanent bound shield. when i try to, the game crashes.[edit]

hey guys, i am currently playing oblivion on xbox360. i have come across a very bad glitch. i made a permanent bound shield and enchanted it, and now i cant un equip it. any attempt to remove it crashes the game. i tried going to jail and the game crashed. i even tried casting another bound shield to remove the glitched one, and it still crashed. anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this????

A way on the 360 to get pernement bound armor with no crashes[edit]

now this is an easy way to get full bound armor.what you will do is get bound spells(i think in chorrols magages guild if not then just go to all mages guilds)also a summoning spell with at least 20 repair hammers.if you have low conjuration you can get bound boots and get it to 25 so you can summon a monster.now unequip all wepons and then you summon your creature(a scamp works but on the boots it takes awhile)and then punch it three times(if it killes it in three punches then get your conjuration level to 50 then summon a dadra)and then it will start attacking you.as its attacking you summon your bound armor peace and let your creature damage it.when the creature is gone quickley go to your inventory and repair your bound piece.now drop it,then wait until spell has worn off. after that pick it up,its wait is nothing, its just as good as dadric and it is enchatable

An even easier way is to have a custom, on self corrode armor spell (you can get the targeted spell from Sulinas Vassilus in Skingrad). Then summon your bound armor, turn around and cast corrode armor, fix the armor piece and drop it. Wait for timer to run out. Pick up piece of armor. For weapons, you need a corrode weapon on self spell. You can get the targeted spell from Vigge the Cautious, also in Skingrad.

Pick Pocketing bound armor?[edit]

How long does it take for a NPC to put on Bound Armor? I put a Bound Cuirass on the Adoring Fan to test it. When will he put it on?— Unsigned comment by 50.71.135.146 (talk) at 02:16 on 13 October 2011

Sorry for late very post but sometimes the NPC will not equip until there model is reloaded (like when and NPC goes through inventory for better gear before a fight and equips it) or if the NPC is specifically set to only equip armor at certain times (like Blue Team Gladiator in the arena equipping his raiment only when not sleeping or at the punching bag) so i suggest taking him to remote location and slapping him across the face to make him attack then submit to him (block + activate) Note: some NPCs are force to wear there current attire so they cannot swap gear (unless it is a weapon)

Duration? really that short?[edit]

I don't understand. Is one supposed to cast bound spells one after the other until you are wearing all bound armor and a bound weapon and then watch it all dissapear? These are by far the most pointless spells in the game due to the extremely low duration. (except for training conjuration maybe). I just don't understand these spells at all. I like that the bound dagger has high damage but still it gets me killed: the enemy will likely block many times, making your timer run down, its difficult to switch between summoning your dagger and your heal spell, making healing more difficult during battle, your fists pop up when the dagger wears off, the bad guy has an opening when your dagger wears off. Am I missing something here?
