Clothing[edit]

As I was trying to extend Floyd Nathans' page, I discovered something odd. He was wearing different clothing in my low-level and high-level games. As seen on his page, I ended up putting the high-level clothing in the inventory section and made a note on my discovery. Afterwards, I checked out the other two inhabitants, and that is the same thing; Two different wardrobes depending on level. I have never seen this before, but would like to know; Is it possible for clothing to be leveled like that? And how do we write their inventory sections? Krusty 17:02, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

It's not leveled, but simply random -- any one of five middle class shirts, any one of three middle class pairs of pants, any one of five middle class pairs of shoes. Personally, I don't know that it's worth saying anything more than "his clothes are random", or at most "his clothes are random, middle-class clothing". The items are all inconsequential, so I can't imagine a reason why readers would need details. The only implication I can see offhand is that the image is more inaccurate than most, because it represents just one of 15 (75 if you count shoes) different possible appearances. --NepheleTalk 17:30, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
Thanks for clearing that up. I'll go rewrite his inventory and have this odd phenomenon in mind when writing pages in the future. Krusty 17:42, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
One last question; Does the above numbers hold true for all three citizens of Blankenmarch? I might as well add their inventories the same way I just did Floyds... Krusty 19:13, 11 April 2009 (EDT)
Yes, they're true for the other two Blankenmarchers, too. They'll basically apply to any NPCs who randomly have middle-class clothing (except for vampires). For a non-vampire NPC's clothes, there's really only one leveled list used for middle-class shirts, one leveled list for middle-class shoes, and one leveled list for middle-class pants. So if you come across an NPC who's wearing a different clothes, but in both cases the clothes are middle-class, then it's probably pretty safe to guess that it's one of these three leveled lists that is responsible. There are a handful of other NPCs who have random clothes, based on a quick scan of where these lists are used. --NepheleTalk 22:22, 11 April 2009 (EDT)

Quests[edit]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the only settlement to not be connected with any quests at all? 109.151.198.226 16:48, 11 July 2013 (GMT)

Not the only one, as Oblivion:Cadlew Chapel, Oblivion:Gottlesfont Priory and Oblivion:Isolated House also have no related quests. --Quill-Tail? ! 16:52, 11 July 2013 (GMT)

Why did they include this place?[edit]

Why did Bethesda include this pointless village? And what's the the connections with the cave trolls? Don't delete my comment you prick, virtually EVERY other talk page has questions like mine and you don't delete those (and 9 times out of 10, nobody provides a link to the forums as an alternative discussion place or whatever). I'm just going to keep rewriting if you do, because you obviously have double standards (ie certain users can post whatever they like, while anonymous posts like mine are deleted as "vandalism" - when I'm literally just asking a question, one that's completely innocuous). 110.141.149.88 19:34, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

We maintain a forum and Discord for conversations about the games/lore. Almost all talk page topics are about the content of the article themselves. While you may find some exceptions, they are relatively few, and mostly from roughly a decade ago before we started to more clearly designate talk pages for wiki-work only. Allowing general conversations would greatly tax our editors, while also making it harder for them to actually use the talk pages for their intended purpose. The user who removed this the first time wasn't being a "prick", he was trying to point you in the directions of places where people actually discuss things like this, while trying to make sure this talk page remained dedicated to its actual purpose, and to prevent more confusion by there being more recent examples of non-editorial discussions on talk pages. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:58, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
Please let people talk if they want to. There's enough censorship and alarming degrees of pathological sanitation going on the internet. We are turning it into a corporate "no fun allowed" zone. Trim the garden if it grows too wild, but don't mow it down to earth. It won't not solve the problem. 126.86.129.106 14:00, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

"Ingredients Found Here" section necessary?[edit]

Someone clearly put a lot of work into it, but the extremely detailed list of mundane ingredients on this page is inconsistent with other settlement/location pages, and in any case doesn't seem particularly useful (especially as it takes up so much of the real estate on the otherwise fairly short page). Could we please consider removing the section altogether, or at least hiding it by default for the reader's convenience? Mikeprichard (talk) 20:13, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

I see you ended up doing this yourself anyway, but I'd agree. Never quite understood the pointing of listing common and cheap food items in our place pages. --SerCenKing (talk) 15:13, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, I ended up making the edit after all (though I probably shouldn't have assumed after writing the above that nobody would see what I later figured would be an obscure discussion...). In general, I find listings of common area plants on location pages not to be especially useful given their ubiquity even "between" locations (unless there are e.g. unusually large concentrations or particularly uncommon ingredients), but this page was an extreme example. Thanks again. --Mikeprichard (talk) 22:25, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
