Athrelor

Athrelor, a Wood Elf commoner, is a refugee from Kvatch. He was in his basement when he heard fire and screaming, and managed to escape into the woods where he spent the night. When he realized that his former home was destroyed, he decided to settle down in the refugee camp along with the other survivors.

He sleeps in the big tent in the center of the camp and wakes up every morning at 6am. He always spends the first three hours of the day inside the tent, doing nothing. At 9am he heads outside and wanders around the campsite for five hours. The afternoon is spent inside the tent until 6pm, when he sits down on the stool near the campfire and enjoys a three-hour dinner. He spends the last hour inside the tent until he finally goes to bed at 10pm.

He wears a set of regular middle-class clothing, a quilted doublet with tan linens and a pair of doeskin shoes. He carries a medium amount of gold and a bread loaf.

"I really can't tell you what happened. I'm just lucky to be alive. I was in my basement. Suddenly there was a lot of noise and heat. I stepped outside, and the whole town was on fire, smoke everywhere. I ran for the gate. I got through the gate, and kept running through the woods by the light of the fires. I slept in the woods. I came back in the morning, and Kvatch was gone. There was nothing I could do. I just ran. If I hadn't, I'd be dead."

After you have closed the gate near Kvatch, he will comment:

"You've done us a great service, stranger. We're all grateful."

Notes

• His initial greeting, "Welcome to Kvatch. We've had a spot of trouble, as you can see. But I'm open for business." implies that he was intended to be a merchant. There is nothing else to indicate that this is the case, however.
