Contract[edit]

Just a question, What happens if you steal the contract from Dren or Kill him W/o talking to him in the proper way? My character was a vampire, so there was no way to talk to dren about the contract, but with both a stolen and a looted contract the hermit won't accept it, telling me that I don't have the contract. Is this because you actually need to talk to dren? (by real world standards that works out well in logic, a stolen contract or me killing him wouldn't be legit). Still is it the way I got the contract, or something else, that has made the quest incompletable? (I'm using Xbox, GOTY edition, for the vampire file) — Unsigned comment by 99.135.145.132 (talk) on 8 March 2009

From what I have researched on this matter, yes you can kill him and get the contract. There is only one version of the contract as listed in the CS, a copy is held by the Duke, and another copy is given to you for the Stronghold quests. Upon looking in the dialogue and Journal entries, there is no reaction or stage to come up if Vedam Dren is in fact killed. All it calls for is if the contract is in your possession or not. If you ask me, it's not the contract, It's probally the gems. I can't say for sure, and I don't have the CS since I the XBOX version too, but I bet you being a vampire is messing up the hermitess's ability to tell whether your gems are full or not. Does anyone know if she checks the gems during her greeting? If so then the vampire greeting she gives the player would disrupt her checking the gems being full or not.
Yes, she checks for them in the "Greeting 5" section which is overwritten by the vampire greeting of "Greeting 2". Or rather the script that checks for those gems is started in that greeting. So, either build the stronghold BEFORE you become a vampire or -if you're on the pc- just start the script yourself via the console. -Meisterdieb 18:26, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm unsure as to whether or not this should remain as a Good Question. Without experience from playing Morrowind, I don't if it's been answered but it's obvious that a solution to the issue has been found. What do other Editors think? Jaden 00:34, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
I think yes but I'll talk to someone about it.--TheAlbinoOrc 22:20, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Chests[edit]

Is there any chests or dressers other than in the bedroom. Because I have been looking everywhere for them and I can't seem to find them.

More Than One House[edit]

strong souls[edit]

does the soul you use make a difference? (Eddie the head 16:21, 23 April 2011 (UTC))

Nope. All she needs is two souls - it doesn't matter which, as long as they're ones from that list. rpeh •TCE 16:43, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Edwinna Elbert[edit]

There is a lot of misleading info with these Telvanni quests. After a lot of experimentation it seems as if you have to actually join the Mages Guild for the topic "Dwemer Animunculi" to appear with Edwinna. Can anyone confirm this? Because reading the article gives one the impression that simply having the book in your inventory and having done the stronghold quest will allow her to see it. 24.9.84.173 07:19, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Intertwining Quests of Hlaalu & Telvanni[edit]

I've apparently not been doing particular quests entirely in a linear fashion, so what I've come across here is a very confusing occurrence.

I'm supposed to Kill Reynel Uvirith on orders from Crassius Curio. Before I got to this quest I had joined House Telvanni and started the initial quest towards making a stronghold, while I already am in phase two of the Hlaalu Stronghold. What has happened is that when I accepted to kill Reynel Uvirith for House Hlaalu, the stronghold has magically appeared on the site (Uvirith's Grave) but there's no Reynel Uvirith. Only two characters from the list appear at the site with their own mushroom houses, Farena Elas and Gorven Menas, and comparing the images on here with what I see in the game, I assume it's stuck in what looks like a phase one Telvanni Stronghold.

In brief recap:

  • Joined House Telvanni very early in the game (700+ hours or so spent on the game so far).
  • Finished Main Quest (after 600+ hours).
  • Magically joined House Hlaalu upon speaking with Vedam Dren (ranked 'Retainer' although dialogue indicates otherwise).
  • Continued doing quests for House Hlaalu.
  • Eventually got to the making of a phase 2 Hlaalu Stronghold.
  • Went to Llunela Hleran for the making of a Telvanni Stronghold (never turned in Grand gems or stolen copy of the contract).
  • Eventually spoke with Crassius Curio about 'business' to seek out and kill Banden Idarys and then get Bero's support.
  • Now sent to seek out and kill Reynel Uvirith, but unable to.

Messing up as badly as I have, spawning Reynel Uvirith (in console; PlaceAtPc "Reynel Uvirith" 1,1,1) and killing her does the trick. --Barbapopo 02:53, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

It also seems that I can actually build a second stronghold with the stolen copy and grand gems handed over to Llunela Hleran. --Barbapopo 12:18, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

In retrospect, what happened was that she accepted the stolen copy and grand gems, but there has been no real progress with the stronghold. No journal updates or anything.--Barbapopo (talk) 10:52, 6 September 2012 (EDT)

You broke it. That's a glitch, where you accidentally join House Hlaalu. You're not supposed to be able to be in two houses, and you can't progress in them further, becasue each House wants you to kill each other's Stronhold owner (which in both cases is you). I don't know if it will work, but maybe you can use the console to force yourself out of one of the houses (PC) to continue progressing in the one to want to stay in? If not, you'd have to load an earlier save. Snowmane(talkemail) 10:58, 6 September 2012 (EDT)

Question about Strengths of Souls[edit]

Does the strength of the souls gathered for this project change anything? For example, if one captures Vivec in Azura's Star and then sacrifices the Star by letting it be used for this, will there be anything different about the stronghold from how it would turn out using for example, a couple Ascended Sleepers? Downstrike (talk) 10:22, 18 February 2013 (GMT)

Nope. Looking at the script that checks the souls, she wouldn't even accept Vivec's soul, nor an ascended sleeper's; the script only checks for storm atronachs, golden saints, and winged twilights. Weroj (talk) 11:37, 18 February 2013 (GMT)
I now remember seeing that sort of obstructionism happen, and I now see that it's been added to the Notes section. I still wonder if the stronghold would turn out differently with Golden Saints, compared with using Storm Atronachs. Downstrike (talk) 01:02, 19 March 2013 (GMT)
No, it turns out the same, regardless of which soul you used. --79.221.67.221 12:31, 19 May 2013 (GMT)

Building the Stronghold as a Vampire[edit]

So I am currently playing as a Vamprire, and as you can still do Telvanni quests I got to the stage where you can build your stronghold. I started the quest and stole the construction contract since Vedam Dren would not talk to me (obviously). Then I filled 2 greater soul gems with storm atronach souls. When I got back to Llunela Hleran and spoke to her about the stronghold, she acknowledged my construction contract but acted as if I was missing the souls. The only way for me to fix this was to temporarily cure myself of vampirism. I have no idea if this is a bug or intentional but if it's the latter, there should be a custom dialog for that (or you should not be abtle to start the process in the first place).

FYI, the process for temporarily curing oneself:

  • cure your vampirism: startscript "vampire_cure_pc"
  • talk to Llunela again to get the construction startet.
  • now the game needs to forget that you are cured of vampirism, console command: set PCVampire to 0
  • and finally, set yourself as a vampire again: startscript "vampire_aundae_PC"/"vampire_berne_PC"/"vampire_quarra_PC" (depending on your clan)
